As usual with delicate teas, I liked it more and more as it cooled off. Right now it’s nearly ice-cold and I love it, whereas a few hours ago when it was hot, I didn’t care for it. I need to just stop trying to drink them hot.

QuiltGuppy

I find the same. It’s interesting how some flavors seem to be uncovered by the cold. Good thing I have kids who keep me from drinking my tea while it’s hot. Otherwise, I’d never know that this alternate tea universe exists! I’m glad I’m not the only inhabitant.

Daddyselephant

My wife teases me endlessly for it, but it’s usually an hour or two after I make the tea that I actually start drinking it >.<.

QuiltGuppy

I don’t understand how people can drink a tea when it’s super hot right after brewing. We get the best of all worlds when we wait because we can sip it at various points while it’s warm and sit to enjoy it when it’s fully cooled and fully flavored. Does your wife drink tea, too? If so, then maybe you can convince her that it’s really better when you wait to drink it. ;)

My morning was really festive with this tea while listening to a Traditional Irish song.
Here’s the song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exDcam6hcv0
(I know it’s from Lord of the Rings, but I do love this soundtrack.)

For the tea? Well. Fruitcake in a mug? I wouldn’t say so.
I hate Fruitcake but i’m in love with this tea. :)

The nose [dried] : Full of orange with [candy] berries.
The nose [infused] : It smell like rocket candy.

The taste : First, there’s the orange tones which is really prominent.
Second, there’s lots of fruit tones. I can taste cranberry and berries.
The fruit here feel like artificial flavoring without being too much aggressive.
Finally? The sencha basis which conclude perfectly this unique and memorable blend!

Try it out and you’ll see what I mean :)

Off the topic of tea – I’m super pissed that that track isn’t included on my LOTR: FOTR soundtrack CD :’c

Drank the last of this one from my collection today. I really enjoyed it when I first got it but the more I drank, the less and less I liked it. I hate when that happens with a tea! This time it just kept tasting more and more artificial with each cup. :(

Erin

This happened to me with this tea too… haven’t touched it in awhile.

I tried this cold-brewed and now I get a little bit of Rocket candy taste. This is much sweeter brewed this way, good for an iced tea I guess! Yum
I should have got more when it was around I guess because I am almost out.

OK Kay, one exam to go, you can do it!

Today’s companion tea – the wonderfully playful Elf Help. With a little dash of honey, just because. For some reason, I find it to be a tad tart today, not sure what may have gone wrong. Perhaps I should buy some of the new batch. (I’m still finishing off the huge amount I bought last year, just in case…). Yep, I’ll definately do that, so I can ‘vote’ for a tea I love, and because it seems to be the underdog this year compared to Santa’s Secret and Oh Christmas Treat.

I have a feeling my post-exam DT celebrations will be a bit pricey this year…

Thanks Jessie!

Sipdown # 3! I am trying to clear out my Davids stuff for the new teas this wednesday. It is getting crazy up in here, I’m going to do like 20 bags over the next 3 days. I won’t have any small samples left at that point.

This one is just ok for me. I really liked it initially, but it gets too bitter too quickly. Merry Cranberry is definitely sweeter and better. Maybe it is the orange but it just tastes like bitter green tea to me.

This didn’t really work for me.

It was on my list to try for a while, and Courtney sent me a sample last week. It was too sweet for me, and I think the overwhelming ingredient list was just too much. It wasn’t horrible, I still drank one cup and re-steeped it, and put the rest in the fridge to try cold… but I am definitely glad I didn’t order 50g.

Thanks for sharing, Courtney!

Mmmm. I haven’t actually tried this one yet. First trial of the variable-temperature kettle we got for Christmas, and the lowest setting seems perfect for greens. Did a short steep, which gave me a nice light flavour, not too overwhelmingly sweet. Lots of orangey goodness with a bit of tartness from the cranberries. A little too sweet for this late at night, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one.

My last tasting note said very little on how I felt about the tea, but I have to say, today I’m in the same boat! I’m not sure if I’ve had this sample one year or two years, but either way, I’m not a huge fan. It’s definitely a strong green tea with a bit of fruitiness to it. I’m not getting a ton of fruitiness from it, but there is some there. I’m mostly getting the orange flavour, not much of anything else.

This one came in a sampler pack that my dad bought for me. I absolutely love that he buys me tea! It’s so awesome! Anyways, I don’t think I’d get this one again, but glad I got to try it all over again. I only have the smallest bit left so I shall count this as a SIPDOWN!

While I normally drink my green tea organic, super strong and bitter, and with no additives I’m not usually a fan of venturing off into the flavoured green teas… until now. I have tried this tea twice from the Davids Tea shop and I have to say the second time I had it was a million times better than the first time. Its a perfect balance between a fruity tea and a green tea so is perfect if you’re in the mood for somewhere inbetween the two.

On a side note: has anyone else noticed that tea is never as good in those paper to-go cups you get at cafes and tea places vs. brewed in a mug? The only downfall to grabbing a tea from Davids when I’m out.

Maxime-Daniel Friðrikson

It’s true that when you try a tea-to-go from DT it’s never as good as it’s supposed to be. That’s because they always use 98 degree water at DT when you take a tea-to-go. So, the leaves burn.

noordelijk

I honestly don’t know what temperature of water I use, but I’ve always been one to use water on a cooler side because I’m really sensitive to hot drinks and don’t want to wait as long for it to cool off haha.
But anyways, I hate the paper cups mostly because I can taste the paper/plastic. It’s not a nice home for tea. Period.
