Everything nice
Some teas are great conversation starters. All you have to do is steep a cup and before you know it, people are asking “what is that wonderful smell?”, “did someone just bake a cake?” and of course, “can I have some?” This comforting black tea blend is no exception. With the warm aromas of cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, it smells and tastes like a spice cake fresh out of the oven. But consider yourself warned: you might want a little bit extra to share around…
Ingredients: Black tea, apples, cinnamon cassia, cloves, carrots, marigold petals, natural vanilla flavouring.

I thought I had reviewed this, but I guess not.
At first sniff: Smells of spices and cherry or that sweet yoghurt smell. I also smell almonds. It’s pleasant with a little sour at the end.
At first steep: Smells the same, sweet and sour kind of. I had mine today as a latte with whole milk and stevia and was very creamy and pleasing. I did enjoy this when I was sick but didn’t get the full benefit of it because my taste buds were off. This one benefits with over-leafing (as do moves DT teas) and also benefits from a bit of a longer steep. In general though, for a blind buy, I would say I am pleasantly surprised.
I like this one more than I thought I would. It does taste like spice cake and gingerbread, both things I love. I bought 30 grams initially, then repurchased 100g (took 50g to work, left 50g at home) and then….just bought another 100 g tin…..it has been my recent “go- to” tea, when I want a pleasant tasting caffeinated black tea. I sometimes do tea swaps at work – I also bought our dietician and ward clerk 25 grams of this each to try ( one liked it, one didnt ).
I made up a liter in the breville, so will be sipping it through the morning….with a bit of rock sugar and frothed milk – yum, spice cake!
It seems so cold out! I feel worn out from the work week, and not very motivated to tackle the very long list of weekend chores. Hopefully, this tea perks me up!!
Dry: Pretty black tea with what appears to be flower petals, orange peels, and whole cloves. Smells spicy and winter-like. I’m surprised this was a Fall tea instead of being released later in the year!
Steeped: Mostly clear medium brown liquor. I read after I brewed it that it can withstand seven minutes, but I only did four minutes and thirty seconds and I only had the one sample to work with. It smells very strongly of cloves fresh from the teapot and is reminded me more of a spicy chai brew than of cake.
Taste: I first tasted this with nothing added and all I was getting was orange and cloves while hot. I’m pretty sure I’ve had something very similar from the grocery store bagged teas and my husband wouldn’t even try it. I added sugar and 2% milk and it is much more enjoyable. Getting more of the other flavors like cinnamon and perhaps a hint of carrot? I am not getting any vanilla or apple at all. I wish I had enough to try it with sweetened condensed milk or something with more vanilla power, but I’m glad I was able to sample this tea because I would have been tempted to buy a 50g bag otherwise from the name alone. Alas, I don’t think this will be a purchase for me this year, but Pumpkin Chai sure will be!
1.5 tsp for 300mL water @ 95C, steeped four minutes 30 seconds.
Hmm. I see on the package it recommends 4 to 7 minutes — odd, for a black tea. I’ll try the longer steep next time.
I got a sample of this, iced, in a DavidsTea store about an hour ago and loved it. My hot cup here at home is good, too: a better balance of tea and spices than usual from DavidsTea. I like the slight winey-note from the cloves. I adore cloves. And I can taste tea in this blend, too — some Ceylon, maybe. Not an everyday tea for me, as I prefer straight teas, but a winner for a flavoured tea.
Steeped this on the stove with half water and half milk, following the guidelines for the Pumpkin Chai latte, minus the whipped cream, and I had it all in one mud.
It’s delicious and warming, but it makes me think it is in the wrong seasonal collection. I can so see this in the winter collection. I’d say the clove stands out the most, with the cinnamon and orange behind. I think it is stronger/bolder than Glitter and Gold.
Yeah, as soon as I saw the whole cloves, I wondered what this was doing in the fall collection.
As soon as I saw the NAME I wondered what this was doing in the Fall collection. It screams Christmas. Though I guess the advantage is that I get to try it now rather than later.
Dry Leaf Nose: Similar to a spice cake. Sweet with notes of spice.
Liquor: Golden/orange-brown.
Flavour: Very similar to a piece of spice cake (minus the frosting). The sugary sweetness and sweet spices notes are prominent, well balanced and linger without being cloying.
Free sample w/purchase. I had a craving for some bold sweet tea. I kinda suffer from winter allergies and last night was unbearable. My taste buds suffer, I keep sneezing like crazy. This tea didn’t deliver. Not bad, just avg. I even added 2 tsp of maple syrup. Usually I add nothing to my tea. No rating.
Edit: as it cooled I like it more. Flavors become more pronounced
Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves
D*MN this is good. It’s just so smooth, so spicy, so DRINKABLE.
I bought a 100 gram tin of this today after having worked my way through a couple less than 50g bags. I then realized I should have bought the collectors tin. I think I’ll be just fine to go back and pick one up tomorrow. I am going to want to have this one around for a while.
Don’t be afraid to steep it for 7 minutes! you won’t regret it!
Steeped this one and couldn’t finish before having to leave somewhere, so I tossed it in my mom’s coffee travel mug and away we went. (Hopefully, I’ll get a timolino someday. But until then, this works!)
Reminds me a lot of Gingerbread, but less spice. Lots of carrot flavour was coming through as well. I was never the biggest fan of carrot cake, and this reminds me a lot of it. It was quite delicious though!
I found this flavour at a different location and the woman there told me that was all they had and that this flavour is discontinued – so I bought 50g instead of my usual 25g sampler. I’m glad I did.
Yup, I loved this one as well. You should try it with the cinnamon cream honey!

I’ve heard that this is quite similar to Glitter & Gold. I’ve not tried the latter but I did enjoy this one and have been contemplating getting it on sale but I don’t think I’d get through the whole 250g on my own…
I don’t find it similar to glitter and gold at all. I find glitter and gold is more like a cinnamon heart and this one is more like spiced apple or cherry. Both are good. It’s not a bad black tea, makes a decent latte, so I would recommend it at the price for the sale amount. I know 250g is a lot, but I usually give it away to people as samples etc.
