Wow – look at those numbers drop! Go me!

Made this one in my timolino for work. Was semi dreading it, but was very excited about finishing it off. In reality, this was the best cup I’ve been able to produce. For once, that super weird and inharmonious apple/oatmeal taste was dramatically toned down and that really improved the cup. Even still, it wasn’t awesome though – the maple still came across as very “try hard” and artificial.

C’mon DAVIDsTEA – you’re a Canadian company; you should know how to do maple correctly. Ugh. So disappointed.

This tea made me laugh at myself. The first sip was great. “Ohh, yum, cinnamon and sugar my favor-” and the the bottom dropped out of the flavor and maple slapped me across the face, taking an already delicious cup to a whole other level. It made the flavor deeper, more complex, and I love it. It’s a good thing my wife doesn’t like maple, because she will not be getting any of the sample she brought home last night.

Agree with other reviewers – this tea, given it’s namesake, isn’t very maple-y. As a maple syrup lover, this was really disappointing.

It reminds me of last year’s fall tea “sugar and spice” but just a wee bit stronger. Not a bad black tea, but I won’t be restocking.

Out of all the fall teas, this one is the one I was most excited about tasting… and so far, is the one which left me most disappointed. I LOVE maple syrup and could drink it right out of the bottle…unfortunately that is what I wanted to do after drinking this tea in order to get some taste of maple. The dry smell of this tea is definitely better than how it smells after about 2 mins of steeping- at that point it smells like oatmeal (I’m actually not joking about that…). I was able to finish the cup but wouldn’t recommend this one and will not be trying this one again. Trust me and save yourself from the aftertaste.

Tried this as an in-store sample today, and wow no. Just. No.

It tasted like bitter wood and spices. No maple. No sweetness.

I had hopes because their other maple tea can be quite nice, but this one fell far short of mapley goodness.

So, I was gonna buy this, but people said it wasn’t that were maple-y. Instead I just ordered a bag of Snickerdoodle. Really wanted to get samples of this tea and Pumpkin Chai since it’s so popular and I’m scared of wasting my money, but I only got a sample of this one. Still happy about that though!
When I opened this bag it just smelled like cinnamon apples, so that made me a little disappointed.
Flavor is slightly better. Still mainly getting cinnamon apples, but with a little bit more sugar. But maple…
I just feel so betrayed.
I thought DavidsTea was originally from Canada. And as stereotypical as it is, I figured they’d make a better maple tea. Plus Oh Canada is amazing. Like that’s the bar for maple/syrupy teas.
I taste no maple in this. It’s like the name is a lie.
Well I guess I should be happier that I didn’t waste my money on this tea, but still! I had such high hopes.
Now I’m even more skeptical of Snickerdoodle…Guess I could always sell it on here, but it is still sad! :(

I had a sample of this recently in the store. It’s a nice black tea but the maple only really hits you in the after taste, and it’s not very strong. Not sure if this would be worth spending the money on.

this tastes like sugar and spice from last years collection…..though I liked that one a lot better. I’ll have to try it with a hint of milk and sugar.

Maybe it is the cinnamon and the cloves, but did anyone else find that this tasted A LOT like Sugar and Spice from last year? I don’t mind it, but it didn’t knock my socks off. I like cloves a lot, but everything from the flavour to the drier mouth feel reminded me a lot of Sugar and Spice. I am glad I gave this a shot, but it was not a huge winner in my world. Also, I get almost no maple. I will make a point of brewing another cup and trying it again, but so far the maple is totally eluding me.

Edit- Apparently there are no cloves in this… I guess it is the cinnamon that reminds me of Sugar and Spice?

I was excited for this tea because it sounded so fall-like, but alas, it was a disappointment. I detected maple syrup flavor, and sweetness, though I did add sugar. The black tea base is wimpy. Also, something is conflicting with the cinnamon in a way that makes this chemical tasting. Could it be the monk fruit? I have no idea what monk fruit tastes like. Overall, I’m not really a fan. I was hoping it would taste like maple fudge. Bummer.
