From DAVIDsTEA

Meet our newest obsession: the crème brulée. French for “burnt cream,” this rich and creamy dessert is famous for its silky custard base and crunchy toffee crust. Not only is it such a mouthwatering combination, it’s also inspired one of our favourite macaron flavours. This decadent tea combines all the vanilla-cream sweetness of a classic crème brulée – with a twist. Our secret? We added a pop of jasmine for a light floral touch. Satisfying, sophisticated and downright addictive, it’s the ultimate teatime indulgence.

Ingredients: Apple, jasmine tea, rosehip shells, pineapple (pineapple, su gar), sweet blackberry leaves, marigold flowers, natural and artificial flavouring.

Price per 50g: $8.98

This was a freebie, thrown into my Poshmark order, courtesy of a nice seller.
I like it more than I expected to.
I try to stay away from things that have artificial flavour in them but it’s not always easy since so many things have it included these days, this tea being one of them. I thought about docking it a mark based on that fact alone but I can’t justify it as I actually really enjoyed it and the flavour was surprisingly good. It deserves the 80 that I have given it.
Sometimes in a tea, I can’t taste all of the advertised ingredients but this was an exception as I can taste most of the components. The green tea itself is a tad astringent, not quite as smooth as I’d like it to be but you can definitely taste the jasmine in there. It has a sweetness to it but it’s tempered so it’s not too sweet. I can sense an overall fruitiness in general but it’s the apple that stands out the most. It brings to mind a creamy, vanilla, custard type of dessert, making this tea successful in trying to achieve the effect of a Creme Brulee.
This made for a satisfying sipping experience. I won’t seek it out to buy (I would if it didn’t have artificial flavouring) but I did thoroughly enjoy my mugful.

So I thought that my last bag of this had gone bad according to my last note. I did want to try it again in case it was a fluke. Since then I’ve tried this tea and it seems fine prepared cold. I tried the method I’ve seen on Steepster of steeping it in milk. The first time I used way too much leaf and it was strong but still good.

This time I used less leaf and vanilla almond milk to steep it overnight in the fridge. It was perfect! It tasted like caramel corn and was very rich. I may have to try this prep method with some other teas.

Really nice, creamy, and sweet jasmine tea. Surprisingly good as both a hot tea and iced.

From the Discovery teabox (WHAT is happening with that right now anyway?) One serving! This tea is quite the puzzler — it looks like many rosehips and apple cubes but it’s called Jasmine Creme Brulee. It should at least be green tea, but none that I can see. Hmmmmm…. However, the tea kind of tastes like Creme Brulee? Not sure on the jasmine. I’m not sure how EITHER flavor can come from ANY of these ingredients. The brew color is a bright yellow, so I suppose the rosehips don’t actually impart any red to the cup. It’s probably the most puzzling tea I’ve had, so I can’t say I love this but it wasn’t anything unpleasant.
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug // 16 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled (half mug) // 4 minute steep

I just don’t really understand this tea. I don’t get any jasmine or creme brûlée, but more of a sour/gone-off flavor. Intense dislike.

I didn’t think I’d enjoy this one, but it’s really nice… sweet and fruity, and creamy. I taste the apple and blackberry leaves which gives it the fruity note. And it’s got to be the marigolds or something that’s also giving a floral note. It’s very refreshing to drink. This one might be worth it to purchase 50gs.

Disclaimer – I dislike jasmine but adore crème brulée, so it’ll be interesting to see how I feel about this one.

I’ve sipped a quarter of this and I’m not quite getting the dessert notes I was hoping for. I’m picking up on a lot of vanilla, a bit of apple and some mild caramelized notes…nothing too strong on the jasmine, but also not what I think of when I fantasize longingly about crème brulée.

It’s a solid tea – smells amazing, tastes good – but it’s just not what I hoped for based on the name, so I doubt I’ll drink the sample down.

It’s been WAY too long since I’ve been in here. The last two years have been the worst of my life which is why I’ve been absent from all forms of social media in that time. Don’t know how many steeper friends who are still active on here but if any of you are and see this I want to say I hope you have been well and I seriously have missed. This awesome community!
Anyway been trying new teas out today.
This one really weirds me out, it not only smells like Teavana’s Strawberry Rose champagnes But it tastes like it too. So confused by this tea. I taste a hint of jasmine but nothing Lille creme brûlée. Yeah this is gonna go on the sell list. Oh and if anyone is in the mood flor buying tea for really cheap prices keep your eyes out for a stash sale post! Hopefully this weekend or early next week.

I’m so glad to see you back! But I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had a rough last couple years. I hope your presence means that things are getting better for you.

Ost

How have you been doing? It’s nice to see people I knew before like you still around! I checked in a couple months ago and felt like everyone I knew was gone! Also it’s not so much that things are getting better for me,it’s more like I’m just learning how to cope better and accept my situation for what it is. Tea drinking always did bring me a lot of comfort and Steepster always encourages me to drink more so I think it will be good for me to be back! :)

I hope things are getting better for you. I would definitely be interested in your stash sale.

I stocked up on this tea before it was re-released – I got 250g super cheap… before ever trying it. Terrible mistake! haha. It does seem to be almost universally loved though!

I find it has a strong smell (dry and steeped) of buttery, creamy caramel apples. The taste is nothing but watery apple juice so matter what I do! I don’t get any jasmine notes or really even any buttery caramel notes. I’m going to keep trying though – since I have a ton of it anyway :)
