Pineapple curry tea? Seriously? Okay, had to try it. Smallest amount I could get was 50g, which actually costs less than drinking it in store. Smells strongly of pineapple and tastes sweetly, lightly of it as well… light as a feather, not light as in lightly sweetened. I get the curry, but it’s oh-so-faint, and only popped when the tea was hot and with sweetener. Nice, glad I tried it, but time to share with others.

Wow, this sounds interesting yet oddly delicious at the same time.

Sil

Strange but interesting!

gmathis

I can see how the two would fit together, I think…

I’ve had pineapple curry in Thai dishes, so I was kinda (?) hoping for that. Not the same at all, would be fun to try to make rice with it though.

VariaTEA

This is certainly a unique sounding tea.

Given this in a French café during my breakdown yesterday. (I’m fine, now). Simple, straightforward mint tea, got a bit bitter at the end because I let it steep too long.

Wow. This is just wow. Creamy and light, yet with thick, strong flavors like spiced orange and vanilla, along with a hint of something almond and rose? Neither of those last two are usually things I appreciate in tea. Except, I’m learning, in French tea. Holy wow.

Sil

YES! The french do almond and rose about the only way i can tolerate it haha

Love your final sentence… Holy wow. :)

Great smelling tea! Light, creamy gingerbread is what I get from the bag, but then drinking it, it’s more of a sweet cotton candy with a hint of gingerbread (and definitely gingerbread, not just ginger) at the end of the sip. Needed some sweetener to make the flavors pop. Really, really tasty. Gent I’ve started dating also loved it, asked if I had more. Sadly, nope…

Flavors: Bread, Cotton Candy, Ginger

Preparation
Boiling 2 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

Fun tea! Only grabbed two bags from the Twining store in London, so I had to make this count. Light, with some apple, it’s more caramel than anything, but even that is subtle. Nuanced for a bagged tea.

Flavors: Caramel, Creamy, Dry Grass, Drying

drank Ondine by L'Herbier de France

Loving the herbal options here in France, which have surprised me at every turn, in every health food store (what’s called “Bio” here, or organic). I had no idea what any of the ingredients were in English, but the fact that it’s also called “Minceur” (thinner) made me think of Stephen King, and had to get it.

Odd flavor combination here that’s hard to describe. I smell a hay-like Thai curry in the leaves, with the flavor more medicinal than anything. It’s not bad or anything, it’s just… very medicinal.

Having a bit of translation issues with one item on this ingredient list (tilleul is lime, aubier is normally wood or trees, depending… but together they translate to linden leaves/sapwood, whereas I think they mean lime leaves. Anyone willing to help welcome.. I’ve asked a French friend for help with this).

Flavors: Creamy, Medicinal

Preparation
Boiling 5 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

Usually when I see “tilleul” in tea, it’s a linden leaf tea.

MissB

Thank you!

OMGsrsly

Ahh, the flavour makes more sense with linden leaf rather than lime leaf. :)

drank Chocolate by Harrods

I had high hopes for this tea, being only able to buy it in a three-pack online or in person as a box to itself. I mean c’mon, it’s Harrods! Sadly however, this is only an okay tea. I smell chocolate, but I get little of it in the sip except maybe at the very end. I get more of a burnt chocolate, almost barley-like flavor to it than anything else. Sent a bunch to Sil, so perhaps she’ll figure out a better way to make it right.

This tastes and smells like fresh hay. I just hope it gets me to sleep!

drank Sérénade by L'Herbier de France

Having a hard time describing this tea. Left it to steep 20 minutes, and it’s mostly clove coming through with the savory at the midpoint. No ginger other than a sweet bite. Very unusual flavor combination. I like it, yet I want to try it steeped less.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Clove, Herbs, Spicy, Thyme

Oh my goodness, yes! A plain cacao tea in France. I’m in heaven! Just cacao shells, so of course it’s amazing. Very happy I grabbed this.

Bio

A few years ago, the obsession with tea started. The cupboard got bigger and bigger, more swaps occurred, group buys, secret rendezvous with local teapassionistas… and that’s how you end up with 500+ different kinds of tea in your home. At one time.

Almost all of the tea was given away, sold, or otherwise shared. A few relics still remain. I now travel full time with only two carryon bags to my name. One quarter of those bags are tea.

It’s still a challenge to avoid the chipmunk-like hoarding of The Teas, yet, the lightness of being from having so little compels me more.

If I have enough, I’m happy to share. If I’m in your area, I’d love to swap, meet for tea, and explore together.

As for the day-to-day stuff, I’m focused almost entirely on Love, (yes, with a capital L), Spirit/Self, transformation, travel and my writing and speaking work.

What kinds of teas do I normally like?

YES: flavored teas, fruity, dessert, chai, and spicy (REALLY spicy).

A FONDNESS FOR: all white teas, malty black teas, any herbal or medicinal teas, strange/weird teas you can only get in one place.

ALLERGIC TO: strawberries, lavender

DISLIKES: any added sugars, grains, lapsang souchong, and overly floral teas – I might enjoy a Jasmine Green every once in a while, but unless it’s a creamy floral tea (think roses in a chai, or the smoothness of a floral note in a French tea), I’ll likely pass. Earl Greys are a hit or miss with me; heavy on the cream or fruit notes and I might like it, heavy on the blergamot and I definitely won’t.
