Strawberry White (Organic)

The third of my birthday teas from my lovely partner! (The second was genmaicha, which I neglected to log since I was drinking it while frantically studying for finals) To celebrate being done finals, I decided to try this last tea. From the smell alone, it was the one I was most excited about.

I read on here that many people prefer this tea steeped for less time, and the long recommended steeping time (5-6 minutes) made me a bit wary, so I taste tasted it after 30 seconds of steeping. I couldn’t really taste a whole lot at that point, and was hoping to be able to taste the strawberry a bit more, so I steeped it for another 30 seconds. Unfortunately the strawberry comes through more from the aroma of the tea then the taste, but I like the flavour of the silver needles which does come through quite well so I don’t mind too much. I am planning to try resteeping for the recommended time after I finish this cup, to see if it brings out the strawberry any more.

Edit: Tried a longer steep time, it didn’t really bring out the strawberry any more, so I’ll probably just stick with somewhere between 30s – 1 minute. It takes best when I take a deep inhale to get the strawberry smell as I drink. Still quite enjoyable, will definitely be drinking this again soon.

I waaaant to love this tea so much. It’s not bad, it’s quite good iced, but it’s not ZOMG awesome. I’ve tried steep times from 30 sec to 5 min, and all I taste is white tea. The strawberry is definitely more noticeable iced.

Regardless, I don’t regret purchasing 50g of this. It looks quite pretty, but unfortunately has yet to wow me.

I first got this tea because I loved the smell after making my first cup I was not impressed something about it just didn’t taste right. One day I let the tea sit for a particularly long time at work to the point it got rather cold. And that is when I discovered the most delicious way to enjoy this tea. Ice cold. the colder the better. I have also added frozen strawberries instead of ice cubes for a amazing summer treat.
Its not bitter tasting so you don’t even need to sweeten much if at all.

Strawberry White, eh? I have been known to enjoy white teas, but historically not the white teas from David’s. And smelling this very pale tea makes me understand why; their whites have a slight hit of a jasmine smell. And me no likey the jasmine. The strawberry is very much there too. It’s like a strawberry-scented french soap instead of a tea I’m about to drink.
First sip: don’t care for it. I’ll probably drink it all at some point, but this is certainly not going to be my go-to tea. I wanted it to taste a lot more like strawberries than it does. I understand the other reviewer’s diagnosis of “floral.” It tastes as much like jasmine as it smells.

sigh I wanted to like this so, so much. It sounded like it would be nice and fruity and clean.

Which it kind of is. But I’m also finding it VERY floral, which I can’t handle. Sadface.

Day 47 of my 101 days of tea!

I’ve been thinking about this one for a few days now, and finally got along to trying it now by getting a cup in-store. I was suggested a 5-minute steep time, so that’s the timing I went with. The bad news — it didn’t live up to my expectations. It smelled like a strawberry liqueur, but I found the white tea taste to be more powerful, and not quite my style. It grew on me somewhat, especially as it continued to resteep… I definitely liked it more with each cup, and the flavour didn’t seem to be diminishing at all even after the third time. If nothing else, you can definitely get your money’s worth out of this tea.

Strawberries and white tea, perfection, right?

Well, it wasn’t perfect but it wasn’t horrid either. If you like your teas tasting more of tea than fruit then this is a perfect one for you. There was some lovely undertones of strawberry which blended nicely with the needle flavour. I’ve finished up the small amount of this one I’ve bought, but I definitely don’t hesitate to recommend it to people who like their teas more . . . teaful.

This is the tea that made me realize that I might just not like white tea.

I followed the brewing instructions from Davids, and found it to be bland and dusty tasting. And then I tried again, steeping for only a minute, and still, it’s dusty.

So I left it for a few months. And then when I became overwhelmed by the sheer volume of teas I own, I decided that I needed to give it another shot so I can finish it off.

Let’s see what icing it does. And maybe just 30s of steeping?

It’s much gentler, but the strawberry seems to have come to the fore. There is a definite tea flavour, but it’s not the slightly bitter dust I’ve come to expect. It’s a delicate, almost floral note that is actually quite delicious. I like that this isn’t overwhelmingly fruity, because some of the other Davids whites that have come out over the summer seem like a bit of a waste of such expensive tea.

So, the final verdict? I like it. Not my favourite, but maybe if Blazing Strawberries never comes back, this could take it’s place in the rotation.

So the first time I had this tea, I obviously steeped it for waaay too long. My friend’s mom just gave me a little bag of it to take home so I had no idea and steeped it for about 2 minutes, which I thought would be fine for a white tea.
So today I am sick and I felt like drinking the rest. I consulted www.steep.it and it reccomends 30 seconds for white tea. Oh!
haha So I gave it a steep and it is sooo much better this time.
That said, it’s still not my kind of tea. I like strong, unique flavours rather than floraly or jasmine type teas.

But hey, it’s warm, it’s calming, and it has a very lovely strawberry smell, so although there are a lot of distasteful reviews, I think this tea will be perfect for some people! Just not for me :)

This is great Iced. Nice light fruity tea that is perfect for summer – or a day pretending it is summer.
