From Butiki Teas

Three Friends (Orange, Marshmallow, Chocolate)
One day we got a call from Marina, a local shop owner, asking us if we would be interested in selling packaged tea in their store, ShowCase Collective, in Bordentown, NJ. We were very excited to be a part of a shop that sells high quality products from local artists. We got to spend a good amount of time in the shop handing out samples of our tea and getting to know two of the owners, Marina and Roya, and got to hear about how creative the third owner, Cindy, is. The two owners were so amazing and inspiring that we wanted to create a blend for the shop that would speak about each of their personalities. Marina is energizing, fun, and has a wonderful spirit. For her we chose orange. Roya is warm, friendly, and family oriented so we chose chocolate for her and the Zhen Qu base tea. Cindy, the creative owner, gets marshmallow because it adds that extra creative element to the blend. This tea has strong orange notes followed by marshmallow notes and dark chocolate notes that linger. The chocolate is very dark and just misses being bitter. Three Friends really shines with a little sugar. The dark chocolate becomes milk chocolate, the orange is juicy, and the sweet marshmallow remains prominent.

Oh MY, This is Good!
I’m not sure why I haven’t tried this one sooner I know I’ve seen it on the site before, I will not overlook it again.
Ok so I don’t know what to say because I read all the other reviews on this one and I think they cover it pretty well :)
This tea is just as the others say it is Orangey Chocolatey Creamy goodness in a cup, It taste like Terry’s Dark Chocolate Orange and Creamsicle at the same time.
I see folks mention Christmas and Halloween, This one makes me think of Both at once lol Taste like Halloween but brings memories of Christmases and of my Aunt Judy, how she would slam those Chocolate Orange Candies on the tabletop at Christmastime to break the pieces apart.
Wonderful Chocolate Orange Tea, maybe even the best :)

I got my hopes up reading the description of this one, but I’m afraid it really just comes across as a solid black tea with some orange highlights. I wish I could taste the marshmallow and chocolate, but it’s really only the orange…I guess the other two friends are sorta shy.

As many of the black tea blends I’ve had go, this one is pretty tasty in terms of the base, but falls a little flat on the flavouring. Not bad, but not my favourite one…kinda meh, overall.

So disappointing when a tea sounds that awesome and just turns out okay.

Pyroxy

I think my sample might’ve just been a little badly scooped – I didn’t see any marshmallow in it – but yeah, still disappointed.

Dustin

I think the marshmallow is flavoring, not actual marshmallows in the mix. I don’t remember ever seeing any in this tea. For me the marshmallow comes out as a cream that rounds out the sharpness of the orange that I find in other choco/orange teas. There are chocolate chips in this tho, so if it was badly scooped it would explain the lack of chocolate. Bummer it wasn’t what you were hoping for.

Yum! Still Yum! So greatful to Stacy for holding some of this back for me awhile back while I made up my mind on the rest of my order.

I still can believe I enjoy orange in tea, and this one is scrumptious! Going to be savoring and re-steeping this one as much as I can get the life out of it :)

So hopeful that Stacy misses us and does a few batches of tea to keep us in some favorites… or she can do a random fun blend of her liking .. Just wishful thinking :)

i feel so lucky!!
i Can NOT Believe i’m getting to drink all these teas i’ve wanted to try for So Long!

one morning ashleyelizabeth posted on the swap thread, and when i responded to her post i was barely awake and still in bed. it was like i wanted to swap on a gut level. hahha

and she sent me so much of it!
a little tin with lots of scoops worth.
i made a big 26oz cup worth. and then played with my baby-roommate as it cooled.
(put the shells in the bowl. take the shells out of the bowl. take the bowls out of the cupboard. put the bowls into the cupboard. etc etc.)

this tea LOOKS sexy.
i definitely like this tea just as much as i thought i would. completely.
i don’t get the marshmallow very much i don’t think? if the a marshmallow flavor is in there then maybe it’s just an unfamiliar version of the flavor.
this tea! the chocolate is dark and rich, and the orange is light and doesn’t taste bitter at all. it just adds a bright edge to the deep choco currents of this blend.

i think the appearance of this tea is so beautiful and i don’t even know how it’s possible. hot chocolate poetry tea. everything about this tea, smell and taste and look, creates a really unique and standout experience.

ashleyelizabeth

It is a beautiful tea isn’t it! I had a really hard time letting this one go, and I think it’s because of how pretty it is. I wanted to love it, but I didn’t. I’m really glad you do. It’s great when you get an awesome tea in a swap!

Shmiracles

i’m definitely a chocolate tea girl. and i know what it’s like to have hopes for a tea and then it doesn’t really live up to your expectations. bet eh, they can’t all be winners, right?
i will say that the tea isn’t what i thought it would be, but it’s still on my A list after this tatste.
coincidentally,
i DO see that you looooove the Caramel Vanilla Assam and lucky me AGAIN i just got that in a swap too! whoohoo!

Plunkybug

It’s a good tea.

I really enjoyed this tea! When I initially tried it I wasn’t sure how I felt, but each new cup I brewed just got better and better until I was totally hooked. I got hints of chocolatey orange goodness and the marshmallows added a nice creaminess to it, so good. I will definitely reorder this tea at some point.

I’m thrilled to try this one! thanks so much for sending a sample over, CharlotteZero! This is basically exactly as I wished it was… I used two teaspoons rather than 1 1/2 teaspoons. The dry leaves are different looking from any tea I’ve seen before… it looks like a golden Yunnan but the leaves are really short and really twisty. Both steeps had the same delicious flavor: I LOVE chocolate & marshmallow together (like the ice cream… or s’mores). The leaves themselves have a dark chocolate quality themselves. The chocolate chips help, but I think it’s mostly the leaves, especially if you use two teaspoons. There is a hint of marshmallow sweetness. I was hoping the orange would take a backseat, and it does… with just enough orange to add something unique to the blend. This one is really very good! Always a delightful tea time with Butiki!

The first time I tried this I was still sick and couldn’t taste much, but even so, I found the flavour overwhelming. Maybe I over steeped. I tried this again today and the flavour wasn’t as powerful as the first time, but still quite strong, and not sweet at all. Sometimes that’s a good thing, but I think in the case of this tea, it needs a little bit of sweetness to mellow out the bitterness of the orange peel. While I like the idea of this tea, there is just something not agreeing with me. I will play around with this a bit becuase I really want this to work, I love chocolate orange.
