This certainly is better with milk. I’ve tried it steeped only in water and once on the stovetop with milk. This time, steeped in water with a bit of milk added, is the way to go.
I like Coco Chai Rooibos. But I don’t know why I don’t love it. I love chai, I love rooibos, I love coconut. I suppose maybe I prefer a richer chai? Or maybe there is too much ginger in here for me. I’m not sure. I enjoy drinking it when I have it, but never think to buy it.
Finally, a cup of tea! This is the first one that I have had time to ake so far today. The lovely beau tucked out 50 g bag of Zing Me into my purse so that I could have some of this today. I might need to try to get a bit more of this delight before it’s all gone, since it’s been discontinued. However, I do have a new peach apricot from Sawadee to try – Maybe it will live up to my Zing Me standards : )
I’ve opted for a shorter steep today, and will probably get to enjoy 2 or 3 cups. This (the first) infusion is very sweet – peachy, apricotty. Delicious. There is a slight ginger burn at the end, and the base tea is there underneath it all more in smell than anything, but it is there. Almost reminiscent of Cloud Nine right now, only with that juicy peach as well.
EDIT: Second steep came out quite nice. Still peachy, not much there by way of ginger or tea. Surprisingly sweet, but that could be the absence of tea and ginger. I didn’t realize how much they do to temper the sweetness of the fruit! This cup was steeped 5 minutes or do…I forgot about it. D’oh!

Aiiiiieeee!!!!! It’s been discontinued!?!? Noooooo!! This is one of my favorite teas from David’s! I must get there and stock up asap! Thanks for the heads up! :)
I’ve never tried steeping this tea twice, definitely going to attempt it today!
I think I threw a post about it on the discussion board, but that would have been on Saturday. I am still a little heartbroken…we bought an extra 50 g to top up and are now hoping that our DT gets another bag in (I hate the bottom of the tin – Everything is broken!). It’s still online though, so you can order some if the local shops are out.
Re-steeped this morning’s leaves this evening while supper was cooking. The flavours were extremely muted, likely because I made 4 cups out of one tsp. Still nummy, though the beau would have appreciated more flavour. Apparently. : )
Preparation
Backlogging:
I love this tea. I really do. I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed lately by all my fruity/berry teas (at work) so a hot mug of gingery zing me was perfect this morning. I quite enjoy the apricot/ginger mixed with black tea but I found that today, like many others, the apricot was hidden under the ginger and black. This is likely because I over-steep it as I am wont to do. It never comes out bitter, but the ginger burn will increase if you leave it too many minutes. I can’t remember ever adding anything to this tea…It was one of the first (flavoured) blacks that taught me to enjoy tea as it, then see if you need something more.
This is one of the teas I would like to have on hand at all times, so it (happily!) escapes the “no more tea” ban that the beau and I have imposed. Exception being Vanilla Comoro if I want to buy some after I try it. : )
Preparation
Another favourite! Just like the doctor, all I needed was a good cup of tea – and Zing Me was the one for me this morning! Wakes you up with a lovely ginger/apricot mix, with the strength of the flavours depending of course on how much tea is used and how long it’s steeped. This tea will definitely be re-bought if I can ever bring myself to use what I have left…I tend to hoard my favourites, rather than gulp them down.
Preparation
I’m the same way with my favorites, I have a box above my cupboard that I put all my treasured tea in…I really should drink them more!
But if you drink them all, then they’ll be gone! I know that’s the point, but it seems every time I finish a favourite, it’s gone out of stock in my area or altogether.
Growing up, I’ve never found lemon meringue pie to be appealing besides its smell. The aroma of the tea was more than marvelous, and I would’ve eaten the leaves any day (provided that, if it was a norm thing to do!). Looking at the bright color of the leaves and lemon, one can observe that DavidsTea uses fresh lemons. By doing so, after steeping the tea, the first few sips bombarded me with nothing but sour stingy lemon juice, which I hate. However, I added some “Agave Nectar” and it glorified the taste by a lot. The fragrant of the steeped tea wasn’t as obvious but you can definitely taste a little zesty hint! If you aren’t a rooibos lover, I’ll tell you that the taste is so subtle, so give it a shot! Drinking this tea as I’m writing this review, I am off to bed now after this delicious treat!
Preparation
Finished up this one today. Steeped approximately 3 minutes at 80 degrees (because I remembered there is green tea!) it was quite nice. This is one of those ones that I enjoy, but get annoyed about because DT recommends boiling water on the label, but that makes it bitter and gross because of the green. It is lightly fruity and flowery, with decent black and green teas behind it. If I ever get my tea stash pared down to 1/4 of it’s size, I would consider keeping this as permanent stock. There is nothing else in my collection that is similar. Glad to have a sipdown though!
