From DAVIDsTEA

We’re going crazy for coconuts over here. Why? Because they’re fun, delicious and make an amazing base for a piña colada. And this happy-go-lucky blend of pineapple, mango and coconut is the perfect way to get a taste. Sweet, fruity and delightfully creamy – it’s the kind of drink that makes us want to sip back and relax by the poolside all day long. The best part? It steeps a pretty light pink, thanks to a touch of hibiscus. It’s totally loco coco.

Ingredients: Pineapple, Roasted Coconut, Mango, Apple, Hibiscus, Natural Coconut and Pineapple Flavouring. Contains Coconut.

Price per 50g: $7.98

Cold Brew!

I sipped on this one last night when I got home from work and, despite it being probably the coldest day out yet this fall, I felt like this was the perfect tea for my mood. It was sweet, fun, and tropical – with really forward candied pineapple and mango notes and that creamy under currant of coconut to add a little more nuance to this sweet and fruity blend and just give it that pina colada twist I adore. Sometimes I don’t enjoy this tea; occasionally it just comes off as too artificial/intense in its flavours or even a little chemical; but when you get the steeping and the leaf ratio just right it’s a pure delight. Rhyme unintentional.

Also, weirdly, I feel like I tasted banana in this cup too and that was strange but nice.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Silent Kettle

Do you mind me asking how long you cold steeped this for? Thank you! :) And did you have it iced?

Roswell Strange

I usually let my cold brews go for anywhere between eight hours to closer to twenty four – this one was around sixteen or so, I think? I don’t add ice to my cold brews because it just dilutes the tea as it melts and the drink is already cold (and if you transfer it to an insulated tumbler it stays cold for hours). I’ve had it iced before, made from concentrated steeped hot tea – but I prefer cold brewed.

Silent Kettle

Thank you so much! :) I will try to steep it over night (since its a herbal tea; I’ve been trying to cut back on caffeine so I am hesitant to cold steep the teas I already have on hand!) Will be ordering this one for sure in my next order. Thank you!

Coco Colada makes for a great iced tea in the summertime. It has a breezy coconut flavor when brewed both hot and cold – almost reminiscent of coconut water, but a better version of it.
I also made iced tea popsicles with Coco Colada with some cut up strawberries and they were super refreshing. The pretty pink colour is also a bonus – I love watching the colour change as it steeps!

This was a good cold brew but it was a little too artificially sweet. But, I really enjoy coconut, so this is definitely something that I would drink.

2022 Sipdown 24/365!

Mastress Alita’s Sipdown Challenge January 2022: Tea that reminds you of an alcoholic beverage

Brewed this up specifically because of the sipdown prompt. It’s old, but still tastes ok – and like a pina colada (which is, of course, why it’s on the list). Slightly tart, creamy coconut, pineapple – it’s a significantly lower-calorie version of the real thing! I think I’ll pop the remainder into the fridge to chill for tomorrow, though.

Sakura Sushi

OK now I’m thinking of brewing some, icing it, and putting in rum or vodka!

Kittenna

I bet that would be tasty!

Another great piña colada tea. I only got a sample, but I think I’ll be ordering more. I really dislike hibiscus, so I was afraid I’d dislike this tea, but it’s not too noticeable. It gives the tea a really lovely light pink color and a bit of tartness.

i personally love coconut and pineapple so i really like this tea. I have only drank it as an iced tea with no sweetner added and i absolutly love it. when i use about 2 tbs it is still a pretty light taste so if you wanna strong cup you might have to double that.

Flavors: Coconut, Creamy, Pineapple

Preparation
2 tsp
Alissa

it is also already pretty sweet

So glad I sipped this down hot instead. Much better this way, surprisingly. The pineapple is stronger than the coconut hot, whereas I’d say the two were flavours were equally represented in the cold brew (maaaaybe the coconut was slightly stronger, though). I thought that this would be a thousand times sweeter prepared hot, but it wasn’t so bad after all.

VariaTEA

Maybe the heat brings out more hibby tartness to tone down the sweetness?

caile

I just finished drinking this cold. Should have tried a sip hot first just to try. :)

Fjellrev

Oddly enough, my batch had practically no hibiscus in it whatsoever. Maybe 1-2 petals in the 22g?

Caile, if yours did have a fair amount of hibiscus, maybe drinking it cold would have been for the best anyway. :)

Yay! I got another sample packet of this and tried it with less water this time. It’s still very coconut-y but the pineapple came through more this time. I love it and will be ordering some.

It’s going to be annoying waiting until July 5th to place an order but that’s when i can redeem my free teas. I may accidentally place an order before then and then also when I can get free tea. I need to stop buying so much tea… I have a problem.
