652 Tasting Notes
I got some samples from 52teas via Kittenna who made a big order and allowed me to include some and she so kindly shipped them to me………. She’s the best!!
I’ve had all 4 so far, and now my problem is I LOVE THEM ALL BUT NONE ARE AVAILABLE TO BUY!?!? I’m soooooooooo sad.
I loved this one, and Rocky Road (which I could still buy a sample of), Something something velvet dusk (going to check that name, the vanilla lavender one), and Butterbeer.
Are they just gone forever and ever? Why must I fall in love with teas that are unavailable!? I was just going to make a purchase and then I was sad :(
This tea is so perfect, it’s everything I ever wanted in a marshmallow tea. Delicate, not fake tasting, I can still taste the base. WHY GOD WHY
Had this sample from Teavivre from awhile back and just found it and decided to make it the other day.
Reached a conclusion – I love jasmine tea!! Can’t say I’ve had many others to compare it to, but I’ve added this one to my wish list. It’s smooth and not overpowering at all. I found it very relaxing to drink.
Evidently I’m a floral tea lover! Jasmine, rose…. Just need to revisit a violet tea!
Another free sample from my Black Friday AQTT order! Back before I opened the door to the wide world of teas, EG used to be my favorite tea. Then when I cracked that door open a bit, Creamy EG Vanilla tea was my favourite tea, or The Earl’s Garden. Then when I opened it even more and jumped in, it was H&S’s Paris tea which is like a fancypants EG. Anyway I can’t even see the door now, I’m so far in. And so far from the days when the Earl was my bff.
Anyway, this smells really flavorful dry…and floral? I think I notice the rosehips? What are rosehips?? I like rosy teas. I don’t find this tastes TOO artificial. I’m drinking it right now. It’s still quite hot. I do have to get back to work but as of right now I am enjoying this one. If I ordered again from AQTT I might order a small amount of this.
That is all!
Rec’d this as a free sample with my big order – the sample was about half the amount of tea I normally use for my mug, so even though I tried to use less water it still was weaker than I’m accustomed to/than I prefer.
The chocolate/caramel/nut notes that I could detect were pleasant enough, just very faint. I’m not going to rate this numerically because the parameters were not up to snuff for me, but I did enjoy my cup this afternoon at work!
I certainly haven’t documented them all, but this is another sad Butiki sip down. I bought a 1/2 oz of this and really liked it as a slightly more eggnoggy version of Creamy Eggnog, which I love. This one has more of the standard eggnog spices in it, I approve. I’ve been baking cookies all day and kept turning the kettle on, meaning to make a cup of tea but never got around to it. Finally done and sitting down with the last of this one, was worth the wait.
AQTT #3!
Drinking this now, here at work.
I chose 2oz of this as part of my 6oz contest winnings… not sure what made me go for the 2 full ounces, I think it’s because most of the other teas I was interested in were the limited edition ones which were “off limits” :)
Also I do enjoy lemon desserts and things that smell like lemon desserts such as candles or Scentsy bars, and things that taste like lemon desserts even when they’re not actually desserts.
I did add some milk/blend cream to this as per the suggestion on the bag, which i thought might bring out the dessert aspect, because by sniffing the bag it smelled very lemony but not as much cakey… the cream really helped :) Also as it cools, the lemon is settling down a bit. I may try a bit of sugar next time to see what that does, though i try to avoid adding sugar to my tea and coffee these days. I’d rather eat my sugar in the form of actual desserts :D
I keep sipping as it’s cooling and it’s getting mellower and mellower. I suspect this is a pretty fresh blend also, so I bet as it ages a bit the lemon will fade somewhat.
All in all I am enjoying this, will probably keep it at work! I don’t regret my 2 oz decision!
PS I’m changing my name, I’m over it and I don’t feel really represents ME anymore. To gradually ease all of my 3 readers into this transition, I will continue to have my original username in parenthesis for the time being
LOL! Are there really only three of us left out of all your followers?! Seems like a lot of older members have faded out. :/ I come and go depending on my mood and life.
This was the second tea I tried from my recent (and very first!) comedically massive AQTT haul.
I figured I may as well drink the Santa one now, in keeping with the holiday season!
To be honest, I’m not even entirely sure I read the description before i ordered this. I know that I used to be a big fan of DT Santa’s Secret, and in general I’m a big fan of Santa himself so my decision to purchase this one didn’t actually require much thought.
I sniffed it last night when my order came in and thought it smelled pretty tasty, though I admit I was a bit surprised it was a chocolate and caramel vs vanilla and minty type of blend, but that goes back to the fact that I absolutely didn’t read the description ahead of time.
Fun Fact – I’m pretty well “over” flavoured tea blends that contain chocolate flavouring. The reason for this is because I love chocolate SO much, like, with every fiber of my being, every beat of my heart, every breath of air that I inhale, so any sort of attempt at recreating the essence of chocolate always strikes me as pretty fake tasting. Like, sorry, this is not going to happen so stop trying. HOWEVER, I’ve always been able to drink Butiki’s chocolate teas, not that I reached for them daily but did enjoy them. I know, THERE I GO AGAIN with the comparing. But, it’s all I can compare right now.
This tea definitely reminded me of some of Butiki’s, seems like maybe a similar flavoring was used or something.
Thing is, I enjoyed it, I really did. I will drink it again and I’m glad I bought it. I still like vanilla tea more than chocolate tea but this was tasty. I love caramel and coconut and perhaps the fact that this was WHITE chocolate made it more acceptable/less blasphemous to try to recreate in tea.
