Thanks to whatshesaid for a bit of this tea, which I previously missed out on! I was curious to see how it stacked up to Della Terra’s Lemon/Lime Chiffon. As it turns out? Not that well. It’s lemony, but the cream I was hoping for was only present in the aroma, not the flavour. It tastes a bit off a well, which is probably an age thing (or possibly, a rind thing, as I sometimes have an aversion to citrus rind). I’m not finding that it’s tart, as most other people did, just that it’s kind of bitter.

Anyhow, can’t say I’m sad that this one’s been discontinued. Even at its freshest I highly doubt it would have bested the Della Terra versions.

I agree, it used to be my all time favourite so I was hoarding it, but it sure doesn’t compare to DTT’s offerings at all :( no doubt age plays a factor but I still don’t think it would have held a candle.

Lemon win! Here is another I have liberated from the back of my cupboard and taken to work for a bit. This is a sweet lemon, there isn’t much by way of rind or sourness here which I appreciate. I see chunks of peel in the tin and I am impressed that they aren’t contributing to a pinch-faced sour brew, instead I get a sweet lightly lemony flavour with an authentic cream element. I’ve only had lemon meringue rather than cream pie, but this stuff is good!

Now this is good. A true, lemony dessert tea. Have you ever had lemon bars? The gooey kind? This is a liquid version. It’s like I can even taste the powdered sugar that’s sprinkled on top! The lemon is strong, in your face, and that perfect balance of sweet/sour. There’s a pastry/vanilla/crumbly taste underneath the lemon…divine!! And for those people who aren’t fans of rooibos: well, I can’t find it at all in the taste. Maybe, if I try hard, there’s a green rooibos in the background. But that’s with me really trying to find it.

Disclaimer: if you have a low sour/tart tolerance, you’ll probably want to avoid this one. Or not brew it for 10 minutes like I did. My tart threshold is higher than the average, and this is definitely higher on the tart scale. Which I really like.

ETA: A second steep at 15 minutes is nearly identical to the first!

My regular nightcap. Now that I’ve shaken up the packet a bit, I get more of the petal-ly bits which seem to put the ‘cream’ in this brew, and that mellows the tartness. Much more balanaced.

I agree with another reviewer: it’s hard to tell there’s rooibos in Lemon Cream Pie. It’s a cheerful tea, provided you like lemon. It’s also mondo refreshing if you don’t finish you tea before falling asleep and wake up later parched and drink it cold.

Upping the rating.

This had a creamy, sweet, buttery fragrance. Overlying the more subtle notes was a strong, zesty lemon.

Once prepared, the fragrance lost some definition and just the lemon remained. This was true of the flavor as well. The lemon in this was not only strong, but it tended towards tart. It was like drinking hot lemon juice.

This would be perfect with some honey for soothing a cough or taking the edge off a cold so I might keep some of this around just for medicinal purposes.

Finally got my grubby paws on some of this.
I had to order it online cause apparently it’s sold out in stores.
I ordered 100g because I figure if I end up liking it, I might not be able to buy more so I thought that’d be a good decision.

Anyway. I’ve steeped several mugs now and each time I’ve been quite underwhelmed. Maybe I don’t know how long to steep it for. Maybe I don’t put enough sweetener. I don’t know what it is. It’s good but not awesome. I have plenty of other rooiboses I prefer to this.

Lemony but has an interesting candy taste. It’s a bit weak. I suspect I’m not putting in enough tea leaves.

A lemony treat with a very faint flavor. Doesn’t keep me longing for more, but I’m not devastated that I have so much of it left either.

Just OK.

I felt the same about this one. I got a sample in an order, actually, and saved it for a long time as it looked and smelled so mindlblowing I was sure I was going to love it. It was good, but very underwhelming.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with these sentiments. I plan to try it with milk. Sounds bizarre, but who knows…it might just work!

I got this tea from Whatshesaid quite some time back. A long overdue thanks is in order! I know I tried a cup before, but neglected to log it. It smells slightly lemony when dry, a little stronger when brewed with an added… wet cement smell?! It tastes a bit sandy at first, then the lemon hits me. No cream so far. Sweetening it makes all the difference, wow! Now I get lemon which turns into dried lemon peel with a little cream on the end and the lemon peel again in the aftertaste. So much better with sugar! Overall it is okay. It makes me think of a weak version of Della Terra’s Lemon Chiffon and I’d much rather drink the Chiffon than this one. It was nice to try tho!

You probably know, if you’ve had it, that this tea has been discontinued. WHY DO I STILL HAVE SOME LEFT!? Well, because I can’t bring myself to finish it. The day I went to refill my can was the day I found out. Luckily, my helpful store employee directed me to Tealish’s website and told me to try the Lemon Meringue Pie they had, which I keep meaning to do, but never have the funds.

Anyway, I love this tea. I blasted through it pretty quickly, and it’s one of the few citrus teas I’ve REALLY, REALLY enjoyed. It really does have that lemon meringue pie filling taste – I’ve never had a lemon CREAM pie, so I can’t compare to that. Sorry. I’d love if it were a bit “creamier”, though. It’s sweet like the pie filling, or sweet lemon curd, but it doesn’t have another level for the “cream” part of its own.

That being said, I don’t think it loses anything to that fact; it’d be amazing if it had that multidimensional flavour, but in doing just one thing, it does it well. I would call this the lemon equivalent to David’s Tea’s Dreamsicle tea. Absolutely lovely – and I’ve never even tried it iced. I would, but, you know… Limited supply. :(

Growing up, I’ve never found lemon meringue pie to be appealing besides its smell. The aroma of the tea was more than marvelous, and I would’ve eaten the leaves any day (provided that, if it was a norm thing to do!). Looking at the bright color of the leaves and lemon, one can observe that DavidsTea uses fresh lemons. By doing so, after steeping the tea, the first few sips bombarded me with nothing but sour stingy lemon juice, which I hate. However, I added some “Agave Nectar” and it glorified the taste by a lot. The fragrant of the steeped tea wasn’t as obvious but you can definitely taste a little zesty hint! If you aren’t a rooibos lover, I’ll tell you that the taste is so subtle, so give it a shot! Drinking this tea as I’m writing this review, I am off to bed now after this delicious treat!

I was super-excited yesterday to discover that my local DavidsTea had more Lemon Cream Pie in stock. It’s a tea from their fall collection, and I’d heard that they’d run out nearly a month ago. Apparently they got a new shipment relatively recently, and I leapt at the chance to get another 50 grams.

This tea is lemon and vanilla and rooibos: what could be bad? It smells and tastes like dessert, and unlike most of my other dessert-y teas, this one’s caffeine-free, so I can have it at night. (Admittedly, I’m having it today at 1:30 in the afternoon, but that’s completely besides the point.) This one’s stood the test of time, and I’ll be sad when the store runs out.
