1801 Tasting Notes

Sipdown 34 – 2024
This is the 2023 harvest.
It’s really missing something. It’s flat and kind of tastes like sticks or erasers. Comparing this to the GABA I just had from Taiwan Tea Crafts makes this even more sad. That was much tastier (and slightly cheaper).

I would absolutely repurchase this. So tasty and very forgiving/easy to steep.

This is so tasty. Lots of dried fruit, raisins. A touch of starchiness- like taro. Also some spices- cinnamon, clove. It’s reminding me of a mince pie or plum pudding. I did find this was quite mild unless I used quite a lot of dry leaf and brewed at 205degrees.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Clove, Dried Fruit, Plum, Raisins, Taro Root

I quite enjoyed this and will probably repurchase at some point.

This bag is pretty old and has been open for some time, so I was anticipating the quality of the tea to have been drastically impacted, but it’s surprisingly unaffected. It’s rainy here in LA (again), so the toastiness is particularly cozy.

This wasn’t a favorite OB from Taiwan Tea Crafts. It was missing the honey qualities that I love in an OB. Not bad though, just a lot of fruitiness.

I really have to get some more of this! Baked brown sugar bread. So tasty.

Just a really great green oolong. So fresh tasting- like green beans, peas, and clarified butter.

Flavors: Garden Peas, Green Beans, Peas

Oh no. So fishy. Verging on ripe puerh, definitely not a flavor I’ve ever experienced with a black tea before.

Didn’t care for the smell, quite artichokey and savory. Taste was something else though! Ended up dumping the first steep as recommended. But, subsequent steeps were marshmallowy- like a distinct marshmallow flavor. It’s slightly floral, but mostly quite sweet. A really interesting, unique flavor.
