One thing I did not expect when brewing this today that it would turn out almost Greenish Gray! I was worried I understeeped it due to the light color and had to double check it was a Black tea and not a green.

The flavor is light but noticeable. I would highlight this as a cleansing, “pretty” tea. It’s fragrant in smell and taste but not perfumey. It’s nicely balanced. Does remind me of clear and tranquil waters. They chose a good name for it - although I don’t see “blue”. The juniper berries are first

I will enjoy drinking the rest of this mini sampler, but probably do not love enough for a big order.

I liked it. Similar to others of this blend. Love the artwork on it. Sugar helps tame any sourness of the Hibiscus. Caffeine tree, so a nice hot treat near bedtime if in mood for fruity and color.

This tastes/smells like a mix between wet dog and the inside of a Big Lots. I don’t know of any other way to describe it.

TTB Review #36: After only about 3 hours of sleep last night, I needed something STRONG to start off my day. This tea seemed to have done the trick. I can tell that there’s plenty o’ honey, but I’m also getting strong grape notes, which I didn’t realize at first until I saw one of the other reviews mention it. The moment I read that I was like, “Yes, 100% artificial grape!” Not the biggest fan but this morning all I want is just a strong bolt of caffeine, so it’ll do.

I love fall and fall flavors, but many of them end up a disappointment. I tried this one after clocking out of work and relaxing on the porch with my Kindle Fire and playing some of the very addicting Homescapes game. Brewed a large TB in 6 oz in a tea pot to keep moving in my cup.

Many maple blends and fall blend come across too spicy – this one lists cinnamon and that is clear right away, but it’s not an artificial or candy type cinnamon. There is not pepper in this blend, and it’s a very good blend of spice that is subtle but not distracting. The Maple was at first a little subtle although the strongest note, but got stronger and sweeter the more I drank. Just for kicks, added a touch of Maple Syrup to enhance.

I did steep at first at 3 minutes but that’s a bit too weak. I recommend up to 5 with this one re-added for another few minutes while sipping and that strengthened.

It said to brew at 212, but I did the “oolong” setting on my electric kettle since it is an oolong tea. Will try at 212 later to see if there is a difference.

Very good and very “fall” feeling. Another winner so far from trying from this company.

Forever searching for a replacement for Maple Pecan Oolong, so this one got me excited. Added it to the wishlist.

Nattie, I am in no way an expert so hopefully you enjoy this one based off my recommendation!

Fingers crossed!

This was my first sampler of this company based on a recent semi-large order. I am a big smoked tea fan, and have become very much a fan of earl greys the past two years.

The website does not list all the ingredients, but according to the package it is: Lapsang Souchong, Keenum, Yunnan, Bergamont Flavoring, and White tea. Updated the listed on Steepster.

I tried it yesterday first but the pairing of food was a disaster. I enjoy eating cheeses and sometimes crackers with cheese, I find that they compliment tea without altering the flavors, probably because of the creaminess of the cheeses and sometimes the buttery crackers. My mom gifted me with a ghouda cheese with pepper, and I dug into both at the same time. A mistake. This ghouda cheese had chilies (???), so the pepper in this case did not make me trust the sampler as it was too spicy. I got the smoke, but was thinking the cheese was overpowering any earl grey.

So, today, second sampler. 6 oz water with 1 tbsp and I kept the brew at the recommendation of 4 minutes. This is a STRONG tea. It is only for Smoke fans. It is not “mild smokiness”. The Lapsang is the predominant tea certainly. The last ingredient listed is white tea, which I don’t get, unless they use to soften or that is how they add in the Earl Grey.

Speaking of which, the earl grey part is very small. I sense it today but it is more of the last note of the sips, and not the main when first drinking. It is smoke, then pleasant and smooth black tea, then some mild earl grey.

Very enjoyed! Would go great on evenings with porch reading, a cozy blanket, and non-spicy sharp cheddar :D

Reading this just made me want cheese lol!

Also, I really love Lupicia’s Earl Grey Grand Classic if you ever want a more subtly smoky Earl Grey. :)

Lupiressmoon

Haha happy to spread around the cheese cravings :D
And thanks for the recommendation of another to try

Nattie

Ooooh that cheese sounds good! Now I wanna eat cheese paired with a Lapsang. The idea of a smoky EG is intriguing to me, but the Keemun puts me off since I’m not a big fan. What an unusual blend!

Lupiressmoon

Nattie, it is definitely a strong tea and I enjoyed it :)

And yes, cheese and strong teas are so perfect together for me, especially the smoky teas

This tastes a lot more grapey than I expected. It’s also quite floral, which I guess is the honey. It seems pretty high quality and interesting, though it’s not exactly my preferred sort of flavor profile. Thanks to the TTB for this sample!

Lupiressmoon

I just ordered the Pisces sampler set from them – love their ideas of samplers, and two others. Don’t have Honey Black, but am excited to try the samplers from this company.

AJRimmer

I hope they’re good! This company is local to me, but I don’t really buy from them since the majority of the teas they sell are from other companies and not their own blends. I think I’ve generally enjoyed the ones I’ve tried though!

