81 Tasting Notes
this is one of two teas that I purchased after the advent. this tea, I knew, would be so perfect as an iced tea for the summer and lo, it is. enjoyed iced with just a teeny bit of agave and some…slightly sad strawberries that have been in the fridge for too long sorry strawberries :(
I bet this would be equally good iced + strawberries in the tea, as opposed to eating them separate. it would probably also be tasty with lemonade as well, bc the lemon flavour, while nice, could be stronger. hmmmmm.
this is just /chef’s kiss/
malty, creamy, bittersweet chocolate-y it does remind me a little of Ancient Spirit which is a good thing bc that is my absolute favourite tea. I was so excited to see this sample in my last WP order and am patiently waiting for this to be restocked.
edit, here is a nice song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abKBYZX_1sM
sip down. goddamn I regret only getting an ounce of this.
@derk, do ittttt! I think you will love it.
@Whispering Pines, I had signed up for the email notification for it and have already enjoyed more :) ALSO thank you so much for the sample of Red Temple, it was one I really wanted to try bc Ancient Spirit is my favourite tea ever, but it was out of stock when making my most current order!
um. hi. hello. hey.
I AM OBSESSED WITH THIIIIIS. this tea has everything I have ever wanted in it and I am so pleased. funnily enough this was just a last minute addition to my last order bc it felt weird just restocking one tea. ended up with the tea bags bc the loose leaf was sold out, and it’s been convenient to have around. HOWEVER I noticed yesterday that the loose leaf was bag in stock and promptly ordered three bags. so. much. for. my. budgeeeetttttt. and dammit, I did so good not getting anything from the Bitterleaf salllllle (but I did cave earlier and got a vampire-witch-cat tea pet bc I could not resist. it is so wonderful. and Percy was a vampire for Halloween!! how perfect!!)

^^^I would not lie to you, I still put her in that cape for treat time! it is the best thing!!
ANYWAY, this is no dian hong, but it IS a very beautiful ROSEMARY-Y/assam-y/piney/black curranty/slightly cinnamony experience. it’s winter in a cup. /chefs kiss/
@Shae, the tea pet was from Bitterleaf:

they are sold out now, but I think I read somewhere that they will be restocked!
Aww, I’m sad those tea pets are sold out too. I’d totally get the black cat one. My rescue kitty is a solid black cat named “Chiya”, the Nepali word for “tea”
I went to see The Lighthouse today and while perusing the theater’s menu (I wasn’t really hungry, but contemplating getting a baked pretzel…you know?) I noticed that there was an option for a ‘pot of hot tea’ and it was like, comparatively, pretty cheap. so I got that. it was a lil’ thermos of hot water and two tea bags. this tea has a pretty low rating and I’m not sure why, it is a pretty okay english breakfast. very malty and smooth. very assam-y. I’m into it.
I’m still processing the film though. I think it needs a second viewing…..and possibly more tea.
I’ve been drinking this before bed, I am on the verge of being an insomniac and someone at work said I should try peppermint tea before sleep. I’m not sure if it’s helping me sleep, but damn, it is very delicious and REFRESHING. I’ve had various peppermint teas in the past, but this one was the first one that left me like: damn, this is refreshing, I AM REFRESHED.
that is all. I hope you are doing well.
off topic: I saw Parasite last night and I want to see it five more times. I love Bong Joon-ho so much.
I use peppermint tea for upset stomach/digestive issues (which come from my chronic migraines). The refreshingness of it makes it very nice as an iced tea, too; just stick a teabag (or two) in a water bottle overnight and it’s a great iced tea.
To actually help with sleep? Valerian root does the trick with me. It doesn’t taste the best, but pairing it with mint and lavender seems to help with that. It really knocks me out. I know some folks prefer chamomile and pair it with that instead, but I don’t like the taste of chamomile, myself (SST’s chamomile blend is “Meadow” which, I’d have to say, is one of the only chamomile teas I can even stomach, because SST is kinda magic that way).
For quite some time, I couldn’t drink earl greys because they would cause headaches. I hated that bc this is one of my favourite earl greys and I just COULDN’T. curse my dumb body, basically.
but today, I am drinking up the last of this can. earlier this week, I steeped the last bits in a big ole pitcher and threw in some vanilla syrup and that is what I’ve been taking to work these last few mornings. no headaches. I love this tea and I’ll be savoring this last bit it of it. /chef’s kiss/
hi everyone, it was the hottest day in A CENTURY where I live. it was 109 degrees!! 109! on the first day of school (I work at a university, no longer a student)! UGH.
this is the tea I packed this morning, because of its sharpness. I needed that sharp, grassy, in your face matcha this morning. I think that this is my favourite of the 3 from MMU, with MMU03 being a close second (I don’t care for MMU02, it’s fine but…meh).

about a month ago I bought one of those neat Hario cold brew bottles bc, who knows why. well, I do know why and it’s because of laziness. it was “too difficult” and “too annoying” to put some damn tea in a bottle before I went to sleep and then THEN I had to deal with it in the morning and it was apparently TOO MUCH for me to handle. what I can handle is putting this glass thing in the fridge and putting nice, cold tea in an INSULATED bottle, refilling the glass bottle, and going on my way. I had been making my cold brews in one of these things that i bought years ago, I love love the double lids, but in 90+ degree heat, I need an insulated bottle: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L3QXUL6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
TLDR, I’M LAZY AND NOT ALIVE IN THE MORNINGS AND I LOVE THAT GLASS HARIO COLD BREW…THING! and this tea? THIS TEA IS DELIGHTFUL. it is the sweetest sencha I’ve ever had, it is bright and so refreshing. I’m so glad that this was unearthed from the tea cabinet, so good. so sorry for ignoring you for so long :(
I love putting fruit inside ice cubes for cold drinks, it sounds like strawberry ice cubes would be great in this tea!
Do you think you’d recommend their advent calendar in general? I was considering it, but ended up going for some others instead.
@Nattie, that is a perfect idea!! thank you :)
@AJRimmer, I would recommend it if the following things are true for you: 1) you love rooibos and 2) you love chai (or having lots of clove and ginger generally in your tea). the things I loved about this advent were the packaging, the tea was in tiny lil plastic containers, and this was enough for one cup. the blends with strawberry (which ended up being the two I bought after) were amazing. the names? YES. what I would recommend would be to take some time and look at all of their blends and see if you are interested in those, I should have done that and maybe I would have realized that ‘hey, it looks like most of these are going to be given away’ :)
I also did the advent from Tea Bento and it was a+
Oh awesome, thanks for the review! I do like rooibos and chai, so I may go for it this year!
