Breakfast tea with a little Keemun added…..

Breakfast today was Oat Bran with dried cranberries, golden raisins, a tbs of half & half and packet of sweetener. It so reminds me of the Cream of Wheat I loved as a kid. For something that is healthy, it was very good. (yes, I could do better by doing skim milk…)

Yep…a good start to the day.

Oh, I loved Cream of Wheat as a kid, too. I revisited it in a big way my first year of university when it seemed like the perfect food to make with little time and a kitchen the size of a shoe closet.

Indigobloom

Mmmmm cream of wheat… so good. and guess what I had for breakfast yesterday?! (I’m not kidding either)

nomadinjeopardy

Oh man! You’re inspiring some Cream of Wheat cravings. My roommate always thought it was the WEIRDEST thing to eat.

SimplyJenW

I am telling you…try the Oat Bran. 6 grams of dietary fiber and 3 of them are the insoluble kind that help your cholesterol…. ;)

SimplyJenW

Or is that the soluble kind…. Either way, you get 3!

Bumping up the rating a little because this tea has a permanent place in my cupboard.
Drinking my giant travel mug full of this is slightly helping cut through the gloom and doom of this foggy, muggy GREY day. I was home sick all day yesterday (one of those whatamIdoingwithmylife days _) and now it’s supposed to be GREY all week. Normally I’m happy to have a huge glass doors so I can see outside, but there is nothing I want to be seeing right now.

I am going to need some tea to try to put a smile on my face!!!
So today, I’m getting a hint of raspberry and a nice dose of chocolate chicory.

Wake me up tea! In all senses of the phrase.

Will Work For Tea

I really, really, REALLY love this offering from DT!!!

OwenjMayer

<3 this tea. Sad I left it out of my last DT order.

CHAroma

Aww, feel better soon! Don’t let the grey get you down!

Chocolate rocket. CHOCOLATE rocket! CHOCOLATE ROCKET!!

Imagine me running around the house with my arms extended like airplane wings chanting CHOCOLATE ROCKET! The dogs look puzzled and a little put off that I have awakened them from their afternoon slumber with tea madness, but they don’t really get me anyway.

Daisy Chubb

You are amazing.

Jenn You’d run around the house like a weirdo with me. I know you would :)
IllBeMother221B

I love this!!

Cattibrie

This is exactly how I felt after the first time I had Chocolate Rocket. Love this tea for a pick me up.

Gah, this morning. So my wife and I couldn’t fall asleep until 2:30 am or so after we were stood up at Waffle House last night. I woke up this morning and glanced at the digital clock, which read 9:49, and leapt out of bed in a panic. I had a phone interview with DavidsTea at 10…yikes! So I raced to my Dad’s office and set up, pulling up my resume, finding a phone, etc. And then I glanced at my computer’s clock. 6:43. groan I tried to stay up, but around 7:30 I tumbled back into bed to get another hour of sleep. When I woke again, I made a cup of this to soothe my nerves and wake me up, and it worked beautifully. I love the flavor of this tea, the chocolate and the almonds make it wonderfully creamy, and while I don’t get raspberry, I do get banana like so many others. Which is just fine by me, seeing as how I love raspberries, but cannot stand chocolate with them.

I don’t want to jinx anything, but I feel like the interview went really, really well. I’ll know by Friday…cross your fingers, toes, and eyes for me, Steepsterites!

Will do, that is SUPER exciting!! I also hate when I read the clock wrong….worse when read wrong on a day off/weekend!!!

Daddyselephant

Oh gosh yes. And, I mean, the adrenaline from the pure panic I felt when I glanced at the clock had me jittery for a while lol.

Uniquity

Yay! I hope it goes your way…I definitely wouldn’t mind working there, though I think my paycheque would be devoted largely to tea.

Daisy Chubb

Oh my gosh, best of luck and sending tons of good energy your way :D

Daddyselephant

De’s paycheck is already largely devoted to tea XD. Thanks for all the good vibes, y’all!

nomadinjeopardy

Ooh, good luck! I’ve been thinking about applying to one of the positions. It’s hard: I like my current job, but I also like free tea!

Daddyselephant

Thanks! It’s very much my dream job!

MoonShyne

Ok it’s been a long time since this was posted..but I gotta know! Did you get the job?? I hope so! I would love to work there and it would sure cut the ole tea bill down lol. But I would drink my self stupid there..

Daddyselephant

yeah, unfortunately I did not. Sadness. But I ended up finding another job…and now I’ve left that one and am happily spending my time as a housewife!

I thought I would have a cup of this from the sample JustJames so generously provided a few months ago. I have to say that while I was doing the dishes and waiting for it to cool I was REALLY enjoying the smell of it.

Mmmmmm. Chocolate and raspberry.

It’s a good thing I liked the smell because before I had my first sip I knocked my cup over the stove and spilled most of it down the burners. :O Whoops.

I did enjoy the remaining 3 sips left in the cup, and I have enough for a few more cups. Another day then.

(I wanted this because I ran out of the cocoberry mate and I actually did really enjoy that one! I’m hoping I’ll go to DAVIDsTEA friday to scoop the winter collection, and that they’ll have the fall teas bundled up in $2/5 packs. Maybe I’ll get lucky)

OMGsrsly

Ooh, I hadn’t thought of the fall teas being on sale! Totally have to go to DavidsTea on Friday.

TeaLady441

:P I’m all about sales. >__>

I just hope that Friday is enough time for them to bundle up the old teas and put them as 2/$5. That might be a lower priority than getting the store switched over to winter. I can’t remember if it takes them time or not.

