drank Rum Raisin by Lupicia
226 tasting notes

Finally got around to doing my yearly order of Lupicia, (Though might be able to make one this summer, I hope!) this order was pretty small, sadly. Mostly reordering some favorites like Cookie, Sakurambo, Rhubarb &Strawberry, and 2 new teas…this one and Sakurambo Vert, plus an asked for sample of Cassis & Blueberry.

I am not sure why I picked this tea to try out, I’ve never tried rum in my life (As I dislike most alcohol. ) Though come to think of it, did really enjoy Caramel &Rum rooibos from Lupicia.
Overall this tea is an ok cup, but I am not wowed about it. Thinking of letting it cool down and drinking more then, like others have mentioned. I can see why some have called this a dessert tea.

Flavors: Raisins very faintly, and I guess the rum. Seems to be a hint of something else that I can’t identify, but tastes familiar.

drank Rosé Royal by Lupicia

This came as this months sample…appropriate considering Valentine’s day.

I can count on 1 hand the number of times I’ve drunk wine, the times I’ve had it, didn’t like any of it. I do however, enjoy many teas that have a wine like flavor, though have tended to get tired of them somewhat quick. This tea, while I’ve enjoyed the cup, I highly doubt I would be inclined to buy more…I mean having more samples around would be terrific, but sadly Lupicia isn’t interested in selling their samples.

Tastes: Strawberry, hint of grape, and a brief aftertaste of wine.

Another tea that I got for Christmas…

It’s not bad, though contemplating saving it for iced tea in the summer.

low 70’s, maybe high 60’s.

drank Mango by Harney & Sons
226 tasting notes

OMG….I don’t even want to know how long it’s been since I’ve reviewed a tea…wouldn’t be surprised if it’s around this time last Winter.

I got this tea as a Christmas present from my uncle, a pleasant surprise, as I didn’t know he knew I was a tea drinker. I had also gotten White Christmas Tea, and Raspberry Black tea from Harney, as well as a nice teapot set in silverplate with a beautiful tray. I going to have to have myself a little tea party soon to break it in.

On to this tea:
Opening the tin, out comes a sharp, sweet mango-y scent that makes me almost impatient to get this brewed so I can drink it. While, as usuall…I am not sure I would want more of this after the tea is gone, I think at the very least I will enjoy this tin. Slightly astringent, but not at all unpleasant…my misgivings have more to do with the fact that I am not sure I would reach for this one very often. But I don’t know, the end of this tin could be that I have to buy another.

Meh, using my kindle fire to write this review, and I can’t adjust the rating, so will have to wait til I am on my laptop this evening…I’m thinking somewhere in the high 70’s. like 77.

drank Grapefruit Green by Lupicia
226 tasting notes

I was a bit apprehensive about this tea, when I saw it had grapefruit in it. Grapefruit is way to astringent for my tastes, so I avoid it. (Though I do like Squirt soda, which is flavored with grapefruit juice, so go figure.) so it took a long while to work up the courage to try this tea out.

Luckily, despite how strongly it smells, taste wise it is alot lighter. I put a touch to much sugar in the tea, but that’s quite common for me anyways.

I liked it well enough but I don’t think I’ll be buying more. I am trying a resteep, which I rarely do because usually if I want another cup it’s almost invariably a different tea, but I decided what the hell.

drank Golden Osmanthus by Lupicia

Finally got to do a Lupicia order! My 1st tea order in a year! Still being out of a job, I havn’t been able to buy tea much…(Plus my Mom thinks I have a ridiculous amount as it is, even with giving my cousin a couple of boxes chock full of tea. Though thinking I should probably do another culling soon.) But anyways, due to lack of room and not much money this will probably be my only order this year…Cries

I wasn’t planning on getting a happy bag, but I saw that Lupicia was listing what teas were in the bag (Kind of sad that I couldn’t get the $50 bag but oh well.) and that it included Cookie, and a few that I wanted to try, I decided to go ahead and get it, and add a few more to the list. This was a Happy Bag one.

