47 Tasting Notes
I was super-excited to try this new tea. I really, really wanted to love it. I had heard that it tasted a lot like Mocha Latte, which I love. And it is definitely similar to Mocha Latte, but I would say that the coffee flavour and carob is more pronounced in this one. I enjoy the chocolate side more than the coffee side. So, I did not end up enjoying this one as much as I had hoped. I tried it as a hot tea with some milk. I had been planning to pick up 250g when I walked into the store, but thought I should try it first….and I am relieved that I did because this one is not for me. I picked up a tiny bit to take home and try again in other ways, but I think I will never enjoy this one like I love Mocha Latte. If you were looking for a Mocha Latte with a stronger coffee component, this may be the tea for you! I know a lot of people love this one! It is just not for me.
It is interesting to see that others have not enjoyed this one as I have. I absolutely LOVE this tea. It is in my top 5 for the teas released by David’s Tea for 2016. For me, it is not missing anything. It is amazing as a hot latte. You can taste the chocolate and almonds. It does have a sort of alcohol-like aroma when you smell it, but I do not taste it when brewed. I am definitely grabbing a ton of this before it is discontinued. I highly recommend it, if you like chocolate/dessert teas.
I know that I am in the minority here, but I am not a fan of this one. I had tried this one as a tea-to-go last year and remember not being impressed with it, but I decided to try it again this year. But no…..this one is not for me. I cannot taste the chocolate. All I can taste is an overwhelmingly strong but unfamiliar flavour (bergamot?) and the floral tones of the rose buds. I will not be having another cup of this. It is a pity that I picked up 100g of it, but I am sure someone will be willing to trade for it, as it seems to be well-liked and is limited edition as well.
I picked up the new tea that was released earlier in the day. I was really looking forward to trying this one and, let me just say, it did not disappoint! Yum yum!!! I prepared it as a hot latte and it was amazing. I actually got it ready right before dinner, but did not try it until after eating my food. Throughout my meal, the tea was giving off the most spectacular aroma. I couldn’t wait to try it! So good! I only picked up 50g to try it out, but I will definitely be picking up a lot more in the future. It’s an incredible dessert tea!
Well, this tea was a huge disappointment for me. It is peppermint overload. I cannot taste anything but peppermint. Even the peppermint tastes somehow off. And I like peppermint! I took a couple of sips and didn’t want any more. I tried it later as a latte and it was slightly more drinkable, but not something that I would want to have again. Luckily, I got a free sample of this with my online order, so I do not have any tea remaining. But for something that was branded as similar to White Chocolate Frost, this was a major letdown. I would not recommend it unless you absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE peppermint.
When I saw that David’s Tea was coming out with two new chais, I didn’t know what to think. On the one hand, I was quite excited, as I love chai teas. but on the other hand, I did not want to get my hopes up too high, as I usually don’t like the chai teas at David’s Tea. I first tried the Chai & Mighty as a hot latte to go…and I found it to be quite underwhelming. I will probably give that one another go at some point in the future. But I purchased some of the Kashmiri Chai to make at home. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really like this one! I’m surprised! I tried it as a hot latte with some rock sugar and it was really good. I will definitely be picking up some more of this one. Yum yum!
I was so excited when they first announced this as a new tea. I know many people felt peanut butter would not make a good tea flavour, but I was totally sold right away. I only worried that it would not translate well into a tea. But there was nothing to worry about! This is an awesome tea. One of my new favourites, in the top 10. An excellent dessert tea prepared as a latte. For me, the peanut butter flavour comes through prominently, so I am kind of surprised to read that others do not feel the same. I will definitely be stocking up heavily on this one. Another great tea from David’s Tea.
And for people who feel the tea does not have enough chocolate in it, you could always try adding a bit of the Dark Chocolate Delight to the mix. That should kick the chocolate up a notch.
I purchased this tea quite some time ago and I don’t remember enjoying it that much. This was early on in my tea immersion. So, it sat at the back of my tea cupboard for a long time. A few nights ago, I came across it and decided to try it again. I had it as a hot latte. I am not sure if my tastes have changed, but I suspect that I am just better at preparing loose leaf tea now…..because it was really good! I was surprised by how much I liked it. Usually, I don’t like the cinnamon in David’s Tea chais, but I am a HUGE chai lover otherwise. But this was really, really good. Like “I need to add this to my regular rotation” good. Definitely as a latte, as a chai should be!
