SkySamurai’s mystery advent tea #6 backlog from 12/19
I’m really banking this is a herbal blend as I’m saving it for nighttime.  (Not that caffeine affects me at this point, probably.)  But visually it looks very different than anything else I have tried! A rainbow of herbally ingredients. (It COULD have yerba mate in it?)  The scent is like catnip or mustard.   The flavor seems the same!  Definitely not mint – seems savory and mustard.  The brew is almost clear! I don’t think I’ve had this before… whatever it is.  It does seem slightly like that Viking moxie blend. Some odd sweetness happening.  Possibly blackberry leaf?  Maybe linden blossom?  I’ve only had linden blossom in one tea before.  The second steep is almost unbearably too strong… can’t say I like it, so I’m intrigued to find out what this blend actually consists of.  Watch this be the one time I’m allergic to a food….  My guess:  a herbal something or other.  Was I correct? Yes?  It’s an herbal but I can’t say I would have guessed any of these ingredients.  I’ve never heard of this shop and it looks like their inventory actually burned, which is terrible.   However, NONE of the ingredients in the Viking Moxie blend are involved in this one. The ingredients list sounds like the result should be better than what I’m actually tasting though.
Steep #1  // 1 teaspoon for full mug // 22 minutes after boiling  // 2 minute steep
Steep #2  // 8 minutes after boiling //  3-4 minute steep

I generally don’t drink this one unless I’m not feeling great. They have another blend that has pine needles in it!

My icon photo is Richard Mayhew from the graphic novel ‘Neverwhere’ by Neil Gaiman, Mike Carey & Glenn Fabry.

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
