From DAVIDsTEA

Panda-monium

Lately bamboo seems to be popping up everywhere, from the runways to the kitchen. No wonder – it’s sustainable and fast-growing. Plus pandas love it. But that’s not all. According to Ayurvedic belief, bamboo has cooling properties, and drinking a bamboo infusion can release heat from the body. What could be better on a hot summer day? Especially when it’s topped up with the juicy flavours of pineapple and peach. Add it all up and you’ve got a summer drink any panda would love.

Ingredients: Pineapple, bamboo leaves, peach, apple, peach crunchy, peony petals, rose buds, artificial flavouring*.

Price: $7.50 per 50g

Love, love, love this blend. It’s so tasty! It’s been cold steeped as part of my Teas of Day here at home and I went through a pot of it in a day. The peachy pineappley goodness of this chilly blend is just perfect for these days at work with a less than stellar AC unit. If there are better ways to stay hydrated, I don’t want to know!

I’m so glad I finally got to try some bamboo tea! Thanks Courtney :)

I’m only mostly sure I can pick out the bamboo note in this tea. There is lots of juicy peachy pineapple goodness on top, with a gentle floral undertone and a hint of something vegetal that must be the bamboo. This would be great iced I bet! I am curious to try more bamboo teas now.

Courtney

So yummy!

Kittenna

The bamboo is not as obvious in this one as it is in Blazing Strawberries, because the fruity pineapple/other flavours mask it a bit more.

Stephanie

Blazing strawberries must be discontinued :(

Kittenna

Oops, sorry, yeah it is :( I’m hoping it comes back someday though – it’s a great tea!

Sweet all the way through. Prominent pineapple flavour. Flavour reminds me of bubblegum. There is nothing particularly remarkable about the taste; simple flat pineapple.

this time i brewed this and actually drank it :)

this tea is delightful. basically it tastes like pineapple water, or like the pineapple coconut water i buy but minus the coconut? i don’t really taste any peach or appley notes, but maybe they’ll come out next cup. it’s light and breezy and not too sweet and not too sour. this will be a summer mid day tea i’m sure. one vote for yum!

this morning i had the iced version (leftovers from the previous night), and again i was reminded that i’m not really an iced tea person. i end up feeling like all the flavors go hollow and are missing that spring in their step. i will continue to try chilling my tea as the seasons change and check if i still feel the same. i’m sure eventually it will click.

(Swap sample from Linnaete)

This tea has a very mild tropical flavor from the pineapple. I couldn’t figure out what the other flavors were at the time, but the peach didn’t stand out. I don’t generally like tropical flavors (or peach teas).

I wouldn’t get this for myself, but I could drink it again. The flavors are all very well balanced and it has no icky aftertaste. It’s pretty neat with the bamboo in it too. I wish I could find some different bamboo teas that are more to my preference, but this was fun to drink.

I know Zentealife.com has a bamboo tea. I haven’t tried it yet.. I thought about it this morning but I had waited too long after my water boiled!

awesome, thanks! I’ll have to check it out. Too bad I just recently finished of the last of my current tea budget today, but I got a lot of fun teas coming in, so I’ll be happy for now (^^)

I went into the store to get some Coconut Grove for my Mom and of course I couldn’t resist the tea of the day. I got this iced to go. It was very watered down, so I don’t think I got the full effect. I got some sweet fruity taste which was vaguely pineapple, a floral not I could barely make out and something savory that I couldn’t identify. This might be worth having again, but steeped much stronger.

LOTS of changes around here lately:

1) WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! Simultaneously scary AND exciting at the same time. One the one hand we will be SO POOR because our savings have gone towards the down payment, lawyer fees, land titles, taxes, and then the mortgage twice a month. On the other hand we won’t be renting anymore! This makes me incredibly happy! If there’s a problem it’s up to us… and yeah we’ll have to foot the bill, BUT no more waiting on landlords who don’t do anything anyways and make us resort to solving the problems of mice infestation, exploding stoves, or unshoveled walkways ourselves.

2) The terrible twos are upon us. My precious, well-behaved 23-month-old has just this week decided that that was all an elaborate charade and that she just wants to scream and whine for whatever she wants now. Who is this child? Cuz she sure ain’t mine…

3) Baby boy is quite a busy little bee in there. I’m officially 23 weeks along and the little gaffer must be a break-dancer because I can feel him twirling and kicking like there’s no tomorrow.

4) My doctor also happens to be pregnant too, which is weird because she was also pregnant when I was pregnant with my first! This means that she’ll be going on maternity leave at the end of January and I’ll have to go to another doctor for the rest of my prenatal care. Sigh.

5) Which actually segues to this tea, I promise. I haven’t been the best preggers around… I don’t take my prenatal vitamins (I was taking them before I got pregnant, but then the nausea hit and I could barely keep water down, let alone hard-to-digest horse pills), I definitely don’t drink enough water, I was losing weight for a while and have just started gaining some of it back, etc. So, my Doctor was all, “I know you have trouble with the pills and keeping food down, but COULD YOU PLEASE DRINK MORE FLUIDS!” So, that’s where this tea comes in because I figured I might as well enjoy the fluids I drink, right? Thus I’ve been steeping + icing a bunch of my more summery teas in an attempt to motivate myself to get more fluids coursing through my system. This one hits the spot: fruity, light, flavourful, and delicious. Bottoms up, Dr. H!

So I have been in serious DAVIDs withdrawal since I left Kingston and moved home for the summer. It has been torturous watching as all of the new teas have come out and the reviews have been posted to steepster…
Therefore, when I found myself at FCP for work, I just could not resist visiting the FCP location. When the girl who was serving me heard of my plight, she said “you poor thing” and then proceeded to pull down every tea that I’ve missed for me to smell.
I decided to get this one iced to go, and was not disappointed. It was a super hot day and either the bamboo or ice did the trick. This tea is deliciously fruity and refreshing. Very pine-apply and peachy and a hint of some other fruit I can’t quite place (maybe the apple?). I think this one might make a good cold brewing experiment- I am rather sad that I didn’t buy any while I was there…

Bamboozled and Oh Canada (Happy Canada Day!) were the teas of the day today at Davids Tea. I had my iced tea mug with me, so I got my $1 refill and decided to try the new Bamboozled.

Bamboo tea, sounds interesting – smells delicious dry and steeped. Iced this is very light and definitely refreshing! The peach comes across the most to me, but I can definitely taste the pineapple in there – but it’s not tart.

I can see buying some of this for iced tea in the future. Glad for the $1 iced tea refills w/ the iced tea mug though – it’s a great way to try different teas!

Kittenna

Yum! I’m excited. Blazing Strawberries was pretty light, so I was expecting that of this one.
