Graveyard Mist Green Tea

One of the most unusual teas I own. I bought this from 52teas when I was ordering Mom’s Spiced Peach Preserves Black Tea a few months ago. With a name of “Graveyard Mist”, I’d deliberately saved this one to try on Hallowe’en. So here it is!
Others here are more familiar than I with marshmallow root. If I remember the essence of marshmallow—that light sweetness—then that is what I taste. Strange how it’s such a strong yet subtle a flavor all at once. In combination with the spearmint, however, the predominant flavor tastes to me like…wintergreen, of all things.
If you like wintergreen, then you will definitely like this tea. I enjoy a good toasted marshmallow about once every five to ten years. That should tell you why I have to work a bit when trying to remember what marshmallow tastes like. They’re normally too sweet for me. It’s an interesting taste juxtaposition, with the green tea, malt, and spearmint.
I made it as hot tea, but it’s also cooled quite a bit, so I have literally enjoyed it both hot and cool tonight. This tea is for when you want a cup of something out of the ordinary. This is the tea to drink when you want to look up at the moon and just dream.

I kept swinging back on forth on whether or not to get this one. Spooky vibes=YES, and but I was mixed about the toothpaste qualities. Smelling it, I got that vibe, but tasting it…it’s a really good vanilla mint tea. Actually, it reminds me of vanilla mint quality of tic tacs. The spearmint can be a bit much for me, though keeping the steeping time under 2 minutes gets the profile I like. The body is also viscous from the green tea and very smooth. The vanilla was more prominent in steep 2 as well.

Again, I’m very happy I got to try it. I’m not sure if I’d make it a staple, but this beats out a lot of other green mint teas I’ve had that are just too grassy. My mom was very much into this one, and she’s picky about some of the flavored teas.

OK – so this may seem like a bit of a stretch – but I’m logging this tea as my “tea with a flavor note/ingredient from a favorite Girl Scout Cookie” – because one of my favorite cookies from GS are thin mints. They’re a nostalgic favorite for me – because this was the cookie that I enjoyed as a girl scout. This was the cookie that my stepmother would always buy like 12 boxes of from both me and my stepsister and would keep in the freezer. Now, I think that I prefer Samoa – but I don’t have any more of the Calico & Black Cat tea in my cupboard so, this is gonna have to do.

Also, this tea is back in stock. (Yay!) I love it when I blend this tea, because when it’s time to taste test it, and I open the containment after the tea has cured – it smells so amazing. It reminds me of Spearmint gum which is also a nostalgic flavor for me.

Anyway, the sweet of the marshmallow & the vibrant note of spearmint evokes thoughts of thin mints to me, because they were always more mint than chocolate (the chocolate notes were always a bit waxy to me, which I didn’t hate, but a thin mint wasn’t my favorite “chocolatey” thing, but it was my favorite “minty” thing and since this tea has a wonderful mint note, that’s what evokes those thin mint vibes from me.)

Advent Season 2021 Day 24

Made this as an eggnog latte and while it was nice, I think spearmint may be slightly too strong for eggnog. Still, thank you Sil for the chance to try this out. You gave me a lot so it’ll be fun to try it in different ways!

So this is actually one of Anne’s permanent blends, but it made its way into the January subscription box as well. And I’m happy about it, as this is one that I really wanted to try, but was waiting for other blends to come back in stock!

I feel like I’m always underwhelmed by marshmallow root… It sounds so yummy to me, and yet I can’t really taste it in blends. Maybe it’s just more subtle than I expect? But I see a lot of other people mentioning that they taste marshmallow in this tea, and I’m not really getting that.

I mostly just taste a mild spearmint green tea with perhaps a hint of something creamy or vanilla. The green base itself is very mild, so I’m not getting a ton of flavor from it. Perhaps it’s just hiding underneath the sharper spearmint, which ends up being the dominant flavor here for me.

I wish I loved it as much as others seemed to, but c’est la vie! I guess I should be happy to not love them all… ;)

Still one of my favorite mint teas. The marshmallow root combined with the spearmint really gets me.

Kelmishka Homemade Advent Day 16! I’ve received this tea in the subscription box several times throughout the years, and I’m always happy to see it. It’s so smooth, creamy, and minty, but well-balanced. It’s perfect cold with just a little sugar. It’s definitely my favorite minty tea!

This here is a natural segue from the oolongs and greens that I have been drinking this week.

Graveyard Mist is one of 52Teas’ classics. Pillows of vanilla marshmallow goodness and spearmint on a green base. Super lovely. Fresh and indulgent at the same time.

I’m not a big mint fan nor do I drink green tea all that regularly, but this blend lights up my world when I am in the mood for it. Today, mid-April, when my world outside is covered in a blanket of snow and ice, seems like a good day to be inside and comforting myself with this delight.

I love fall and today is a rainy fall day. That means tea and reading for this gal! I was surprised when I found this one in my green tea bucket. I have had this for a year. I received it fro my secret pumpkin last year! I wanted a whole pot today, which requires 5 tsp, according to the suggestions from Breville, in 1200 mls of water.

The dry leaf smells awesome with a dominant scent of spearmint. I did add a tad of sweetener. I am loving the mint mixed with the vegetal tones! A smooth and balanced tea

A sad sipdown, but it was time. I really hope to see this one reblended! The spearmint + marshmallow is one of my favourite flavour combinations. I’d really love to see a herbal version with spearmint as the base, but this is probably wishful thinking on my part.
