Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait

Huh, I’ve received this one in several different samplers and swaps. Probably five different batches at this point. When I first tried it, I was obsessed. I picked it as one of my free samples every time I ordered. I remember loving the sweet strawberry flavor. The last few times I’ve had it, though, I sadly wasn’t as impressed. Lately, it’s seemed very tart and almost savory. It lacks creaminess or sweetness. With sugar, it tastes better, but still not great. I wish I could rate this based on my first experience, but sadly, it’s been just an okay cup lately.

I added a little to much sugar so my score will be a little lower- I’ll update it once I try it again. Even with this tea being sweetened too much I can still tell that I really like it. Its got some tartness which really hints towards the rhubarb, and the strawberry is very nice as well. It really does taste like a strawberry rhubarb pie, but since it’s a “parfait” I do taste the creaminess as well.
UPDATE- as the tea cooled the tartness really came through, the sweetness vanished and even more of a strawberry rhubarb taste popped out. I increased my rating from 70 to 82.

Really flavourful! I needed to add sugar, but only because it’s a bit tart. Beautiful colour and smells great.

I wasn’t sure how I’d like this, since rhubarb can be very hit or miss with me. The scent of this tea is amazing, basically whack-you-in-the-head strong. I think mine was a little heavy on the hibiscus, but that was acceptable since I was expecting tartness in the tea. I get the strawberry, and yes, I get the “parfait” as well, though I think it’s more yogurt than parfait. Still, I can often miss those notes, so I give them credit. I think this one is just what they advertise, but is a bit too tart for me.

It was a sample just big enough for a single cup. I tend to overleaf (overmix?) these chunky blends, and I didn’t have enough to do that with this. So it tastes a bit thin.

But otherwise, it’s quite tasty, and has more complexity and depth than a lot of other fruit blends including those from DAVID’s. The aroma is a single note of creamy strawberry, but the flavor is that, as well as something that tastes pastry-like. Parfait, I’m not so sure. I might have described it as crumble. Or even pie.

I’m not sure I know what rhubarb tastes like except in the context of baked goods. But I don’t find this overly tart, even with the rhubarb/hibiscus combo.

It is a pretty, dark red color (from the hibiscus and beetroot, is my guess).

I’d definitely drink it again.

Simply put, this is a wonderful tea! The strawberry and rhubarb flavors remind me of my childhood and the wonderful rhubarb treats my grandmother and great aunt would make throughout the summer. I do find that it is best iced.

I am drinking it now. I like the color. :) It’s a pretty strong strawberry. I don’t taste much rhubarb. Pretty straightforward in flavor and easy to drink.

This is delightfully tart and tastes just like strawberries. I do wish there was a version of this without milk ingredients though.

Can’t go wrong with a strawberry, rhubarb combo. Definitely a more creamy tea, but not overwhelmingly sweet once you taste the tart reply of strawberry.

My daughter came flying into the room to ask what smelled like ice cream. I had to share. :p
