Thanks to Stacy for setting up that FB contest. I was so surprised to win the flavoured prize!!! So excited!

NOTE: this is the re-envisioned version of this tea.

This smells amazing. Sweet coconut.

The taste is good. Yummy coconut that is creamy and slightly sweet on it’s own. The rooibos base comes through, and I could see how it can relate to pie crust, slightly nutty with an earthy base to it.

I added a tiny splash of milk to the last sip of the cup. This really amped up the cup and cut some of the earthiness of the rooibos. I think this would be best as a rooibos. I will certainly be trying that next time!

Congrat’s on the win! I read how everyone loves this. Wah… it has rooibos so I can’t drink it…allergic…(selfish of me to say so though since I still have lots of tea to drink!) It sounds so good!

Butiki Teas

Bonnie-I could make this for you with a different base tea if you’d like.

tigress_al

This would be so good as a black tea or a honeybush!

Butiki Teas

tigress_al, a black tea would work well. I’m thinking a Bai Mu Dan might be interesting too.

tigress_al

Ooooh white, you should sell that!

Bonnie

Didn’t you used to make this in a black before Stacy?

Butiki Teas

tigress_al-A white coconut cream pie would be interesting though it might be more like coconut milk.

Bonnie-Nope, its always been a rooibos.

tigress_al

Oh man, that would be sooo good, you should try it! I would totally buy it. And I bet Bonnie would too!

Butiki Teas

I could do a small batch if enough people are interested

After lunch, Drew & I shared a pot of this tasty tea for dessert!
This is a cup of Yummy, with flavors of coconut, cream, & a hint of lime.

We sipped & slurped. It’s Halloween, & we haven’t really done Halloween for a couple of years, so I said, “I think me & you & Leif should dress like Pirates & hand out candy”. So at 3:00 I went to the salt room, Drew went & bought candy, then we came home & pulled out my ‘dress up’ box, which is full of belly dance clothes, a variety of scarves, cloaks, pin on flowers, all kinds of things. I used to Belly Dance, I used to play at a renaissance festival, I also ride a Harley, so between all that stuff, we put last minute costumes together. When Leif got home from his college classes, we were setting things up on the front porch.

Drew (age 23) wore a scarf, a tie-die jacket, he held a 3 prong garden tool in one hand which I wrapped a scarf around (so it was his ‘hook’), & tie die baggy pants.

Leif (20) wore my old renaissance festival cloak, a bandana covering one eye, & a black beret.

I wore purple harem pants tucked into black harley riding boots, a white lacy shirt, my black harley leather vest, a scarf on my head, an ugly necklace, & an eye patch.

We sat out on the front porch, with “Yo Ho Yo Ho a pirate’s life for me” playing over and over again, singing along with the recording we had downloaded, stomping in unison, speaking pirate lingo to all the little kids, threatening to make them swab the deck & walk the plant & such, and making plans for next year. LOL, it was a great night!
photos are available on my FaceBook, Terri Stamper Langerak.

Bonnie

What great fun! Your grown kids are like mine and still play! We are fortunate indeed!

Terri HarpLady

Yes, we are! It was a good time, & my 2 daughters stopped by with the 3 grandkids. My daughter Jess said, “This is the funnest house in the neighborhood!” That felt good!

gmathis

ARRRRR! I want to come to your house, matey!

Butiki Teas

Sounds like lots of fun! :)

Nik

That sounds like a blast! :D

Terri HarpLady

It was a blast! I forgot how much fun Halloween can be, & the boys & I have already decided that next year we’re going to turn the front porch into a the deck of a ship: We’ll need sheets for sails, a jolly rodger flag, & some other stuff. I will also say, there weren’t nearly as many trick or treaters as there should have been, & I want to start a movement to ‘Bring Back Halloween’.

Nik

It would be fun to do something next year. This year’s kind of a bust because of Sandy—there was even a bulletin on the county’s web site, saying that trick-or-treating was postponed ‘til tomorrow. I understand why it had to be done, but still, that’s just odd.

I say the pictures on facebook, you guys looked Awesome!

:( I do not like not being sure if I have logged a tea before.

