I’m adding more points on to this one…because…I’m out of stock after this cup and have found that I really like it more and more…and it didn’t last long in my stash! It’s a nice memorable tea. And I really do think that if you are hungry it seems to help me hold off on the munchies or snack! LOL This one will be VERY MUCH MISSED

Rabs

This truly is a yummy tea, unfortunately so far it causes me to crave waffles. ;)

JonTea

I heart maple teas :)

Cofftea

Get more! This, while I don’t have it too often, is one of my staples:)

TeaEqualsBliss

OooooO…yeah…

TeaEqualsBliss

…@Rabs, I Mean…lol…

Kristin

Oh. i just got some of this from Fava tea yesterday. Pretty sure it is the same tea. I can’t wait to try it.

JacquelineM

This is unrelated to your review- but I found out Teany reopened!

http://ny.eater.com/archives/2010/04/teany.php

yay!

Cofftea

Kristin, definitely is- although I think they list Fava as the brand… REALLY annoys me. I see you’re from UT, what brought you to WI? Or did you order it online?

TeaEqualsBliss

JacuelineM – Thanks so much!!!!!

Kristin

@Cofftea – I ordered it online. I like that they have a large selection and that you can order by the ounce. The prices are good too.

Kristin

@Cofftea – Oh, and I am not ‘from’ Utah. :) I do live in Utah now. Just moved west a couple of years ago from Boston.

Cofftea

By from, I meant live in. What are their shipping prices like? They’re 20 min from me so I don’t need to use their shipping.

Kristin

$5 shipping

LissaMarie

This tea sounds amazing. I’m usually not a fan of sweeter teas, but this just sounds yummy. I love maple candy, so i’m going to try this tea soon! Thanks for the inspiration :)

Cofftea

LissaMarie- give it a shot. I never sweeten my tea so you’d think I’d hate one w/ “sugar” in the name- but I don’t. I even occasionally add just a touch of maple syrup to it:)

LiberTEAS

@LissaMarie – I LOVE maple candy also – I just discovered it this past November at Whole Foods, and I loved it. yum yum yum! That experience with the maple candy is exactly WHY I bought this particular tea a few months ago… and I’m not sorry I did… it really is good. Even with the maple brittle bits in the tea, it’s not super sweet.

Made this for a friend today. I nearly lost the thing that means most to me next to God today. I didn’t realize that Madison’s invisible collar battery died and she ran up to the neighbors’. Luckily Christine was home… she’s never home on Friday afternoons. When she came up to bring my Madison home I made her a cup of this, sweetened w/ 1tsp sugar free maple syrup, as thanks. The day worked out great though because she ended up hanging out for 2 hrs and we’re going out tomorrow nite.

Nothing like having your beloved pet get lost to stop your heart. I’m so glad it turned out well. And the tea sounds good, too.

LENA

I don’t know HOW I missed this post a month ago…but I am glad that your ‘lil one’ is ok…

I was kind of hesitant to try a maple tea, so I only got a sample of this (which I now greatly regret!). I thought it might be like pancake syrup, that fake stuff that’s fine on, well, pancakes but I don’t really want my tea tasting like it. This, however, is the real deal. It smells like maple candies when you open the little baggie, the kind you get at rest stops all over NY. I’ve always wanted to melt one into tea, but now I don’t have to because I think that’s exactly what this blend tastes like!

It’s maple maple maple all the way through, from the smell when you’re drinking to the caramel, molasses-y ending. Surprisingly, it’s not overly sweet or cloying at all, and the black base really stands up to the maple (which is admittedly a very strong flavor!). They’re in perfect harmony, and I think this would be the most perfect breakfast tea ever. It’s brisk and bold enough to deliver a kick in the butt, but the maple makes it heavenly and comforting. In fact, this seems to be both a morning and nighttime tea! I am so in love, and I think I’ll be placing another order very soon so I can have more of this amazing goodness.

LiberTEAS

This is one of their best! Love this stuff.

Scott B

This sounds good and it makes me want a maple-blueberry tea!

Alphakitty

I actually have a blueberry tea I just got from the same company, maybe I should mix ’em up for maple blueberry goodness!

Scott B

Ooh, that sounds like some great alchemy!

ashmanra

I am almost out of their Chocolate Delight. I have been eyeing this one for a while. You may have pushed me over the brink into ordering it!

