I tried this as a hot tea and I really wanted to like this tea because who doesn’t like birthday cake?!? People who shouldn’t be trusted that’s who lol
*UPDATE: I recently discovered iced tea lattes and decided to try this one. I LOVE IT that way!! I even added a tiny bit of agave. I can taste the cake flavor in it. Yum.

This tea has been a staple in my cupboard. Not that I drink it most often, but its one of those very reliable flavors that will taste good when you don’t know what you feel like having. It really lives up to its name, it tastes like vanilla cupcake, but mixed with sweet rooibos tea. Its much better than just vanilla rooibos tea, but I can’t pinpoint exactly where that extra flavor comes from. I know some people call it caramel or maple, but I don’t really pick up on either of those, it almost seems more like a sweetened whipped cream (although I guess that makes sense given the ‘ice cream chips’ added in). This is a great treat/dessert tea when you’ve deprived yourself of dessert or if you just want to feel like its your birthday again!

I got a cup of this hot earlier today and made sure I took some notes :P I kept putting off getting this one because birthday cake flavored things are usually gross but so many people said that it was really good so I caved.

Sure enough I was right and I really didn’t like it, on the upside I don’t have it stashed away in my collection though. It was too sweet for me (and I didn’t add anything to it) – it definitely had the baked goods flavor to it, possibly a bit of caramel almost creme brulee (heck this one tastes more like creme brulee than their creme brulee does!) I think it might be good as a latte but that’s generally not my thing. But in the end, at least I’ve tried it!

Smells much better than it tastes. The tea is very sweet with a vanilla flavor, but the rooibos is still a bit strong. Glad I only got a small amount of this to try.

Nice and sweet. Mixes well into a latte too.
Second steep is still pretty good, wouldn’t try a third.
You can steep this forever.

This is a happy vanilla-scented red rooibos dry leaf with pastel sprinkles.

I don’t drink this tea often, but when I crave it, there is nothing quite like it. From time to time, I order it in store well-leafed and well-steeped as a latte when I am in need of some cheering up.

When I am at home, I drink it black and unsweetened. It is sweet enough. The flavours are simple: vanilla icing sweet and creamy with a bit of rooibos substance as backup. The perfect cure for a sweet tooth or when the need arises for a bit of comfort.

You know, all these people on my feed drinking Birthday Cake really make me wish I had some in my cupboard. It sounds like the perfect thing to cure a sweet tooth.

I have resteeped and am drinking the second batch now. Still sweet. And I am having an amaretto cookie.

Put it on your next order list. I like having it handy. It is much different from caramel or maple rooibos teas. Sweet but in a different way.

Ugh, so jealous of those of you who can happily drink rooibos! This tea was delicious for me otherwise, though.

Evol Ving Ness

Keychange, you can’t drink rooibos?

I received this tea and a timolino as a gift for my birthday. I may be a little biased in saying that the best gifts in life are tea.

Heh, joking aside, this tea is intensely maple with a mild aftertaste of birthday cake flavour. I think the sweetness of the rooibos and the maple flavour complement each other nicely— even as they make the car smell like maple, causing everyone to turn their heads and talk about your tea.

While I don’t think I’d go back to purchase this tea, it was enjoyable while it lasted.

I love this as a latte for a treat :)

Never thought of using it as a latte! Sounds like it would be really tasty with some foamed milk.

I really love it :)

Meh. That’s all I really have to say about this tea. I don’t really like the caramely maple taste that comes out of it, but it’s good for a nice sweet cup on your birthday.

I really liked this tea, since it made me feel really festive during and after drinking it. Due to the sprinkles, there’s a sweet aftertaste, but it’s not overwhelming. Not to mention the aroma was great :). It’s in in the top chart of rooibos teas I’ve tried, but, it is not my favourite.
