Finally, a cup of tea! This is the first one that I have had time to ake so far today. The lovely beau tucked out 50 g bag of Zing Me into my purse so that I could have some of this today. I might need to try to get a bit more of this delight before it’s all gone, since it’s been discontinued. However, I do have a new peach apricot from Sawadee to try – Maybe it will live up to my Zing Me standards : )
I’ve opted for a shorter steep today, and will probably get to enjoy 2 or 3 cups. This (the first) infusion is very sweet – peachy, apricotty. Delicious. There is a slight ginger burn at the end, and the base tea is there underneath it all more in smell than anything, but it is there. Almost reminiscent of Cloud Nine right now, only with that juicy peach as well.
EDIT: Second steep came out quite nice. Still peachy, not much there by way of ginger or tea. Surprisingly sweet, but that could be the absence of tea and ginger. I didn’t realize how much they do to temper the sweetness of the fruit! This cup was steeped 5 minutes or do…I forgot about it. D’oh!
Aiiiiieeee!!!!! It’s been discontinued!?!? Noooooo!! This is one of my favorite teas from David’s! I must get there and stock up asap! Thanks for the heads up! :)
I’ve never tried steeping this tea twice, definitely going to attempt it today!
I think I threw a post about it on the discussion board, but that would have been on Saturday. I am still a little heartbroken…we bought an extra 50 g to top up and are now hoping that our DT gets another bag in (I hate the bottom of the tin – Everything is broken!). It’s still online though, so you can order some if the local shops are out.

I was running around a bit today at the Mall and the Post Office, mailing off a sample tea packet to of all places Denver! Yo Jason the tea is on the way! Got home a bit late but fortunately, last night I made dinner ahead. It was cheese tortellini and I put a tea basket with some …wait for it…Lapsang Souchong in the water (I’m hooked on that smoky flavor) and it was fantastic tasting. All I had left to do is heat and dress the pasta with a bit of olive oil. Then, a salad and done. After dinner I wanted a nice fruity tea. This Zing Me Tea was going to be the compliment I was looking for. The ginger, peach and apricot sounded just right.
When I looked up the steep time it said “steep 4-6 minutes” so I set the timer at 5 minutes and stopped right there. The aroma was very apricoty and delightful. Oh yes, I was anxious for a taste.
At first, the flavor was nice and fruity for a few seconds…and then…and then…something awful happened.
There was the worst, bitter ginger taste that completely ruined the tea. I mean the whole cup went gross. We know you can cook with ginger, do all kinds of things with it, make jam, candy it and stir fry it. How can you ruin ginger?! It was so bitter and tasted dirty. Maybe this batch had gotten mold on it. It certainly was not the fault of TeaFairy! How would she have known. The other reviews look good. But my batch, well, it went down the drain. Adios, bye bye.
My next step was to get my nightly square of dark chocolate and knock that evil taste right in the butt. Outta here…

Sorry this one didn’t pan out as well for you as it sounded.. It sure seems like there is a lot going on in that cup that would need to come together in harmony for it to be just right. And thanks for sending me some samples – can’t wait!

It’s been in my cupboard for about 9 months and I gave you what I had left… I think last time I had a cup was in January, I had no idea it could turn like that…guess that’s not what you had in mind when you asked me for «older teas» from DT’s to try, hahaha!