Autistic Goblin

Maple is yummmy! Dang it now I’m craving maple…

This is a good tea, but not strong enough for a wake-up tea. I guess that means I’ll have to drink more tea – what a great problem to have.

ashmanra

This is on my wish list. I love their chocolate delight and need to reorder!

There’s more family visiting so things have been hectic (but fun) here. I also potentially may have some extra-good news on the job front, but I don’t wanna jinx it (I should know by the end of the week). So I was feeling pretty upbeat this morning even when the family brought over doughnuts (of which I did not partake). Instead I treated myself to this uber-yummy tea. It’s wonderful in that I’m not experiencing any sort of “doughnut remorse” (which can be caused by either having or not having doughnuts). Hooray for this tea! TG

This tea is AMAZING! If you like black iced tea (I just happen not to unfortunately), you should try this iced. I bet it wouldn’t need any extra sugar- even if you normally sweeten your iced tea.

Rabs

Thanks — I’ll definitely try this iced! :)

Ewa

ahahaha, I love that doughnut remorse will get you regardless of what you do. you’re d0000000000med

Wow, this one smells good! My Mom and I were just talking about those little leaf-shaped maple sugar candies that you can get in Pennsylvania, and the smell of this tea reminds me exactly of those candies. The flavor is more like a warm, thick maple syrup rather than those little sugary sweet candies, though. It definitely tastes like real maple syrup – nothing artificial in this flavor. I wish I had made some tea to go with our french toast brunch this morning! Thanks Alphakitty!

-Dry blend has medium greenish-black tea leaves with pieces of flavoring, cocoa nibs and small red berries.
-Dry leaves smell like rich maple syrup candies. Tea liquor aroma is of chocolate and black tea.
-Tea liquor is a thick golden brown color with a small amount of oily sheen on top.
-Robust black tea flavor with a sweet and heavy maple syrup finish.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Very good tea. Rich and sweet flavor. Reminiscent of real maple syrup.

This has been on my shopping list for ages. Need to get sometime soon, Never ordered from Tea Guys before so that will be new to me too.

Josie Jade

This was the first tea that I’ve tried from them also. I briefly looked at their website and they have a lot of fun teas that I’d like to try!

gmathis

Love the maple sugar goodies!

Josie Jade

Oh, me too! I haven’t had them in ages, but still remember how good they are!

ashmanra

I LOVE their Chocolate Delight.

Josie Jade

Oh, that sounds yummy, Ashmanra. I’ll keep that in mind for when I order from them!

i love when i open pandora and it just knows that i wanna hear The Smiths.
i love being able to walk to work and still be on time.
i love that it’s 50 degrees out and i have a midday errand to run.

Morrissey, i know you are a maybe-racist, but you are also endearingly nicknamed a “prophet for the fourth sex” and i think you would like this maple sugar tea. please have some with me. it’s dark and sweet and just a little bitter. and i’m pretty sure it’s vegan. (Bring It On Down To Veganville!)

it’s probably a little bitter cuz i over steeped it a tad. or over leafed it? it was one of those scenarios where you have just enough tea left for either 1 cup and a mini cup. or 2 weak cups, or 1 strong cup. like a scoop and a smidgen of leaf left. (probably should have saved it for a random blendo cup oh well)

Tea Guys teas are nothing like David’s Tea teas. the scent of the teas are often so strong it almost hurts, and the flavor is always very tea forward. here i smell the maple very strong, but mostly taste the strong black base first. this is a good thing! no fluff or mirrors or artificalness. just maple maple maple and tea tea tea.

now let’s dance.

All men have secrets and here is mine
So let it be known
For we have been through hell and high tide
I can surely rely on you …
And yet you start to recoil
Heavy words are so lightly thrown
But still I’d leap in front of a flying bullet for you

So, what difference does it make ?
So, what difference does it make ?
It makes none
But now you have gone
And you must be looking very old tonight

Thank you so very much to RABS for sending me this. I cannot imagine living without it now.

I rolled the die two times today for my GEEK PRIDE contest and came up with numbers that had already been used. Mindful that I could only take 3 rolls a day, I focused hard and came up with a “7” and this is the delightful result.