I knew I had this though, I just wasn’t sure how but thankfully my note isn’t way down hiding. I for some reason thought I tried it iced before but didn’t. Well good then. I am drinking it iced with some condensed milk. It looks a lot like Thai iced tea.

It’s okay. Like last time I think it could use more coconut. The creaminess is definitely there, and I think sweetening it up in this manner takes away from the gross rooibos taste.

I have the old version though so maybe the new one will be more to my tastes. Of course I have no intention of finding out anytime soon because I. DO. NOT. NEED. MORE. TEA.

CHAroma

I like your new profile pic! What kind of bird is it?

momo

Thank you! It’s my parakeet, Sebastian. Here’s his full body since his coloring is why I picked him out (other than the fact he was being cute): https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/1005859_10200192572086011_788828414_n.jpg

And he has two feet he just really loves to get comfortable and tuck one up haha.

CHAroma

Wow! He is super pretty! Just gorgeous!

I had a small sample of this waaaaaaaay back when Butiki was first starting out and Stacy offered a few free samples to some Steepsters. Guess that makes me old, in Steepster terms.

But now I have a new pouch of this, which has probably changed since I last had it, thanks to Azzrian! I haven’t been the biggest fan of rooibos, in the past, but I have to say this one is pretty delicious. Coconutty and creamy, with a hint of bright fruitiness from the rooibos. Not sure how old this is, but it seems like it might have benefitted from an even longer steep, since it is a bit less flavorful than I would have expected. Nonetheless, it is still very tasty and a nice evening drink.

I remember when I very first had this one back when I think they had just started out. It was very good! You’re making me miss their teas.

Butiki Teas

Dinosara-This blend had 2 major changes. If it has long coconut strands than it is most likely our current blend though it could have been our first blend in which case it would be really old.

Tamm-Ah yes, I remember sending out samples to Steepster “back in the day”. We weren’t just starting out but we just started focusing online. Before that we sold mostly in person at stores, events, and parties.

Dinosara

It has long strands of coconut, and I suspect it’s a newer blend.

Butiki Teas

That’s probably the latest blend then. The latest blend hasn’t been around for very long.

Made this iced for the first time and it’s great! Smooth coconut! I have to say though, I poured one glass over ice and it definitely diluted it. I am letting the rest of it cool and will chill it in the fridge, so that should come out even better! Yay! I am having a little too much fun icing teas!

Chelle

Me too! The local street market here, kind of a farmer’s market but better, has a new tea vendor. Samovar Gardens is just local here in northern Alabama. They sell large mason jars that you can have them filled with their iced teas while you shop the market. I bought three of their tea blends. The smashberry tisane was soooooo yummy. They grow all their own herbs, use their own grown fruits! They are only on Facebook. Can’t wait till Thursday (market day) to see their new blends!

Tealizzy

Nice! Cool to be supporting a local business too!!

Butiki teas has finally made me a believe that there are good rooibos out there! I am not a fan of rooibos at all but i loved this tea!!! Its coconut creaminess in a cup!!!!! The second steep I added a drop of vanilla cream!!! MMMMMMMMMMMM. definitely one to keep in my cupboard and will reach for during the autumn and winter seasons. I love love love!!! THANK YOU BUTIKI for helping me find a successful delicious cup of rooibos. So far the only I have come across. :)
I enjoyed this with a few of my german toasts [Brandt-Zwieback] :) Loved this since I was a baby. Takes me back in time.

Courtney

I’m also like that, I didn’t think there was ever going to be a rooibos I’d enjoy. This was the first one I somewhat enjoyed, then I tried Lime and Lemon Chiffon from Della Terra – so good!

Stephanie

Dang, now I want to try it! ;)

BrewTEAlly Sweet

@Courtney I got the lime chiffon in the mail a few weeks back and I can’t wait to try it. I was hesitant to order it because of the rooibos. I can’t wait ti try it now. :)
@Stephanie ;)

wiicked

I’ve been trying to find a roobois that I like so I may have to try this one!

wiicked

It would be sick if I could find one I actually like! :)

Stephanie

Coconut is one of my favorites too!

