145 Tasting Notes
This was one of the first Dessert by Deb blends that I ever tried, and I ended up getting it again to re-try it, and I am wondering if I judged it too harshly the first time? This blend was also my first time trying something other than bagged tea, and it was my first introduction into the world of fancy, loose leaf tea too!
I believe I did not cook this properly the first time. The key is to make sure you steep this at a low temperature. When you do that, the tea tastes refreshing, toasty, earthy, and coconut. Grateful I got to re-try this blend!
I think it is a good genmaicha; however, for it to exude marshmallow crispy square, I think it needed actual marshmallows in here, lol!
Flavors: Coconut, Cream, Earth, Rice, Toast, Toasted Rice, Toasty
Drinking this tea makes me feel nauseous. I am not sure why. But something about it tastes artificially creamy? And the lemon note is subdued compared to the cream note. It tastes like I am drinking an unsweetened, creamy lemon candy. But something about the flavours is not working that well for me.
But this might be a personal preference as opposed to this being a bad tea.I am still glad I got to try it, but I think for me, I am not the biggest fan of artificial cream flavourings. Sometimes, it works incredibly well, but other times it does not.
Flavors: Candy, Cream, Creamy, Lemon, Lemon Zest
I had this without milk for the first time today, and honestly, even without milk – it is absolutely delicious and also strangely enough has a milky quality to it? Almost like there is a dab of coconut milk in here. It works extremely well with all the other flavours present! :) I taste the ginger and caradamon. An excellent chai!
Flavors: Cardamom, Coconut, Cream, Creamy, Ginger
I like this tea a lot! It turns into a bright orange colour because of the turmeric and gives it a beautiful golden sunshine colour!
In terms of flavour, I am not the biggest fan of this one. I am mostly drinking this because turmeric is good for you, and it soothes my tummy. :) It tastes warm and refreshing. It makes me feel cozy!
However, I think for me I just prefer more dessert-like tea blends, lol!
Flavors: Apple, Cardamom, Ginger, Lemongrass, Pear
This smells lovely! It reminds me of a vanilla oatmeal cookie, almost? In terms of taste, I get creamy, vanilla, and coconut notes from this tea. Although this contains natural cream flavouring, it does not taste artificial in any way! :)
Flavors: Coconut, Cream, Creamy, Vanilla
I love this one as a stove-top latte! :) The toasted coconut in this is so yummy. I some times pick out the toasted coconut bits and eat them plain while waiting for my tea to boil, lol.
With this tea, I mostly taste delicious coconut, cardamon (which Deb uses generously!), and a slight bit of ginger. I taste little cinnamon in here, but that is okay, because this tea is lovely as is.
Flavors: Cardamom, Coconut, Cream, Creamy, Ginger, Spices
I am going to be so sad when this runs out, but I believe Deb is going to make this a permanent part of her Spring collection.
It tasted like a nutty, roasted hojicha tea with hints of cacao and coconut. I am surprised by how smooth this blend is since cacao tends to be grainy. Loved it! :)
Flavors: Cacao, Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Nutty, Roasted
Ah! I still cannot get over how much I love the one this blend smells. It reminds me of a roasted caramel rice crispy square! :)
Whenever I have black teas, I always have them as lattes. But I also love having this one just straight with no milk or sugar.
The roasted rice really works in this tea to give it a slight savoury and salty note. It also adds a pancake-like quality to the tea. There are also pleaseant caramel notes in here! :)
Flavors: Caramel, Pastries, Salt, Savory
Preparation
Mmm! I had this today – adding no additional milk/sugar! I think I might prefer this one straight over having it with milk because it really allows the coconut/maple notes to shine through. It really tastes like a custard! :) I am always so surprised by how much flavour Deb can get inside her teas without using artificial/natural flavouring.
Flavors: Coconut, Creamy, Custard, Maple
Preparation
My problem with this tea might be the natural lemon cream flavouring? It gives it an artificial taste, which I dislike. I think if it had less of the lemon cream flavouring, it would taste better.
I will try to finish this up.
Flavors: Cream, Creamy, Lemon, Lemon Zest
