Has it really been five years since I last had this tea on hand? Apparently so. Now that I’m jumping back into blogging and drinking ALL the tea I was immediately on the hunt for this tea again. Yes, I thought it was that good! I found it easy enough on their website and ordered it. I expected it to turn up in at least two weeks, maybe more. Color me surprise when it turned up in under a week! (It was coming from overseas)

The minute I heard the tell tale sound of the USPS scanner I jumped the baby gate and scared the hell out of the mailman. But I didn’t get to try the tea until now (aka nap time). I used one brick as instructed. Which was really hard to break off. Looks like I need a pure knife. Anyway, I warmed up my pot and then popped the brick inside. It took a few steeps of the hot water to break up the brick and actually make the tea. Which I was expecting. Boy was it worth the wait!

My first cup was earthy and simply awesome. It was better than I remembered it. With each infusion the liquid got darker and the taste smoother. To the point where I imagine this is what silk would taste like if you could drink it. I also picked up hints of chocolate in this tea, which was interesting and not unwelcome. I saved the leaves to try them again tomorrow morning (it was suggested in a tea vlog I watched to try this out so we’ll see). Now if you’ll excuse me…I need to finish this cup.

Whipped this one up this morning after a few steep sessions of an oolong. I do like the mint flavor so I don’t have to add anything further to the matcha. I’d love to try a straight matcha that won’t go bitter on me super quick. But this will do in a pinch. I love the mint flavor because it’s not in your face to me, but it’s there and it’s enough to save the matcha from bitter city.

I can’t say there’s a smell to accompany the match because well sniffing it can result in matcha up the nose. So the sniffing would have to take place after the water was added/whisked. I have to say I liked this one. It was a little bitter and probably should have added some frothed almond milk for a latte but next time.

Though I paired it with the white chocolate matcha that was sent with the tea samples. Which really brought out the flavor of the matcha. Which is saying something as white chocolate is so not my jam. But wow SO good. I’m tempted to try baking it in some muffins later as I think it would be pretty rocking.

Hey ya’ll I’m back!! (I was a little busy…had a baby last year, quit my job, raising baby, and just started my own business…whew)

Anyway, I recently learned about Unytea (they are sort of local to me). So I jumped in and bought one of their gaiwan/sampler sets. And this was the tea that was included. I’ve had a lot of oolongs in the past, but wow! This one was awesome. So buttery and vegetal. So good that I ordered another 100g and that might be why it’s sold out now…sorry not sorry!

I think the owner of the WK is making his own now as I’m pretty sure it used to be billed as “Sleepy Hollow Pumpkin Chai” and was from one of the bigger wholesale companies. But this year it tastes much different and much better. More pumpkin that’s for sure! And let’s be honest tis the season for all the pumpkin. Plus the spices are on point…almost like drinking pumpkin pie with more spice to it. I am so here for that!

It was FINALLY cool enough here to make up a hot cup of tea. And since I’m only allowed 200mg of caffeine a day (isn’t pregnancy grand) I thought I’d make a cup of this one. It does in fact taste like a cinnamon roll complete with gooey frosting, but that migh just be my own wishful thinking. Either way it is a yummy treat tea to kick off my day in the best possible way. The cinnamon give just enough bite to wake me up and get me moving.

I don’t know how I haven’t already reviewed this tea…seeing as I’m down to half a bag! I clearly must have had some of it. Anyway I love this tea. It smells very dark and rich and malty to me…which as you know I LOVE. While the taste has hints of cocoa and…bread. Weird but so darn good.

I happened to pick up a sample rooibos cube when in was in over the weekend. Today’s weather called for a large mug of tea after work and I chose this. I didn’t know what to expect from it as I’d never had it before or noticed it on the menu. To my surprise the orange flavor is nice and light and I do note hints of creme. It’s really a lovely cup on a dreary rainy day.

Just an update I made what was left of this tea into a nice half carafe of ice tea and OMG perfection. I only have half a cup left and will be sad to see it go. :(

I was happy to see this months Steepster Select box had a mix of tea types. I was nervous that each month would be one type of tea after the first month was ALL green teas. So the moment I saw an assam (my favorite) I knew I had to try it first! The dry leaf smelled pretty malty. Just how I like my assam teas. I let it steep for the suggested five minutes. Which I first thought was a bit much, but then realized it was actually just right when I took my first sweet sips. So much malty goodness in this tea and the aroma is to die for with hints of honey and fruit! It’s a good thing you get two steeps out of this one as I think I’m going to need another pot!
