Gingerbread Indulgence Green Tea

These Twinings “Indulgence” green teas are actually really good. This one is very heavy on the ginger (I love the spice!), some caramelized sugar and icing sugar flavour, but no gingerbread or cookie flavour. The base is buttery and very pleasant, although not overpowering at all. I wouldn’t call it gingerbread without the cookie flavour, but I love how spicy the ginger is.

Well, I’m 2/2 for the Twinings teas from Scheherazade!

I was surprised how much I liked this one given my typical aversion to both ginger and green tea, but this was light on the actual ginger flavour and instead had really nice, rich molasses, brown sugar and cookie notes with a ginger flavour lightly peppered in, just like I find actual gingerbread to taste like. Even the green tea was pretty light overall. So basically, this was just good, solid authentic gingerbread tea. Now, it is summer so it’s not the right season but it was still really damn delicious.

…And I thought I wasn’t a fan of Twinings. Do I need to reevaluate a little bit?

Liquid gingerbread man! I’m actually quite surprised by how enjoyable these Twinings “Indulgence” blends are. I’m not usually a fan of their bagged green tea, but it seems sweet and buttery here, and the flavouring is impeccable. This isn’t the spiciest gingerbread tea I’ve ever tried, but it does have a very prominent biscuit-like flavour, with the ginger second and a touch of vanilla in the background. Pretty delicious, for a fuss-free cup!

Ohhhhhhh my goodness, this smells amazing. I have a failed (the dough was weird so it never cooked through yet it burned on the outside) gingerbread loaf sitting on the counter, and I can say that this smells very similar. Molasses, some spice, sweet baked goodness. It also smells a little like genmaicha. Green/seaweed and toasted rice. Yep.

Actually, that’s not bad at all! There’s some warmth from the spices. It’s a bit too “green tea” for my preference, but it’s really not bad.

If only the flavour was available as a black tea. :)

Wow, this actually tastes like gingerbread! Not overly gingery (the same as I find gingerbread) and instead, nicely spiced and bready. I wasn’t really expecting to like this, honestly, but it was a nice surprise! I just kind of wish the base was something other than green (maybe oolong?!) – not that it affected the flavour, I just have a bias against flavoured greens because they’re finicky. Thanks for sharing this, MissB!

I am actually really impressed because this is 100% gingerbread for me. I was worried it would be just a ginger tea but this is like a liquid cookie and it is delicious. Thank you MissB for the share! This is one I might actually seek out while in London because it is really nice.

Very flavourful. I can taste the bread-y texture of the gingerbread in the top note. There’s a roasted cookie note. I don’t feel that green tea is the best pairing for this flavour.

Bought a box of it, although a touch unsure of why I did now… it’s really good, it’s just not as amazing as some of the other blends from this line. Hm. I did see Salted Caramel at the store…

In good news though, I’ve yet to really ruin this tea, even with boiling water and oversteeps. It’s just… more cotton candy than gingerbread to me.
