I saw hibiscus in the ingredient list, but went ahead and picked up 10g of this anyway, just to try.

I’m happy to say the tea does not steep a deep pink-red colour that normally happens with hibiscus and it smells very passionfruit-y. The scent is reminding me of something fond I had when I was little, but I can’t quite put my finger on what that is.

Initial sips are all passionfruit. Yum! And YAY, no hibiscus overwhelming flavour! There is a very subtle tartness that I’m enjoying. Overall, this tea is really well done.

I can imagine this would be good cold too, but usually even when teas are good cold, I still prefer them hot haha.

Update: The second steep of this has slightly less flavour, but still lovely.

1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml

Hibiscus is not overpowering. Slight melon-y flavour. Reminds me bubblegum candy flavour but is not artificial tasting. Zingy sugary sweetness note coming through.
This tisane seems like one that would be great as a cold brew.

I need to pick some of this up. I’m trying to find herbal teas that my boyfriend’s mom might like!

The toddler is preoccupied by Zaboomafoo on netflix and the newborn is in the throes of a milk-coma… quick, write a tea review!!

I’ve been meaning to try the teapop recipe that DAVIDsTEA posted on facebook, but it requires a certain amount of planning on my part. It also requires a key ingredient—sparkling water—which isn’t usually on my grocery list and thus I kept forgetting to buy it in order to make the teapop actually pop! Well, today I managed to have all the ingredients assembled and made myself a glass of Pink Passionfruit TeaPop which was… quite delicious actually. Although I do get a mild headache from the potent passionfruit smell, it was still quite refreshing and fruity as a teapop.

Now to experiment with other flavours as well! I’m thinking Bamboozled, Honeydew Mate, Luscious Watermelon (what little I have left), Goji Pop, Big Apple, and Coconut Grove…

Oh that sounds like a good one to try! I tried strawberry rhubarb and that was nice, but I guess I just don’t like the taste of the sparkling water. More experiments needed.

Enjoy your tea break!

Uniquity

I have had Berry Good as a teapop in store and it was really good. Glad you got to DIY it!

Faith

Both Luscious Watermelon and Bamboozled are excellent teapops as well! My only problem… it requires so much tea to make each batch of teapop that I’m running out!

Lynxiebrat

Squirt Soda might be a good substitute if you have that. It’s almost the only soda I drink and it tastes great with MIO flavors.

Faith

Lynxiebrat: Oooo, will have to look into that!

I made the world’s hardest deal with myself. No tea reviews until I had found a job for next year, given that I didn’t need the distraction while I was supposed to be working on applications. A month later and I am back!!

I have so much tea to catch up on!! I am finishing my last real batch of this tea until we move and unpack. As always, it is amazing. I love the blackberry leaves along with the sweet passion fruit notes.

I had really hoped this tea might reappear this year, but that does not seem to be in the cards. For now, I will continue to hoard the bit of this I have left and hope that one day it might reappear.
Dexter

I’m assuming that this means you found a job for next year. Congrats. Now you can relax and enjoy some tea. Welcome back!!

I got a sample of this from my first swap with JustJames – thank you for sending this my!

This is pretty darn tasty cold brewed. I don’t have very much experience with passion fruit – I have no idea what it actually tastes like, but this tisane is delicious. I am going to have get some more.

The dry leaf scent is very sweet, but when cold brewed there is a slight sweetness – enough that I don’t feel the need to add sugar. There is also a light tartness to this blend, but not over powering. Just a hint of tartness.

I’ll have to try this one as a cocktail sometime.

LOL! Tea BLAH is over! WOOT! I got this as a sample along with my order from David’s Tea.

At least with this tea. I’m tempted to go back to DT’s site and buy 500 gr of this, and trust me…that is highly unusual for me. I say that much because it seems this is a seasonal tea, and we are nearing the end of the season….unfortunately, I’ve put myself on a Tea buying hiatus due to all the things I need to save up for (Am semi planning to take advantage of Black Friday sales, and maybe 1 reasonable buy from DT…do they do Black Friday sales?? If they do that will assuage my guilt at least a little bit.) Anyways…had this hot despite the fact that it’s been a wee bit hot out, and it’s pretty tasty hot, but as it cooled down….I knew that it would be dynamite iced. From what I just read of the reviews, that assessment would seem to be right.
I am going to try a 2nd steep, iced down….eh. not bad 2nd steep but not terribly inspiring.