Stephanie

Have you tried Honeybush, wiicked?

wiicked

I tried a honey bush from teavana and I wasn’t a huge fan :/
Idk what it is

Stephanie

Ah, I dislike rooibos too but Honeybush is more tolerable.

BrewTEAlly Sweet

i agree with Stephanie. Honeybush is so much more tolerable!

Tealizzy

You should try this one iced…really yummy!!

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Will have to do! Thank you!

JustJames

i can’t wait, stacy is creating a coconut cream pie blend for me. she sent me pictures just to torment i think! lol.

Nice looking tea James. I love Ritter sport’s coconut chocolate bars. My favourite is the milk chocolate one but I don’t see it very often here. We use to get it in Warnemunde, Germany the summer I spent on a cruise ship. We use to stock up on candy and water than head to the beach, while most of the Pax made the long journey to Berlin.

JustJames

@yyz the beauty of the blend is all in stacy’s talents =0), can’t wait to try it. chocolate and coconut is a grand thing. (insert happy sigh).

yyz

It’s true but for me it has to be a fresh tasting coconut.. I’m not really that fond of toasted coconut.

Thank you Butiki Tea and Stacy for this sample!
Tonight I grilled a Ahi Tuna steak for a favorite sandwich. After grilling 1-2 minutes per side on a hot dry pan, rest the tuna a few minutes then cut into chunks. Dress with Soy sauce mixed with a little WASABI (um love it). Make a salad of chopped greens, cut up avacado, a little chopped green onion, fresh corn if you have it, a little jalapeno pepper if you want…tomato if you are not allergic like me…and mix with the tuna…then spritz with lime juice and put a glob of the mix on a hotdog type bun. This is really good! Should be enough to make a few sandwiches.

OK. What goes with this?

To follow my fab sandwich for dinner, I had this Coconut Cream Pie caffeine free Rooibos and watched a French Movie on Netflix in HD on my 60in big TV (this is the good life of a retired old lady!). Oh, and a piece of salted dark chocolate.

I think this tea is almost a vanilla coconut cream flavor. I am so thankful that Butiki knows how to create flavors that are pure without going sour in the mouth. It is a pet peeve of mine that some companies use flavoring that is like swigging out of a bottle of flavoring with the alcohol in it. YUK! This is GOOD flavor not the bad stuff! The aftertaste lingers pleasantly long afterwards with that mostly vanilla note. I was tempted to get creative and run for my Lapsang Souchong to add a little…but this is not about mixing tea this time around. Butiki deserves it’s own time spotlighting this tea!

Mercuryhime

Tasty sounding recipe! Sounds like asianed up ceviche. Might be good as a soft taco! Also. Yum! Coconut tea!

Bonnie

Less runny than ceviche and less citrus…ceviche actually would cook the tuna. This one the lime (if you have any) is just a splash to brighten the buttery avacado. But the soft taco shell would work as well as the bun. This works well as dinner on a hot day with a cold drink. Short cooking time and fast.

Azzrian

I love Ahi!!! This tea sounds wonderful too!

Kittenna

Oh Bonnie. I agree with Ian, your posts leave me hungry. Now all I want to eat is a lovely ahi tuna steak (so I think I’ll stop by the store on the way home tomorrow morning).

Bonnie

I had this tea before I knew I was allergic to Rooibos…who knew! It was really good though!

Why do some rooibos teas make me feel like I’m having an allergic reaction, while others I’m just fine with? This is, unfortunately, one of the teas that makes me feel like the back of my throat is scratched out. I’m so confused. Into the swap box it goes.

Regardless, it’s a beautiful tea. Creamy, coconut, really does make me think of pie. Truvia added makes it that much better.

JustJames

was it green or red? the greens bother me less than the reds, but i can’t tell you why.

MissB

Red. I’m 100% fine with greens. Only some red rooibos bugs me though. I even strained this one three times.

JustJames

red gets me each and every time. 80\ without fail.

tigress_al

:(. That’s no fun

I let this get cold, but while it was hot it was ‘really, really’ good, and now that it’s cold it’s only just ‘really’ good.

I approve.
