The last of my teakruthi teas I haven’t reviewed, even though I had to throw out the four hibiscus blends with living bugs in them: https://steepster.com/teas/teakruthi/91972-summer-isle I can’t say that I’m not hesitant. sigh. This is supposed to be “chai” but only has cinnamon added. To me it seems like a cinnamon flavoring, because it’s certainly not a cinnamon I’m accustomed to. This is Ceylon cinnamon, of course, so maybe I never had Ceylon cinnamon. Anyhow, the base tea is extremely savory: notes of black pepper, basil, tomato and the savory cinnamon fits right in there. Not really what I was expecting, but it’s different.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for full mug // 16 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // 2 minutes after boiling // 4 minute steep

Yes, it was horrible. So many bugs thriving in pouches of tea… one that I had never opened until checking for bugs. It was like the one tea nightmare in all my years of drinking so many teas. (I know I have been lucky.) I guess that answered my question if some bugs could live in a pouch without air. :/ I HOPE they will stay aware of this problem and have fixed it for now, because otherwise teakruthi is awesome.
Bugs?! :X
I’ve never heard of Teakruthi but that certainly doesn’t make me want to look LOL.

Interesting flavour profile, and I’m glad this one didn’t have the bugs. :(
Insects are so prevalent in any form of food production. The fact that we aren’t seeing bugs in our teas more often makes me wonder how all the other companies are treating their teas to eliminate bugs.
