Pass the Stash

There is something about this tea that I do not like..but I can’t put my finger on it.. It does taste much better with a touch of sweetener as it brings out the apricot flavor. Just not my cuppa.

This is my first guayusa and I’m liking what I see (taste)! Slightly grassy with a delicate apricot flavor. With a little added truvia, the apricot is more pronounced without being overwhelming. Quite yummy and fruity and fresh tasting. I really want to try this iced (I’ve been really into iced teas lately thanks to all of this Florida heat).
Thanks MissB for sending me a sample of this!

Today was a Butiki sort of afternoon.

This was one of two (super old) sample sipdowns. I didn’t expect to like this, I admit.

First, I had no idea what guayusa would taste like…second, I’ve been having terrible luck with fruity teas lately, to the point where I talked myself into deciding I’m not a fan.

I brewed this up (as per Stacy’s directions) in my Contigo mug when I took the baby for a stroll (i do this frequently, my husband thinks I’m strange – “you’re bringing tea? Uh, nothing like hot tea to refresh you on a walk..”)

And then I threw a couple ice cubes in there because damn that thing keeps your tea boiling hot.

When I took my first sip I was surprised at how creamy it was. Creamy and apricotty (peachy, really, becauseI can’t tell the difference)….and not in a synthetic way.

I imagine the guayusa taste was in there too, but if didn’t notice much aside from a vague earthiness, nothing off putting.

I was pretty impressed with how tasty this was, especially given the age. I bet fresh it would be totally delicious.

Ok Butiki Tea, you sure showed me!

Go figure, though.

Courtney

Butiki afternoons are awesome, and guayusa is also awesome.

ohfancythat

It doesn’t seem to have much taste, which I guess is good!

Stephanie

This is one I’ve not tried yet, but I’m totally in love with Butiki’s Guayusa blends!

I had a cup of this before and didn’t review it as I got caught up in things. I know I liked it at the time. This is my second and last cup from MissB’s sample. This tea brews up so dark and has an earthy flavour a bit like pu’erh but milder than pu-erh. I do taste the flavour that’s supposed to be apricot but I don’t know if it’s an apricot flavour to me. It’s very subtle. I am enjoying this cup of tea but not enough to want to buy it.

As the tea cools down I am tasting the apricot more. Definitely much better as it cools so I’m bumping up my rating.

MissB

Ah, glad you were able to knock one off the list. :)

My first experience with Guayusa. I love it. I love anything Apricot and this has such a nice, true to fruit flavor. I think I’m digging Guayusa over Yerba Mate..it has a less abrupt herbal note, is sweeter with little after taste. Thank you Stacey for sending me this sample I will definitely order it next time.
