From DAVIDsTEA

It’s bright. It’s flamboyant. It’s totally over the top. Oh, and it’s incredibly good for you. If you haven’t gotten to know the dragon fruit yet, it’s time you gave this crazy-looking cactus a try. Though it looks a little bizarre, the flavour is actually quite mild – somewhere between a kiwi, a melon and a pear. And it’s so packed with good stuff, it’s being hailed as the next big super fruit. Taste it for yourself in this super tangy tropical blend. With apple, rosehip, hibiscus and blackberry leaves, it’s a great introduction to a fruit you definitely want to know.

Ingredients: Apple, rosehips, hibiscus, sweet blackberry leaves, dragonfruit, cornflower petals, natural dragon fruit flavouring.

Its good but not worth the huff. The make a big deal about it at the store “The Only one with Dragonfruit” when really its nothing special. Similar to a lot of their Herbals.

It smelled really good in the tin at the store so I decided to try it. I did not like it hot or iced…too bitter and there’s a taste that didn’t agree with me…maybe the magic dragon fruit in it? Not my cup of tea.

Ooof. A little too potent. Need to tone it down next time. Really good flavor, though. Just too much tangy aftertaste.

For some reason I really like dragonfruit in tea. Seriously, its good stuff. So when this was passed over to me from VariaTea by way of Sil, I was excited! Thank you both! I was a little apprehensive at taking the entire pouch, especially since I’d been quite disinterested in herbals for the last year or so (but a tad bit more open to it lately).
Anyhow, I tried it and didn’t hate it! That bubblegummy fruit punch taste I’ve come to associate with dragonfruit is definitely there, and makes the brew highly enjoyable for me. Noms! The floral hint is a nice background addition too.

Another iced tea to try out :)

I steeped 5 perfect spoonfuls (about 12 tsp) of this tea in 2L of boiled water for about 7min and let the tea cool overnight in the fridge. Overall the result is a nice, light, fruity tea without a hint of tartness. Next time I’m going to use 6 spoonfuls (I was being overly cautious of the hibiscus) and do a longer steeping time. I can taste more apple than hibiscus so I’m not worried about tartness :).

This tea is fantastic. I enjoy it iced and have bringing it to work we me, every day this week. It’s sweet on its own, but I do like to add a little bit of vanilla agave to it, to enhance the sweet, fruit flavors. Who knew that dragonfruit would make for a great flavor for tea?

I like this herbal blend. I drink it hot or lukewarm without adding any sugar. It is already sweet enough. For me, the main flavours are pineapple-like, apple, and a bit of tartness, either the rose hip or hibiscus comes through.

I’ve steeped this a few times since purchasing it last summer. I do add a few drops of stevia to this because 1.) I like my iced tea sweetened and 2.) because steeping 2x the tea leaves/blend for iced tea seems to amp up the tart hibiscus. Next time I might try steeping this on the lower end of the suggested steep time to see how the taste differs. Overall, I think this tea is a very pleasant combination of tart and sweet, and it makes killer iced tea.

Mmm, I tried this as a sample in-store today, and it was divine! It has a wonderfully sweet, fruity taste without being sugary. My friend actually had to ask if there was any sweetener added. It’s nice and refreshing, and our sales rep said it’s one of her favourites as an iced tea. I’ll definitely be picking some up for summer!