Breakfast tea! Luckily, I remembered that this has green tea in it today and didn’t allow the water to boil. The trouble with first thing in the morning tea is that I tend to make one of my favourites, and I forget to actually pay attention. As some of you may have noticed, I rarely drink green tea, or even tea with green in it, so boil away is my default setting! I have a number of really yummy green teas, honestly, but since I rarely have the time to sit and enjoy multiple infusions it seems a waste. I was looking forward to trying out a few good greens and oolongs this weekend, but I’m going to celebrate one of my younger brother’s birthdays and won’t be home all weekend. We’ll see how much tea I end up taking with… : ) Maybe I’ll convert him? My father is a dedicated Red Rose drinker…I intend to try to get at least one cup of loose in him. I’ve tried before though, and it never works.
Anyway, on to the Three Wishes! Nice and yummy, sweet lightly fruity and floral taste. Not much black tea going on in there. I could have heated the water quite a bit more, I think. I just make that up in general. I quite like this tea.
Preparation
My mother in law is a Red Rose drinker too (She’s from NS as well). She’s tried a few of our favorite teas, but she loves her Red Rose. shrugs I keep some on hand for her, why waste good tea on someone drinking it and wishing it was Red Rose? LOL.
My Dad has a couple giant boxes of it at all times. I have nothing against bagged teas and I certainly drink it when there, but there is so much more as well!
Also, YAY NS!
I realized this morning why this always comes out a bit bitter for me – I was too busy following the instructions to actually look in the tea. There’s green tea in here! I was inhaling the scent as usual, when I finally opened my eyes. The base is a mix of black and green tea, so boiling isn’t really the way to go. For shame, David’s Tea!
Anyway, I used water that was NOT boiling and none of that burnt/bitter flavour appeared. Lesson learned – Look at your tea!!
Preparation
It was my yummy first thing in the morning tea today. I like to think I don’t like flowery teas, but there are definitely floral notes in here and I enjoy it anyway. Sweet, though it can get a titch bitter if left to steep to long. A lovely tea, really.
Preparation
It’s a drowsy Monday afternoon, I figured I would give this tea a shot. Surprisingly, this has woken me up from my near coma state.
I have tried several lemon ginger teas and was never really fond of them, however this one was pretty drinkable!
Upon opening the package, I caught a pungent lemon scent that my friend informed me smelled like “Lemon Pinesol” (I’m not so sure about that!). When steeped, the warm, earthy, ginger flavor is boosted by a fresh lemon undertone, and finishes with a wonderful bite. It seems to me the tea features the ginger more than the lemon.
For this tea I did not add any sweeteners, and I gave it an average steep. But in the midst of trying to stay awake, I accidently steeped at a warmer temperature. It was still a pleasant experience, but I am curious how the flavors complement one another when I steep it like David’s intended :)
Preparation
THEY BROUGHT IT BACK.
IT’S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.
One of the girls at the David’s tea near my house simply raves about this tea. It was her all time favorite, but at the limited edition holiday tea for 2009, I didn’t think I’d get the chance to ever try it. But! They brought it back!!
This tea actually glitters. The little gold balls in the tea dissolve, and actually make the tea shimmer! It’s the best!
As for taste—it’s a very simple cinnamon black, which I find just perfect for drinking on cold winter day. It warms one up like a cup of hot chocolate! It’s not overpoweringly cinnamon, and there are little silver sugar crystals in it so it doesn’t need to be sweetened at all.
I’m a big fan and plan to stock up before it disappears again!
Preparation
Tart, juicy then sweet in both fragrance and taste. The green tea is of good quality and rich flavor and the apple was fairly defined. I would have liked this to be more plummy, but it’s such a subtle flavor that it’s difficult to get a strong plum taste without making it seem fake. Overall, not bad.
Preparation
I don’t know if “cute” is a word often used for a tea but it fits this one. Opening the bag, you see a dark tea with little fluorescent orange flecks. Upon closer inspection, you see that they are tiny pumpkins. Hence the “cute.” These worried me at first because I thought they might be candies that would make the tea too sweet but they didn’t.
The tea also smells great. It’s slightly spicy and vegetative with an underlying presence of classic tea fragrance.
Prepared, this tea smells like freshly baked gingerbread with a touch of yam. It wasn’t discernibly “pumpkin” but you could tell there was definitely something from the veggie aisle. The flavor was slightly astringent and there was a great finish to the cup with a lingering squash/pumpkin flavor. There wasn’t much of a classic chai taste but there was just enough spice to make this interesting.
Preparation
Pretty big favourite of mine – Something likely to be replaced in my cupboard for a long while yet. I have mixed feelings about rooibos, always depending on what flavours are mingled with it, but I find this a lovely tea.
Sweet, floral, a little druity. Delicious!
