652 Tasting Notes
Received a hefty sample of this from Dexter… normally I am not a chai person, I rarely crave it. But I was interested in trying this, because I know I love the base tea.
I ended up really impressed, I think this is actually the first chai I would buy! (Except a few fandom blends from Adagio which I surprisingly ended up enjoying)
The natural chocolate notes in the tea really work well with the natural spices used. It just struck me as really fresh and tasty, and pure tasting, if that makes any sense. Nothing fake about this one!
Thank you for sharing, Dexter.
One I never would have ordered, but ended up truly enjoying!
This is the second tea I brought to work today to drink on my birthday.
It’s so good. I can barely even describe it. Every sip is just YUMMMM. Even inhaling the dry leaves. How can something natural be so flavourful on its own!?
Every sip is juicy, malty, amazing. So good. SOOOOOO good.
I wonder if i would get sick of this if I drank it 3 times a day? Doubtful. I will absolutely have to buy more. It may actually be my most favourite tea of all time.
FLAVOUR COUNTRY – POPULATION: ME
This is my special tea to drink at work. I still love it.
Today’s my birthday, which I don’t even care about anymore. I’m getting up there, you guys. haha.
But anyway, this is one of two of my favourite black teas I plan to drink at work today. Likely tonight will be filled with fussier temperature sensitive teas that require more than the unreliable work kitchen kettle :)
Vanilla, silky smooth, really good. Makes me feel warm and happy.
Another Bayswater sample from the lovely OMGSRSLY
I was looking forward to trying this based on the delicious name and the delicious smell. I made a cup last night when I got home late after a hair appointment.
I was so tired, I just wanted to relax, it seemed a good night for a caffeine free tea.
Unfortunatelyyyyyy I think I can officially add Honeybush to my list of herbal “teas” I loathe, along with Rooibos.
This wasn’t as haylike or woodsy as rooibos is to me, however all I was getting from this repeatedly with every sip was some weird hay note and pepper. PEPPER so much PEPPER. I almost dumped it, the only thing stopping me was that I didn’t feel like making another cup of tea and I really wanted something to drink with the rest of my cookie.
Thanks so much for sending this along, OMGSRSLY, it had so much promise but I’m sad to say it’s not for me!
I won’t rate it because that seems unfair, like rating an egg salad sandwich poorly because I hate eggs. (Not true, and I love egg salad sammiches, just using that as an example)
Hmmm, sad. It does sound like it should be really delicious though. I do like honeybush, so maybe I’d like this.
Received a sample of this from OMGSRSLY, was super pumped because it’s been on my wishlist for awhile!
Made some just now, packaging some tea up while the baby naps.
It’s really as good as all the reviews state! Dessert in a cup but doesn’t have any weird fake flavour notes that I notice. I would definitely buy some sometime if the opportunity ever came up.
Thanks for sharing, OMGSRSLY!!
I just emailed her last week asking about shipping to AB and she said that 750g or so costs like $11, so maybe to Ontario it would be more like $16? Still seems like it’ll be such a huge hassle to order.
Yeah, if it’s already that much to AB, I feel really sorry for the East Coasters. She doesn’t do shipping deals either. :(
LOL. Just get me to buy it and walk it over to the post office. Sil just sent me a massive box for $15, and I swear it was 2kg or so.
I just wanted to note this for myself – “I had this”.
I don’t remember it whatsoever. But I found the empty sample bag, and vaguely recall making it at some point a number of weeks/months ago.
I need to try it again sometime :)
So, to summarize – I guess I had this before.
That is all.
Uhhhhhhhhhh…crap.
The first time I had this I wasn’t loving it, something about the flavour combo struck me as odd.
BUT, I’ve since had it again and resteeped, and reached the conclusion that I LOVE it. I should add that it makes sense for me to love it, because I’m a huge marmalade freak. My husband makes fun of me because whenever we go out for breakfast I steal marmalade packets, haha. He says that’s one of my ‘old lady traits’. As if no one under the age of 60 likes marmalade!? PFFT.
I don’t eat much toast at home, otherwise I’d likely have a fridge full of different marmalade brands.
Anyway, the flavour combo is just perfect. Nutty and sweet from the toffee and orangey but not in a fake or overwhelming way.
HELLO OUT THERE! IF YOU HAVE THIS AND HATE IT, SWAP WITH ME! :)
I don’t have much left :(
Another sample from Nattie!
I admit I didn’t notice the apple until I read the description. Obviously the name doesn’t suggest apple at all.
I noticed a mild toffee with some mild smoke and a milk black base. I had added 10% cream.
I did enjoy it, I was happy it wasn’t super smoky because the idea of smoky teas still terrifies me. There’s a whole world of lapsang out there that I’m afraid to touch with a ten foot pole.
Ultimately I wouldn’t buy this, but it made for a good mid morning “snack”!
Thanks Nattie :)
