Today was a Butiki sort of afternoon.
This was one of two (super old) sample sipdowns. I didn’t expect to like this, I admit.
First, I had no idea what guayusa would taste like…second, I’ve been having terrible luck with fruity teas lately, to the point where I talked myself into deciding I’m not a fan.
I brewed this up (as per Stacy’s directions) in my Contigo mug when I took the baby for a stroll (i do this frequently, my husband thinks I’m strange – “you’re bringing tea? Uh, nothing like hot tea to refresh you on a walk..”)
And then I threw a couple ice cubes in there because damn that thing keeps your tea boiling hot.
When I took my first sip I was surprised at how creamy it was. Creamy and apricotty (peachy, really, becauseI can’t tell the difference)….and not in a synthetic way.
I imagine the guayusa taste was in there too, but if didn’t notice much aside from a vague earthiness, nothing off putting.
I was pretty impressed with how tasty this was, especially given the age. I bet fresh it would be totally delicious.
Ok Butiki Tea, you sure showed me!
Go figure, though.