Kittenna

Last year DT did not have any Black Friday sales.

TeaLady441

Woohoo!
And yeah – DT doesn’t really do anything for sales. :| THey had some things on sale for Boxing Week, but that was just CHristmas related tea. I was in store a few days ago and I noticed they had signs for a summer sale – 40% off? I’m guessing that’ll be for some of the summer teas/tea ware.

For me, I am mostly getting passion fruit and apple notes with a bit of tartness. I think the flavour profile is pretty light though so I might steep it for longer next time….but that might make the hibiscus a little more tart, I am not sure.
Overall, it is good chilled.

It’s been awhile hasn’t it. May and June have been how you say “busy” with travelling for vacation in Edmonton. Although it was only ten days, scheduling the trip in the middle of the month makes it seem a whole lot longer. Wouldn’t you agree? While staying at the West Edmonton Mall I arrived just on the release date of the Summer Collection so the next few posts are going to reflect that. Hope you’re ready. :)

I have never tried passion fruit before so when I found out that David’s Tea was coming out with one for the summer I was very curious suffice to say of what it was going to taste like. At a first glance the soft rose hue of the elixir was enough to give a hint of what to expect but wow. It was sweet and light like one of those tropical flower petals.

The passion fruit gave it a very refreshing edge and made each sip a joy to the palate. It wasn’t too sweet and it wasn’t too tart. On the whole it was very cooling to drink both on the vacation and when we had that heat wave a week back. I can say for certain that cold or hot you’ll enjoy all the subtle nuances of this tisane. Cheers!

Fjellrev

What did you do while you were there, if you don’t mind my asking? I’m from there so I can’t imagine doing much other than shop and visit Muttart Conservatory haha

Cassie Eng

I don’t mind. :) Besides the mall which has a great amusement park, sea lion show, concert stage and wave pool I went to the Muttart Conservatory. As well as the TELUS World of Science to see their Body Works exhibit.

Other than those attractions I went to see Iron Man 3, Hangover 3 and Star Trek into Darkness at the theatre. I’m not really a big shopper unless it is books or tea so films were my thing overall. Right up there with the chance to take a lot of pictures at the conservatory. I always love nature photography when I can get the chance. :)

Plunkybug

Body Works is cool, and shows what happens to your lungs when you smoke. Never saw so many black lungs! :P

Cassie Eng

The text books don’t compare to seeing the displays up close that I can agree with. It was all very interactive which I liked a lot. :)

Fjellrev

Great call on Telus World of Science! I’m glad to hear you checked out Muttart too. That’s the great part about WEM if you’re not a shopper. There are other things to do there. I’m happy you packed all of that into your vacation!

I cold-steeped this overnight, and drank most of it on the bus ride to work. The tartness in it reminds of pink grapefruit, and I get bits of that in the taste, as well as apple flavours. I guess I haven’t actually had passionfruit before so maybe if I had I’d identify this tea better.

It’s slightly tart, but manageable due to the cold-steep, although I’m sure a touch of agave would make it pop. Tasty, but not essential!

I kind of like this….I used 3+ teaspoons in my steeper for about 5 mins ( the time doesn’t really matter with herbals?) then flash froze it over a big cup of ice…..maybe too much ice, I think I might of liked it a bit stronger….

Without sweetener it is tarty, but I like that…..I would re-buy this. Wonder if it is out of stock? It’s good, no strange after taste. Much better than DT’s pink lemonade….I will try a little stronger and with sweetener next time…..

OMGsrsly

I really like this one. In fact, I got a tin! A little honey or sugar is tasty in it. I usually use 1.5-2 tbsp, 1.5 cups water, and half a large ice cube tray. It makes between 750ml and 1L. :)