It’s quiet and unassuming, I am sort of enjoying drinking this tea but I can’t say that I am particularly inspired by it. In fact another steepster mentioned that it was just above ‘Meh’ and I think that sums it up perfectly. Debating whether or not to give it up to my cousin, but I think I will. Hopefully she will enjoy it more then me.

drank Imperial Label by Kusmi Tea
226 tasting notes

Sadly, none of the teas that I’ve tried from Kusmi are teas that I’d want to get again, (Though this one, oddly enough, comes close. Oddly because there are not many green teas that I really like.) Or maybe it’s just as well considering the way out of my budget prices they have on their products. I wouldn’t be disappointed with this as a gift, however.

drank Spiced Pumpkin by DAVIDsTEA

I can take or leave this tea. It doesn’t taste bad or anything, just not terribly inspiring. I taste a bare hint of pumpkin, not sure if I would like it more if it did have more pumpkin taste…..

drank Ripe Mango Oolong by Lupicia
226 tasting notes

Got this a while ago in my Lupicia newsletter.

Open the bag, smell a nice Mango-ish smell. I love mango juice, but not crazy about actually alot of mango, just a few pieces here and there. Amyways, post brew it still smells like Mango, but it’s fairly muted. Actually the smell and taste reminds me alot of Lychee. I mostly like it. Jury is kind of out whether or not I would actually buy this. I mean at best it would be a good alternative to when I want a fruity Oolong but tired of the Pineapple (Or when I want hoard it!) Though if it comes to crunch time (When I’ve got to reduce my order.) It would probably come off the list. Since I haven’t been able to buy from Lupicia since last February, when I am able to order, it will be mainly to restock though hopefully I’ll be able to a few more try-outs. This tea reminds me a lot of this mango gummy candy that I get from a Japanese grocery store in Novi (One World Market. Sadly can only get there every few months at best.) It’s one of my favorite candies, I usually get the mixed fruit bag (The Strawberry flavor is a bit to sweet and I like the Lychee. ) Oh and another thing, like with the Pineapple Oolong, I didn’t get a tropical flavor that others have gotten…if it had some coconut then maybe (Mmm that sounds like a delicious tea!)

drank Caramel & Rum by Lupicia
226 tasting notes

Got this in a recent Lupicia newsletter…

I’m so glad (Mostly) that Summer is finally on it’s way out. I mean we’ll probably have a few more really nice days and might get bit of an Indian summer, but overall cool enough to have tea most days…YAY!!!

Sadly this summer I wasn’t really in the mood for tea with a few exceptions, so in addition to the beastly hot temps, that made me really irritable.

This tea was picked at random after dinner, though considering I am trying to avoid much caffeine in the evenings, just as well. I like this tea, like I’ve liked most Rooibos teas…but the jury is out on whether or not I’d actually buy this tea, namely in my next order, (Which sadly probably won’t be till January/February.) I’m thinking I really should do an inventory on my teas before I buy anymore anyways.

I taste the Caramel/Butterscotch in it…though I wish it were more butterscotchy. I also taste a hint of rum, which I’ve never drank, one of these days I will. I was kind of hoping this would taste like Werther’s Originals…that was my favorite candy when I was little. But since I have the really bad habit of chewing hard candies, I avoid them like the plague, but a tea that tastes just like Werther’s? OMG, I would adore that!

Flavors: Butterscotch, Caramel, Rum

Bio

Currently 46 years old…

Been a tea lover for most of my life, though it’s only in the past? (5-8 years.) That I’ve been drinking loose leaf tea.

I like mostly blended teas in Black, White, and some Oolong. Sadly not much Green tea that I really like. And of course Herbal.

Rating Guide that I use, though I am not terribly consistent;)

100 Excellent
90-99 Very Good
70-89 Fair
50-69 The only teas that I am interested in in this rating are teas that I can buy locally, such as at a grocery store, fruit market, tea shop, etc. Or is fairly cheap/add on thru a website.
50 and Below No redeeming qualities whatsoever or is too much like a tea that I already have.

Some teas such as Constant Comment by Bigelow I still drink on occasion, it is one of my comfort teas from when I was growing up. Others are Perfect Peach, Mint Medley and Cozy Chamomile.

I am a bookworm, though I also enjoy art journaling/mixed media, making jewelry, spending waaaaaay to much time online…particularly bingeing various tv shows on Netflix and Hulu. Also various forums like this one (On and off.) Quora, Goodreads, Youtube and misc. others. If you see the nicknames Lynxiebrat/Lynxiegrl,Lynxiedove, Zaaron or Sarikcat, then drop me a message:)