For some perspective – I can tell you with utmost sincerity that the chances are VERY high that I won’t ever purchase a chocolate flavoured tea from Davids ever again. Just as an example. Because they like to put all these disgustingly sweet sugar crystals/stevia/whatever and it makes it unbearable and totally chemical.
THIS tea, was the opposite of that. I drank it with a bit of blend cream because that’s what I had. And because that’s how I always liked Santa’s Secret. And I will probably do it the same next time :)
SO for someone who has all but given up on the types of dessert teas which involve chocolate flavoring, I give this one a Thumbs Up.
ON TO THE NEXT!
ETA I just sniffed it again and it smells kinda rummy or something. Yum.
SO! I (still) have so much tea that I could probably use it to insulate a house, which means that I have been on a tea-buying hiatus, for the most part, aside from a few little things here and there – for the last year or more. I’ve been dutifully (and with pleasure) chugging my way through my current stash, and kind of mentally wishlisting teas or companies I’d like to buy from in the future. AQTT was on that list for awhile. So on Black Friday i was like eff it, i’m doing it, and I went a little crazy (considering the crappy Canadian exchange rate), but no regrets! THEN while I was waiting for my order to ship I found out I was one of two Canadian winners of 6 oz of AQTT! I mean talk about excitement. SO MUCH.
Yesterday the tea arrived! Of course I have a tracking app on my phone for my multitudes of online orders, and I was checking it ALL DAY, I even went home for lunch to see if it was there. If we’re being honest I was trying to get to it before the end of the day when my husband would be with me, because EVEN THOUGH I’ve not bought tea in forever, it’s still the time of the year where I should be spending money on others and being restrained with my own purchases. HAHAHAHAH. Yeah. And of COURSE it wasn’t there at lunch but when I got home and saw it in the mailbox I’m sure my eyes were twinkling with little sparkles of pure joy. No exaggeration, bubble mailer JAMMED full of tea – bigger than my head, hard to justify that one away BUT since I had won the contest who can argue with free tea?! Not even my frugal & budgety husband! (I tease, he’s great and always TCB)
I opened that thing up like it was Christmas morning and I was tearing into some kind of fly new Barbie toy from Santa. The mailperson was Santa yesterday. Or AQTT was Santa.
You’re probably wondering about this tea……..
I ended up adding a second ounce to my order once I won the contest, because I had high hopes for this and I freakin love eggnog AND one of my all time favourite teas would be the Creamy Eggnog tea from Butiki (a single teardrop just rolled down my cheek)… I have been hoarding that one but I DO realize it won’t last forever.
Anyway this was the first one I cracked open to sniff last night, and the first one I brewed up. AQTT stands on its own and I don’t mean to just compare this company to Butiki, but I have to stress that once I got sick of most flavoured teas for their weird chemicalness and the fact that most of them didn’t seem to use particularly good tea leaves in their blends… Butiki remained as the shining example that all other flavoured teas had to live up to. I had heard good things about AQTT but with the shipping costs and exchange rate it was something I couldn’t justify until now….. SO GLAD I DID
This tea is creamy, and soft, and eggy, and has the perfect subtle blend of eggnog spices, and is VERY similar to Creamy Eggnog in terms of flavoring. I love the white tea used as well, makes the flavours stand out, as you might normally expect a black tea to be used.
To summarize, this tea was a big bunch of YESYESYESYESYES for me.
I cannot wait to try the rest of my massive head sized AQTT ordered teas :)
I have been on a buying hiatus (for the most part) for over a year now too. I think I’m starting to see a dent in my hoard, but not by much. From reading all the reviews, AQTT is a temptation to quit my hiatus!
I’m wondering if I should try to drink through some older teas before I open all of these ones… but I can’t even SMELL them unless i cut the bags, BOO
Hello everybody, I’m still alive! Reason to celebrate!
I would have been here way more frequently if there was a Steepster app. I checked again in the app store after typing this just to be sure, but there was only one called “Sleepster”…not helpful. I find it very annoying to use Steepster on my phone or ipad. I’m at work now so this will do…
I drank this tea the other day. Why did this tea inspire me to jump back onto Steepster after a hiatus of what I can only imagine (without checking) is months and months if not a year or more? Well, I remember when I first tried it long ago (and I had rated it 74, just saying), I wasn’t in love with it. The other day when I had it, I was pretty jazzed about how tasty it was, it kind of surprised me actually. Not sure if it’s because I had been trying to get rid of old flavoured teas that I no longer care for, but when I made this one I was like “WOW! It’s so sweet and delightful!” I never thought a green tea would be sweet. But this one was. And I actually felt like I was drinking something that was natural, rather than a chemically flavoured concoction.
So, i figured I would share that with whoever cared. I still love all my Teavivre teas. I find lately I’m doing REALLY sad sipdowns of Butiki teas that I’ve been clinging to, along with rotating between a variety of Teavivre, Whispering Pines and other tasty black teas. It would be nice if the exchange rate would be better for us Canadians. Not that I need more tea.
My profile on the side talks about how much I love Harney and Sons, that was past me. Present Me is cursing Past Me for buying so many gigantic tins of teas that I don’t love anymore.
Shaking my fist at you, Past Me. No one needs that much of ONE tea. WAH.
Bumping this rating up to 80 because i feel it deserves to be higher than the 70s
that’s why i stopped buying from 52 teas for the most part. newsletter comes out in the morning, so by the time i get home and can purchase, the sizes i want are gone. If i do manage to score something, there isn’t anything else i can add to my cart to make shipping worth it. sigh makes me sad ‘cause there are a bunch i’d like
