Surprisingly tasty, like a fruity cherry with a hint of floral/woodsy notes. No idea where I grabbed this other than I did somewhere in France. Thought I could use a tea that helped me with the massive amounts of food I’ve ingested while in France, and thus… :)

Thought of omgsrsly while making and sipping this one – I think it may end up on her shelf! For whatever reason, I’m having an allergic reaction to this tea, so I’ve stopped drinking it. Found it in a cute health food store in the heart of Grenoble, France, with about 10 other infusions La Vie Claire makes themselves (Infusion Après Repas, Infusion du Soir, Infusion Apaisante, Infusion Joli Tent, etc.) Quite fascinating really, that a tea company would choose to only create organic tisanes and nothing else.

Regardless, this was inexpensive, and made me think of a roast beef au jus with all the rosemary in it. Had no idea there were rosehips at all. Smells amazing.

This smells and tastes like caramel, even though it’s an orange cinnamon spiced tea. Surprisingly delicious, with hints of orange coming through at the end. Creamy, dessert-like. Interestingly, the box suggests having it with a piece of spice cake and a scoop of caramel ice cream.

Had this last night and wish I had more to drink… sadly it only came in a specialty box, and I think I either grabbed the only one, or sent the other bag to Sil. Very unusual ginger tea, with something lightly and pleasantly floral in it, and then the lemongrass and cinnamon were lovely additions. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for more of this!

Found this next to a black kiwi flavored tea in an Asian grocery store, middle of nowhere, France. They had lots of loose leaf teas as well to try, but this one spoke to me for whatever reason. Came in a tin, then in plastic, and filled to the brim with loose black tea. Looks like a mix of Chinese blacks.

The base is quite beautiful. It’s rich and aromatic, like a soft nut, with a touch of something floral and then a tropical sweetness to it. The flavor is like a green pineapple, which is interesting to me considering I’ve only ever had it once, and it’s used only for medicinal purposes (where it’s even eaten at all). There’s a flowery note as well, plus way back there something chocolatey and rich.

It’s quite an unusual tea; think lychee or green pineapple and it’s pretty darn close. Not sure if I’ll drink the 50g of it, but it was inexpensive and easily shared.

Grabbed this… in Ireland?… at a health food shop, in a box of 20 tea flavors. Really fruity, would be an excellent iced tea, mostly raspberry (and genuinely so) with the tartness from the rosehips and hibiscus. Normally I’d avoid a tea with these two ingredients in it, but the raspberries.. it’s like drinking a tart raspberry juice. Yum!

Hm. Did I have this one yesterday instead of Christmas Caddy Tea? Sigh. This is very familiar. More fruity though, like a Christmas cake, with a strong vanilla in it. Slightly creamy, slightly astringent… is it the tea kettle? I don’t get it. Everything is drying and astrigent. I need to try something else.

Had to add the French name to this tea, otherwise I’d never find it and we’d get duplicates. Tried it both hot and cold, and I much preferred it hot. Like an almond marzipan, if you’re into that sort of thing? Not really my cup of tea.

Left boiled water to cool for an hour and then used it to steep this tea. Yes, the teapot was still hot to the touch, so I thought it about right.

I’m a bit shocked by the other reviews of this tea. I grabbed a tin of it (smallest I could get), had a cup, and passed along the rest to Sil for sharing. Perhaps it’s a different blend every year? Dunno. Regardless, this is amazing hot, but cooled it’s extremely drying and astringent, a bit surprisingly so. Hot however… oh wowie. Spiced like a plum or orange with cloves in it, rich and full bodied, it’s quite lovely. Not as creamy as the Twinings Christmas Caddy Tea though, so I think that one’s my favorite at this point.

Wasn’t terribly sure about this one, so I only grabbed one bag for myself at the Twinings store in London. (How I wish every tea company offered the same!) Sadly, this means I don’t have an ingredient list, although there are no strawberries in it… this I checked.

Regardless. Wasn’t a fan at all of this hot. The dragon fruit flavor was surprisingly strong, and while I don’t mind it, I prefer raspberries. Cold however, this tisane sung, and I could have easily had a liter of it. Tart yet sweet, very authentically raspberry with the dragon fruit only coming in a bit at the end. I could see making this iced all summer, if I had easy access to this tea.

Bio

A few years ago, the obsession with tea started. The cupboard got bigger and bigger, more swaps occurred, group buys, secret rendezvous with local teapassionistas… and that’s how you end up with 500+ different kinds of tea in your home. At one time.

Almost all of the tea was given away, sold, or otherwise shared. A few relics still remain. I now travel full time with only two carryon bags to my name. One quarter of those bags are tea.

It’s still a challenge to avoid the chipmunk-like hoarding of The Teas, yet, the lightness of being from having so little compels me more.

If I have enough, I’m happy to share. If I’m in your area, I’d love to swap, meet for tea, and explore together.

As for the day-to-day stuff, I’m focused almost entirely on Love, (yes, with a capital L), Spirit/Self, transformation, travel and my writing and speaking work.

What kinds of teas do I normally like?

YES: flavored teas, fruity, dessert, chai, and spicy (REALLY spicy).

A FONDNESS FOR: all white teas, malty black teas, any herbal or medicinal teas, strange/weird teas you can only get in one place.

ALLERGIC TO: strawberries, lavender

DISLIKES: any added sugars, grains, lapsang souchong, and overly floral teas – I might enjoy a Jasmine Green every once in a while, but unless it’s a creamy floral tea (think roses in a chai, or the smoothness of a floral note in a French tea), I’ll likely pass. Earl Greys are a hit or miss with me; heavy on the cream or fruit notes and I might like it, heavy on the blergamot and I definitely won’t.
