1501 Tasting Notes
Billed as a grenadine, raspberry, coconut blend… I’m getting little of any. The rooibos base is actually decent, but I’m just not loving the tea. I’m not getting any of the flavorings, even close to how I perceive them. Sure, a decent tea, but not one as advertised.
Preparation
Sent the tin to Sil, so I’ll have to get her to add the ingredients. A surprisingly creamy tea, with notes of cloved oranges, vanilla and something sweet I can’t quite place. Maybe this is the one that has mulled wine added to it? Regardless, it’s delicious!
Flavors: Cloves, Orange, Red Wine, Vanilla
Preparation
A rich, thick vanilla tea, almost Chai like, but not quite… Almost like a spiced vanilla pudding . It’s more of a full bodied vanilla then anything. Preferred it as it cooled over when it was piping hot. Some astringency in the base.
Flavors: Astringent, Custard, Thick, Vanilla
Preparation
Found a Winter Collection box of Kusmi tea and had to grab it! This was the only herbal in there, and it was surprisingly delicious. Also, it put me to sleep on Christmas Eve, which is exactly what I needed!
Flavors: Licorice, Mint, Smooth
Preparation
Hm. Not my favorite herbal tea, although I may have over sweetened it. The bitter orange peel is quite prominent, and perhaps just not to my liking. I want to say it’s like a dry orange juice that less sweet than any orange juice you’ve ever had. Yet there’s a sweetness to it… So hard to explain.
Flavors: Drying, Orange Zest, Tart
Preparation
Grabbed a 100g bag of this from Harrods in London just because of the smell. It made me think of Victoria, BC in the spring when the city is pink with cherry blossoms. This tea smells like that: fresh, sweet cherry, and a touch floral. Drinking it isn’t as amazing sadly… There’s a sight bitter and dry aspect to the tea that tells me the base green isn’t great. I knew I shouldn’t go for a green, but the smell… Oh God the smell!
As I don’t have a variable kettle while traveling, I used boiling water cooled 17 minutes, and steeped for two minutes. Had to add a touch of sweetener to make the cherry flavor pop even a little bit.
Also, no ingredients listed, but was told in store (and they triple checked) that it’s only a cherry flavor used.
Flavors: Bitter, Cherry, Cherry Blossom, Drying, Hay
Preparation
Bought in the UK but enjoying in France, I’d say this is my favorite green tea of all time. It’s light yet creamy, fluffy and caramely, I actually get the rhubarb in there as a slight tang, and even I want to say a baked crumble feel. It’s divine, more so with a touch of sweetener to bring out the flavours.
Flavors: Caramel, Creamy, Rhubarb
Preparation
Oh yes. Oh very yes. For those who loved a certain cacao tea that was more Mexican hot chocolate than cacao, this is your new replacement. It is mine! A mix between a Chai and cacao, with vanilla and barley thrown in… Delicious.
Theoretically, it sounds tasty…but theoretical teas are kind of disappointing, huh?
