From DAVIDsTEA

Strange but true

We’ve all heard stories about magic and romance happening under a banana tree. But did you know bananas don’t even grow on trees? They are actually the world’s largest herb. And we’ve got plenty more banana trivia where that came from. For example, we bet you didn’t know that banana and oolong tea are best friends. It’s true. The combination of green Oolong and ripe banana is the perfect balance of fresh and sweet. It’ll make you look at bananas in a totally new way. (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Organic: Oolong, banana, stevia leaf. With natural flavouring*.

Price: $11.00 per 50g

I rarely want a heavy tea in the morning, but I really need the caffeine to fight jet lag while still at work, so this oolong may end up becoming a staple! Absolutely delicious.

When you open the bag the scent of bananas instantly wafts up and smells absolutely lovely. Being that it’s an Oolong tea it brews nice and light. The banana adds just enough sweetness to cancel out any need for honey or sugar and isn’t at all overpowering. This tea is perfect for after a meal or to accompany a light afternoon snack.

I was super happy when I found out that DT was bringing out four new permanent Oolongs, I had to run out and try a few. I’m really big on banana lately and this tea is marvelous. I got a 26g bag just to check it out and I will definitely be going back for more. The banana is not as present in the steeped tea as I would like, but I’m still working out steep times and number of re-steeps. I love this one straight or a bit of agave, I find that the agave brings out the banana a little bit more.

I have to say, I was little skeptical about this at first, but it has wildly exceeded my expectations. When I first noticed it sitting on the shelf at DavidsTea I was very curious. In my head I was envisioning a sweet, artificial, and overpowering banana flavor. Still I decided to buy a sample.

When I finally tasted, I realized that it was just abou the complete opposite of what I had pictured. The banana flavor was surprisingly subtle and did overpower the oolong. In fact you may not even recognize it as banana if you didn’t already know. The two flavors are perfectly balanced.

This is so good. Such a satisfying beverage. I always add a little more (half a teaspoon or a full teaspoon extra) than it says because the earthy flavor comes out more and the banana is perfect. Very well balanced (I’m surprised these flavors work so well together).

And yes, it’s great as a latte.

Very creamy, vanilla tasting oolong with a right amount of banana flavor. Real pieces of banana is a nice touch. A friend who isn’t too knowledgeable about tea enjoyed it a lot. I actually wanted to pick up milk oolong from DM, had a craving for it, but since they were out tried this and wasn’t disappointed. I can see myself enjoying this tea quite a lot, it’s subtle enough but still packs a good punch.

I was so excited to finally try this long discontinued tea! Made a cup this evening, and it tastes pretty good. Very much an oolong. It reminds me of another fave from DT ‘Pineapple Oolong’. The banana in this tea is quite subtle, but it’s there. I think it would be different if I bought this tea when it was fresh. I’ve heard fruit can dry out quickly in some teas. Overall though, this wasn’t bad. I like it.

This doesn’t taste enough like banana too me, it’s more like artificial banana flavor than the real fruit one. Wouldn’t buy it again however it’s not unpleasant either. Probably wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for an intense banana taste though.

Very nice. It’s slightly “odd” tasting if you don’t sweeten it though, I use honey.

It has an odd odor in a way but I’ve got used to it now and I drink this a lot. Tbh I’d be fine with them dropping the organic and make it cheaper.
