Twelve Days of Tea 2021 – Day One

I was sipping on this during my exam today (yay, for online courses and exams at home). This is, hands down, one of the better “eggnog” teas I’ve had in a long time (RIP Butiki). I don’t really love eggnog on its own, and am still feeling rocky (eggnog is not generally what you want to smell when nauseous), so love that coconut comes out slightly more. It’s so incredibly smooth and decadent, without being cloying or hiding the base. It’s a real winner and improved my day exponentially.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Coconut, Creamy, Eggnog, Malt, Nutmeg, Smooth, Sweet

Preparation
205 °F / 96 °C 3 min, 30 sec

I feel your pain with the online exams at home. Glad to hear this tea brightened your day!

Thank you :)

Hope you are feeling much much better. And surviving this online experience are well as can be expected.

In this scenario I’m grateful it’s online and open textbook. I got to write my exam in my PJ’s, with refillable tea, wrapped in blankets. My fever and neck/joint pain mostly subsided literally 20 minutes before the start time and it was nice not trying to get ready and commute with that extra hurdle. Small fortunes :P

Some exams were good that they were online, some would be better at place. Depends mostly on the teacher, IMO.

EmmaM

Talk about timing! That’s wonderful. I hope the rest of them go well too. Hopefully, you are on the mend now.

Evol Ving Ness

Small fortunes indeed.

Evol Ving Ness

Glad it worked out.

The teacher and subject matter definitely makes a huge difference in the overall success! The lab portion kind of sucked because we missed out on “hands on”/kinesthetic learning; looking at grainy pictures of different rocks & minerals online and trying to ID them by clicking on random tabs is as exciting as it sounds :P

Bio

I started my Steepster loose leaf adventure back in 2012. I can’t say I’m completely new anymore, but I still view oolong as a magical, extraterrestrial creature that unfurls in water.

My favourites are teas like Milk Oolong, Silver Needle, and Japanese Sencha/Gyokuro, or fruity and floral flavoured ones. However, I generally enjoy ALL the teas, including a good old cup of Earl Grey or Breakfast blend.

FAVOURITE INGREDIENTS/NOTES:

DESSERT FLAVOURS
Vanilla, Maple, Caramel, Butterscotch, Cream, Toffee, Nougat, Marzipan, Butter

FRUIT & BERRIES
Citrus Fruits, Passionfruit, Banana, Pineapple, Melons, Blackberry, Raspberry, Currants, Elderberry, Persimmon, Rhubarb..

SPICES
Ginger, Turmeric, Clove-forward chai, Cardamom

AROMATIC & HERBACEOUS NOTES
Sandalwood, Frankincense, Juniper, Eucalyptus, Mints

FLORALS
Lavender, Jasmine, Rose, Lilac, Violet, etc.

VEGGIE/GRAIN NOTES
Spinach, Grass, Hay, Cucumber, Rice, Sweet Potato

Less Preferred Flavours/Ingredients:
Stevia, Apple, Cocoa Nib, Almond, Licorice, Cinnamon-forward blends, Chinese Sencha

Subjective Rating System:
I don’t give a lot of low ratings out, since a) I tend to grab tea I know will appeal to me, and b) I don’t have a lot of strong dislikes.

90-100: Favourites. The Desert Island Teas.
80-89: Loved teas. Possibly staple-worthy.
70-79: Good teas, but I’m less likely to repurchase. Minor quibbles.
60-69: Ok teas. Likely a few preference and/or quality issues.
50-59: Cup of meh. Will do in a pinch.
11-49: Varying levels of undrinkable tea.
1-10: Nightmare tea from the chaos realms. This tea is the embodiment of the primordial swamp, an unholy abomination. It’s very gross and I’m almost positive it doesn’t exist.