TeaLady441

Which of the Fall Teas would you like to grab if you could?
I mostly want the Cocoberry and Sugar & Spice but only one bag each.

keychange

I’m definitely stocking up on Sugar and Spice. Like, I want tins and tins of it. I’m scared they won’t bring it back next fall :(

TeaLady441

I wonder how well that one did? I liked it, but of they are overstocked maybe it’ll end up as a web special…

CHAroma

Are they really going to stop offering the fall teas so soon? It’s still October!

TeaLady441

It seems like it. I remember seeing ads a few weeks back that we should get the fall teas before they leave, but I thought that was just really early marketing to trick us into buying more. What? We won’t want pumpkin Chai after Halloween? YES WE WILL

OMGsrsly

I didn’t really love any of them, but I’d probably get sugar and spice. Maybe something else. Idk. Depends on what I see!

keychange

Yeah, they are pulling them off the shelves rather quickly, if you ask me! I think the fall and winter teas should be available until the spring collection comes out.

Every time I go into DAVIDs I consider getting just a bit of this tea to try. It never had a huge appeal so I always ended up grabbing other stuff instead. However, it is a bestseller and my curiosity has persisted so I asked to try some in my most recent swap with Roswell Strange.

This is actually a pretty tasty mate. The roasted mate actually helps to highlight the chocolate. This combines nicely with the nuttiness of the almond and a touch of raspberry sweetness to round things all out. I know this isn’t something I NEED to have around since I typically don’t reach for mates and am not really sure if this would ever be something I crave but I am glad I have more of this tea to enjoy for a little while more. Thank you Roswell Strange for being an awesome swap buddy and allowing me to try this and so many other tasty teas!

ETA: I think I actually like this better as it cools. It becomes more chocolate-y and the raspberry becomes more prominent as well where as the mate fades away to the background. I am going to up the rating.

Mmm, I like this one as well.

Roswell Strange

My first Mate love, lol. Still a nice companion – though once I’m out of what I have I wont be restocking it in as large a quantity.

VariaTEA

Have you tried Malted ChocoMate?

VariaTEA

Remind me next swap and I can toss some in so you can try it.

Roswell Strange

Will do! I have a list of things to send to you, after going through your shopping list, heh… Should have done that last swap.

Haven’t had this one in a long time but I thought with a 4:30PM to 1:00AM (although we finished an hour early…) shift it’d probably be a good idea to bring a mate to get me through it. I’ve had all my other mate blends more recently so this one jumped out at me more so than the others.

I’m glad I made it again; it reminded me just how tasty this one is which is good because I was starting to think of it as something that would be a pain to finish off and now I remember that I don’t want it finished off! I want this one stocked! It’s delicious! This is why I should drink older blends more often; when I neglect things I forget just how good they are!

Basically it was like a rich, slightly earthy cup of hot chocolate with a shot of raspberry syrup in it: indulgent and divine! I’m so happy I’m at a point in my cupboard where I feel comfortable revisiting old favourites (although with the recent arrival of the SSTTB that might take a back seat for a short while). Mmm Chocolate Rocket!

Another one where I wonder why I don’t have more of it!

Thank you, Kittenna!

My mom has decided she’s going to make the tea I’ve given her so many times ..for the fifth or so time since I gave her the glass of iced tea the other night. I REALLY want her to try this one but I only have enough for 2 more cups and I don’t want to share!

This is one of those rare teas with almond in it where it actually works for my tastes, and doesn’t just come off as almond. I actually kind of get chocolate banana, with some raspberry.

And I love the maté and chicory together. It almost makes it feel like coffee but far more delicious.

Next time I order from DT, I am getting at least 50g.

CupofTree

yum chocolate banana!

Will Work For Tea

This is one of my favorites too – good hot or cold!

Meowkattack

Isn’t this one a keeper? I adore it as well!

Uniquity

Surprisingly, the chickory is what ties it all together for me. It’s a very bold tea, but so good!

If Davids ever discontinues this I will be devastated. It is simply the best pick me up for mornings where I am too tired to continue. They are fewer now, but they do exist and this cup is so comforting and delicious. I need to try more roasted yerba mate blends since I like this one so much better than any of the green mate ones. Any suggestions?

PatchworkSheep

If you don’t mind Teavana, their My Morning Mate is pretty good and tastes roasty and delicious. Chocolate Rocket is better, IMO, but My Morning Mate might be worth trying if you have a Teavana nearby.

daisyjetsfoeva

I am a total Chocolate Rocket addict. Looking to expand the mate blends I took a cup of Jumpy Monkey to go to see if I liked it. So glad I did because I didn’t like it at all. It was like a Mate/Coffee mix it wasn’t good, IMO. But Chocolate Rocket, how I love thee.

This is another example of my past tea indulgences. I tried one cuppa in store about 6 months ago and then bought 100 grams of it. Of course, since then I have made approximately 0 cups and have bought probably 50 more teas. I’m glad I have finally learned to buy in moderation, but I wish that lesson had been imparted earlier.

So, for my second sup of this – this is pretty good. I’m not as fond of it as I was the first time (but then, I never am). I find the first few sips to be very bold with a hint of smoke from the chickory and the roasted mate. The flavour improves as it cools a bit, and I get more of a sweeter dark chocolate with an aftertaste of raspberry. It smells and tastes like decadent chocolate treats. There is a very bold flavour that remains on the end of the sip – this, I like. Powerful. I’ve lowered the rating slightly, but this is still a very nice tea. One of the DT successes, in my books!

A side note about mate: I’ve learned that I really prefer the roasted stuff to the green. If you’re wary of mate due to ‘grassiness’ give the roasted stuff a try!

Ha, when I started buying tea I absolutely got talked into 100g tins as well! Especially at DT, where the tins are free with 100g. I heard that and naively thought, “Oh, sounds good!” I’ve learned better now!