Zing Me was one of our favourite teas when we first became Disciples of DAVID, the zippy blend of apricot and peach the perfect fruit blend for me, who doesn’t like it too sweet, and my girlie, who is from the South. After all this time, I still love it. I am once again saddened that it is discontinued, and I know it will go back to its treasured place on the shelf because we can’t bring ourselves to drink it down.
i tried just a sample of this tea…not my zing…maybe it needs more zang. anywhoo did not taste my tastebuds…smells great…tastes , ick… :(
Did you try it in store? I’ve recently established that I brew everything way different than they do in store and that most store samples, of black tea at least, are very bitter. But, I really love Zing Me and just want everyone else to as well so they will bring it back : )
i hear ya . it was very potent…i may have over brew’d it. do you take anything in it? how long do you steep it for? what temp?
Yummy, that is about all I can say for this tea. I really have been impressed with Davids Tea so far! I do have to say that I am all about flavored teas at the moment soooo most of my reviews are about flavored teas, one of these days I will start to learn how to enjoy other teas!
The tea smells like apricots and a bit of ginger before the steeping. After the steeping I can smell the tea a bit but it smells much more like apricots than anything.
The first taste of this tea tastes just as it smells, lots of apricot deliciousness with some nice juiciness at the end. It is pretty smooth and ends with just a bit of ginger at the end. I find that my tea is a bit astringent but I think that next time I lessen the brew time. This is really good and I am going to get more before they run out! Even though I really really don’t need anymore tea but this is awesome!
Zing Me Tea is my “feel-better” tea from the David’s Tea line. Bits of ginger, peach and apricot blend together creating a complexly flavoured cup. The soft ginger spice brings a warmth to the lusciously soft yet deep notes of apricot and peach. The delicate flavours are perfectly balanced, and no one flavour note overpowers the other.
I find that steep time for this tea is critical. If steeped for too long, the ginger’s spice and the black tea’s astringency overpower the softer fruity notes. Likewise, when under-steeped, the flavours do not have enough time to develop and the flavour seems a little hollow. Just a hair over 4 minutes is all this tea needs to develop properly.
Wow. I am really loving this one and am very dissapointed that it has been discontinued now that I have found it. The ginger flavour is wonderful and not to overpowering. It will also be a must to enjoy hot not iced though. But I have lots I can do iced so no big deal. The ginger would be great when I am having some tummy upsets so I guess I need to save some for future use.
Not ranking it as a protest that they have discontinued it. (lol)
I love love love this tea. I’m really sad that DT will be discontinuing this tea, so I’ve stocked up, and will continue to until they run out.
The ginger-y flavour is great in the morning, and I often find myself making a hot cup for the morning commute. The peach and apricot play down the ginger flavour, making it a bit sweeter and milder (I don’t like a really strong ginger flavour).
I really hope that DT can bring it back at some point. I’d hate to see it go! :(

Yeah, I was about to say, holy crap that tea was discontinued ages ago! We bought one of the Nordic teapots last night, the purple one. I couldn’t resist, it matches my kitchen!
I got some online awhile ago and I think you may still be able to get it there. I think that is the cutest teapot. Almost bought it as a shower gift for my cousin who is purple crazy.
I’m buying the LIME NORDIC today after work!! hahaha! and I will grab a tin of this tea and a small pouch for you Jenn (and no worries about a swap, I am sure at some point you will rave about a tea that will make me scream "gimme, gimme, GIMME! ….. Phuwease?)
I wish you could mix and match the cups because I would love just one cup of each colour… sigh oh well…
The Nordic teaware is so cute…I have a moratorium on teaware though, as I have even less room for that than I do for tea! Luckily, I prefer clear teaware, so I can usually resist the urge.
I want the mugs too, but we need more teacups.mugs like we need holes in our heads. We came home with 6 big mugs from our vacation and had to crowbar them into an already too-full cupboard >.<
Although now I’m wondering, if we contacted Davids and let them know we both wanted one from each set, would they be willing to split them up for us? Hmm.
Haha. We have had to take mugs and glasses out of our cupboard and store them on top because we are too out of room. I tend to get gifted mugs fairly frequently, which is great, except 2 people can’t really use 38 mugs and 24 glasses. I am only slightly exaggerating those numbers, too!

Jenn I am just waiting for your addy to mail you some tea. People must’ve been panicked about this tea because they opened their last bag yesterday (at the store here) and when I got in she just have enough for 150g! Yikes! You’d think that kind of demand would make DAVIDs change their mind?!