I don’t adore maple sugar. In fact, if given a choice between candied maple sugar and chocolate, the chocolate will win 100% of the time. I grew up in a family of 8 and packages of maple sugar candy were the default gift chosen by friends, family, and other unfortunates who had to find a gift to appease the gift-giving gods. I always thought that maple sugar was TOO sweet and used to give my pieces away to younger siblings who, in return, had to sign up for a tedious length of indentured servitude in making my bed, cleaning my room, and. my favorite of all, being compelled to speak in a French or English accent. It was the time of the Cold War so sometimes I made them approach a stranger on the street and announce that they were Russian as payment for the maple sugar. It was also the time when approaching a stranger on the street and speaking of your antecedents did not seem to shockingly creepy and dangerous as it does now.

In any event, the dry tea smelled like the maple sugar candy on quaaludes: the sweetness was muted so I was gung ho. I do like maple sugar when it’s taste is softened by a sufficiently of waffles, pancakes, etc. and you don’t feel as if you are applying cavities directly to your teeth.

I liked the aroma and was optimistic. But then I went crazy. Black tea is the BEST delivery system for maple sugar! This tea is sweet and filled with the great flavor of maple sugar but it is never cloying. That’s what I don’t like! Cloying and treacly! This is perfect. Now I totally “get” why people love Maple Sugar so much.

And I will place an order! This is simply the best use of maple sugar known to humankind, in my opinion. Totally and outrageously deliciously sweet but not too much at all. Just right! It’s a Goldilocks moment.

Thank you so much to RABS!

LOL at this tasting note. Too funny poor little brothers and sisters, makes me relieved I’m a lonely only!

__Morgana__

Me too, SM! But as a kid, I REALLY wanted an older brother. I guess if I’m pressed, I still do.

Doulton, I loved that you made them speak in accents. When I was a kid, my friends and I used to go through entire days out where we agreed ahead of time that we’d speak in English or Irish accents and it was hysterical when people asked where we were from.

My first tasting note today, and using up the last that I have of this tea. Sorry to see it go, but, glad to have more space in my tea cupboard. (actually, it’s more 4 shelves, plus TWO DRAWERS in my china cabinet/tea cabinet of tea, plus a rather large bowl and a box of samples).

I’m currently on my second infusion of this tea. The first was lovely… I made it a latte (but I didn’t froth the milk), and this makes it sort of more like a “breakfast blend” sort of tea rather than a maple-y tea. I like this one much better without the milk.

This is one of my favorites from Tea Guys (my favorite is their Papaya Ginger, which I have hidden from myself in my large stash of tea LOL). It has a nice, maple flavor, sweet, but not too sweet, the black tea has a very smooth taste to it. Maybe the next time I order from Tea Guys, I might just have to order this one again…

I made a latte once from this… can’t remember it, but I’m pretty sure it was disappointing.

Cofftea

Ok never mind. I guess it was very good after all- it was just 3 months ago:) I’d like to try it latte form blended w/ half chai (not Mayan Chocolate) or just chai spices.

Ahh, now this is bliss after my last few teas. I rolled a “2” this morning, but had no more “2” teas. (Yes, I used the entire sample bag of the rose in my tea last night, I wanted SUPER fragrant rose scent and flavor). When I returned from work my luck improved and I rolled an “8”. The single package labeled 8 was Maple Sugar by Tea Guys. Super excited to try this I was. (My try at yoda speak).

The leaves smelled amazing, and probably would have paired well with scrambled eggs and bacon, or some chocolate bacon chip cookies (I’ve only heard of these, never consumed/made them myself). This was a tasty sweet afternoon tea to enjoy as a pick me up. It tastes like I drizzled a bunch of syrup in with my afternoon basic black tea. I bet this would handle cream well. I have a bit left over so I will try it that way next time I roll an 8.

Thanks again to Rabs, for allowing me to try such tasty teas:) Now to decide which teas to bring to the in-law’s house for the evening. Showing them how to work their new phones!

I have to admit that chocolate bacon chip cookies sound interesting.

Rabs

Hooray for a higher roll! I never thought of keeping more of the tea set aside for another roll — that’s a great way to extend the game if you’d like. Otherwise I consider a tea that’s been rolled for and open “fair game.” :)

AmazonV

hehe my favorite cookies