Lupiressmoon

I love the artwork on their packages and some of the names – sometimes it’s the little things with me :D

This is the first tea I’ve tried with bee pollen in it. What a unique concept. But the flavor starts off too weird. Reminds me of wet dog. Rotting logs mixed with wet stinky workout clothes. As those flavors subside you begin to taste the honey notes which are very nice despite the notes before them. The liquor aroma is the same. This could work but I think it would have to be mixed with something else to cover those initial flavors.

Cameron B.

I agree with the wet dog comparison, I am not a fan of bee pollen in tea.

tea-sipper

Also find this with bee pollen. Not a fan. :/

I’m not tasting any honey. It’s just coming across as a brisk black tea. Meh.

Sample grabbed from a TTB. I’m not a coconut fan, but I actually really like this. The coconut is so fresh and strong and a bit naturally sweet. It can survive a decently long steep. It’s really good! Only nice things to say about this one, and this company is right in town if I want more.

A bright Sencha blend, very rose heavy in this cup.
I can taste some of the cherry but the floral overpowers it, I will likely try it iced next.

For a decaf EG, this is pretty impressive! The bergamot is strong and clear. The black tea is hearty enough to not be disappointing. With my usual amount of milk and sugar, this is quite the satisfying cup of tea!

Courtney

For some bizarre reason as I was quickly scrolling by, I thought this was called “Earl Grey Disappointed”! I was momentarily saddened, but then realised my mistake haha.

AJRimmer

Ha I love that!

Shae

Just had some Twinings decaf Earl Grey the other day and it was disappointing. Glad to know there are some good options out there!

I didn’t expect to enjoy this, but I’ll always try a new tea box herbal. There’s a shocking level of throat spice from this tea. Other than that, it’s quite watery and thin. It’s like taking a shot of cayenne and black pepper water. There are a ton of other ingredients, but none of them show up. This is super weird and not at all pleasant. I only drank a few sips. It was even worse cool.

gmathis

My eyes are watering solely from your description!

AJRimmer

It’s such a weird tea!!

Sometimes I am really in the mood for licorice, sometimes I am absolutely not. I bought this last year, and I’m just trying it now (I guess I haven’t been in the mood for licorice). Black licorice seems to fit with spooky season for me, so I decided to finally give this a try. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how tasty it is. Much more soft and delicate than I expected.

Mastress Alita

I love black licorice! I should try some of this sometime.

Heeey White Antlers, where are you? Thanks for this herbal tea!

Tastes like twilight in the high desert. Look to the stars and breathe in the sky. The unmistakable aroma of scrubby shrubs, dry grass, juniper, hard earth still retaining the heat of the day. Stray rosehips and lemongrass.

<3 fond <3

Excellent cold brew, almost syrupy. Very nice hot as well, a classic herbal tea taste and body.

Flavors: Dry Grass, Herbal, Lemongrass, Pine, Rosehips, Tangy

Have you ever licked a cedar chest? Can’t say I have. But I wouldn’t put it past the toddler version of myself to do so. This tea is fairly heavy with cedar influence when it comes to the flavor. The aroma, however, initially when the hot water hits it is woodsy. Then it changes to a strange medicinal pitch with a hint of vaseline… Luckily that went away pretty quickly and morphed into fresh barn hay. The flavor for the first 3ish sessions was stone fruit with cedar backdrop and after that became more woodsy. Around the 5th or 6th is was very cedar in flavor. The mouthfeel almost makes me feel as is Ive licked a cedar chest.

As someone who enjoys the bergamot flavors of earl grey, but in moderation, this blend is the perfect balance for me. It’s become my staple go-to tea for mornings and afternoons, and I’ll re-steep my pot multiple times. None of the flavors overpower, but instead all of them blend well into a nice subtle balance that can be drinkable at any time.

I tried this tea from White Antlers again, and this time I steeped it longer and crushed the berries.

It was a game changer! It was lightly lemony, a bit smoky, a bit piney, and finally a bit of the juniper. Overall, interesting combination; worked well alltogether, but maybe even more flavour would be nice. Longer steeps are the key.

Not a tea that I would crave for often, but certainly not a bad one.

Another pouch from derk. Thank you.
Steeped as suggested, 1.5 tsp, 100°C, 5-7 minutes.

I had to seach what “cota” is. In Czech it is called Marunek or Rmen. Never had it as a herbal tea.

It had somehow generic lemony taste, I was expecting some notes from juniper but nada. No pine notes too! Have I took bad teaspoons? Do I need to have more cota in, or more juniper? Should I crush the berries when brewed? So many questions, some tea left for trying. Won’t rate so far.

Martin I sent this to derk. I got very little flavor from it, so I do not think you are doing anything wrong with your brewing.

Martin Bednář

Thank you then White Antlers. I wonder what derk will think about this tea. It is interesting blend nevertheless.

White Antlers

I ordered a few things from them and was disappointed with all of the tea. Of course, flavored and weird herbal tea blends are not things I enjoy, so I admit to being a fool to even order-but you know what? Live and learn. : )

Martin Bednář

I do like to try new and weird different stuff. I never heard of cota tea before, while I have heard about the plant. I was just expecting some notes from that juniper. I will try to crush the berries next time. I was just bored that it was so basical lemony taste.
I was lucky to drink some native American tea blend. I even wrote a tasting note, it could be about year ago. While it was so weird, I had no expectations and yes, it wasn’t great. It was rather awful. But I loved trying it!

White Antlers

It is delightful to see your sense of wonder and adventure, Martin!
