230 Tasting Notes
THIS IS flavored green tea of my dreams. One sip and I was hooked. This is a re-order for me.
The grapefruit flavor was a little zingy but also delicate. The aroma was just delightful.
I have tried a few other grapefruit teas but then one is THE WINNER. If you are looking for a grapefruit tea THIS IS THE ONE TO GET!
Yum, yum, yum. I really can’t say enough good things.
This is another adagio sample tea sachet I had in my stash and drank at work.
This tea is a medley of flavors – I can clearly taste the chamomile and peppermint. It all just kind of muddles together. While hot it was fine enough. However, as it cooled there was a cloying taste at the end of the sip that is very unpleasant. The flavor currently left in my mouth is almost annoying.
I would not make this again.I find it interesting how different people’s tastes are. Someone else I follow says this is a favorite tea. I thought it was decent. I do agree when this is cold it is terrible, though. I hadn’t finished my mug of this before I went to sleep and in the morning I drank the end…UGH. Mine was also loose leaf and not a sachet. That could make a difference in overall tea taste. I dunno.
I had a tea sachet of this that must have been a sample from Adagio. I was looking for something without caffeine to get me through the morning as I cheated on tea with some iced coffee this AM. (Coffee, you are such a fickle mistress!)
On to the tea: I would agree with the other reviewers that this has a pleasant woody- vanilla taste. I am very picky about vanilla and this one was not offensive in any way. In fact, it was perfectly enjoyable. Yum.
NOTE: If you drink this. USE TWO TEABAGS.
I know that I am drinking this out of season. However, it is a Monday, the world outside my office windows is looking cloudy and angry, and I wanted something comforting.
What is it about Mondays that are just so blaaa?
I used two teabags. If you are going to drink this USE TWO TEABAGS. (Sense a pattern here?) A single teabag is much to week and the flavors are muted and somewhat blechy. The addition of the second teabag is magical! It fixes this tea somehow. Republic of tea should just manufacturer the bag twice as strong!
(WIth the extra bag) this is a sweet tea that does not require any sugar. Its not an AMAZING tea, simple an okay one, but i t certainly hit the spot this afternoon!
I had a sachet of this that I received as a sample with my Harney and Sons order.
I’m not sure if I messed up brewing this one as it tastes like vegetable soup. All I can taste is the grassy veggyish notes. Am I missing something? Did I brew it wrong?
You don’t say how you brewed it so it’s hard to tell. Senchas are notorious for wanting a much lower temperature than most teas around (80degC/176F). Could be that you made it a bit too toasty for those leaves. Could also be that Harney doesn’t purvey a tasty sencha.
Sorry, I forgot that part. I used water that had been cooling from a boil for 5 minutes and let it steep for 2.5.
sounds like a typical sencha to me, but I would try reducing the steeping time to 60 – 90 seconds and see if you like it better
This is only the first karigane I’ve had. This tea brews up a BEAUTIFUL greenish yellow color. The tea almost looks like it glows. I am getting the nori, grassy, and nutty notes.
I’m not going to give this a rating until I’ve had another chance to try it. I LIKE it. I just need another shot to enjoy the subtle flavors before I give it a score!
I occasionally get this in the “shaken iced tea” version with one pump of sweetener and extra ice from Starbucks in the afternoon. (I have to be VERY specific or they mess it up!)
I have no idea how they prepare the tea as by the time I see them make the drink the “tea” is in a concentrate they pour in with water and ice. I have no idea if they make this concentrate in-store or if it comes in a jug they decant to make it look fancy. Anyone know how this is made?
This has a STRONG sweet-tart flavor profile. I get a little bit of cinnamon at the end of each sip. The sweet-tart overpowers all the other flavors and I really can’t single out any fruit. I like this tea for ease of access at any Starbucks on a hot day. For that, it hits the spot.
In terms of buying this tea loose or bagged, I don’t think it would make my shopping list. Anyone else drink this beverage from starbucks?
I tried it and couldn’t stand it! Way too tart even with added sweetener. I did get the cinnamon from it too!
It was just weird IMO, maybe a little metallic/fake too. And I love Teavana so I really wanted to like it.
