From DAVIDsTEA

Pie in the sky

When it comes to dreaming up new teas, sometimes inspiration just randomly strikes. It usually happens in the middle of a really great dessert. So you can probably imagine how this decadent flavour came to be. We’ll give you a hint: it involved a chocolate banana cream pie. We tried out dozens of blends before we found the perfect one – a rich, chocolatey black tea blend with pieces of ripe banana and creamy white chocolate. It tastes like a dream come true.

Ingredients: Black tea, cocoa nibs, banana pieces, white chocolate, cocoa powder.

Price: $7.00 per 50g

Last tea of the day, just finished it this very second.

After drinking red velvet cake and not being able to finish the cup, I wasn’t sure what to expect here.

It’s funny, because I literally went through 3 stages when drinking this…..(grieving process?? Hah)

1: first sip – the shock stage – OMG! gah! This is so bitter and sour and weird! How did I previously enjoy this?!

2: middle sips – the confusion stage – What’s happening in my mouth? Ok…maybe it’s not so bitter after all….. Definitely a bit sour. There’s the chocolate, there’s the banana…ok……but I think I can safely get rid of this one? I think?

3: the last of the cup – the acceptance stage – I get it. This is what I asked for, a dessert tea that doesn’t taste like chemical sweetener! I can add my own if I want! Maybe this is a keeper after all…especially since it was discontinued.

So that’s where I ended it.

First sips were shockingly bitter and almost sour, astringent for sure.
But I’ve come to accept that it’s not a bad cup. Next time perhaps a bit of maple syrup or coconut sugar. Maybe some milk! I like that it’s organic.

Ok, DT, we are 1:1 tonight.

I’d previously rated this 88 but I’ve had better teas now, so I’m lowering my rating, so there.

Forgettable. I wasn’t sure at first if I was drinking this or the Cookie Dough I’d also brought with me to work, so…yeah. I drank the whole travel mug and couldn’t really tell you anything about the taste of it, so there you go.

Chocolate, Banana, what more could I ask for? I love love love this tea! It isn’t super sweet, so I added a teaspoon of raw honey to mine. The banana is strong, but doesn’t overpower the chocolate. This may be my new favorite!

One kind of good thing after taking a bit of a tea break, is when you look in your cupboards ( and drawers and shelves and….)…. You have a lot of nice tea you kind of forgot about! Like living in a mini tea shoppe…..

Anyway, 3 tsps in 500 mls in the breville….a few rock sugars and frothed light cream…..yummy! It does taste like banana and cream and a bit of milk chocolate – very nice!! I need some energy to get to the gym…..I really just want to stay home and read and play with Lily cat and drink tea……hit the Boxing Day sales early and got some great BoGo deals at lush…..the lady in front of me spent $350 – crazy!! I did not do anywhere near that kind of damage but still got some nice stuff…. This yummy desert tea is another very nice treat…..

This smells incredible. Steeped for 5 minutes per the instructions. I ended up adding a spoonful of sugar because it was tasteless otherwise. That really brought out the banana chocolate flavor. Yummy.

This is one of my favorites!!

I’m debating if it will stay with me when I send the box on. I really really like it!

It’s (tragically) discontinued

This one smells good dry but delicious steeped. Like banana ice cream (except warm).

This one’s alright, I may have steeped it too long because I’m getting a hint of bitterness (although I steeped for 4 mins and the package says 5-7 mins). I’ll finish the sample for sure but I don’t think I’ll pick this one up again.

I got this as a sample with my tea order from Davids teams n top of the fast delivery to the states I got 3 samples too cool. Any who, I could smell banana as soon as I opened the package…. And not being a banana fan I am surprised at how much I love this tea! I sweetened mine with Splenda even tho some say you don’t have to sweeten the sweeter teas but or me I love sweet and it tasted just like a milkshake, I drank mine warm but I think it would be awsome cold ! Def stocking up on this one!

Banana Dream Pie. What a mouth-watering, delicious name! It is indeed quite a yummy dessert tea. Ever since my worst tea-drinking experience with DAVIDsTEA’s Carrot Cake, I’ve been a bit apprehensive about trying other flavoured teas by DAVIDsTEA. Thank god, this tea is pretty reassuring. :) A very rich, chocolatey tea… and yes, I can smell and taste real banana. Kids and those with a sweet tooth will absolutely love it. I wonder if DAVIDsTea would consider adding some vanilla to the tea? That would probably make it even more amazing and pie-like!

So I’ve been thinking for awhile that I should make a run up to Davids Tea at Guildford because I accidentally left my pouch of Oh Canada behind when I went home for a week. :( Plus I’d heard about their Winter Collection and wanted to pick up something to try out! So in addition to this tea and 50g of Oh Canada, I picked up Organic Rootbeer Float and a tin of Second Flush Darjeeling since I really liked it!

This tea is quite cloudy when it’s steeping. It’s banana-y without being overpoweringly so. The chocolate isn’t super-bold, but that’s probably because of the white chocolate mellowing things out. I’d have to say I like it!
