Steeped up as an iced latte…

True to name, when prepared in latte form, this really does kind of just taste like sugary milk. I guess that’s ultimately what cereal milk is, so… accurate!? I like the very faint hint of strawberry and coconut that come through but I wish I got more of it. When you don’t add milk like I’ve done here, those flavours are more prominent but so is the harsher tannic black tea and I feel like it’s a bit abrasive for a “cereal milk” profile. So I’m not really super sure what the right balance of prep is for me when it comes to this one.

Sipdown 125-2021
Not a true sipdown, but it’s going into the swap pile. This doesn’t read as cereal milk to me, but kind of tastes like a Hostess Zinger. It has a weird raspberry thing going on with the oily coconut. Not a fan of this one.

Sipdown! (42 | 172)

Well, I gave this one a fair shot, but I just don’t get it.

There’s a bit of cream to it for sure, and some coconut. But other than a bland and somewhat tannic black base, that’s about it. Which makes sense, given it’s just black tea with cream flavoring and coconut.

It’s fine, it just doesn’t say cereal milk to me? I feel like it should either have some cinnamon and maple or maybe some fruity notes. Anyway, not for me!

Yesterday I woke up and felt so shitty. I had a migraine and nausea and I don’t even think I drank 2L of water, let alone tea. That means my tea battle from yesterday got delayed until today. This tea is going up against Candy Cane by My Tea Box. You can check out the tasting note for that tea here: https://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/416250

I know cereal milk from (1) eating cereal and then drinking the milk and (2) Milk Bar’s Cereal Milk ice cream, which is awesome. I am not sure if Deb was aiming to recreate the latter but honestly, she’s close. Just with more coconut – as to be expected with Deb. I am enjoying this a bunch. It’s super creamy and somehow has a touch of like Corn Flakes flavor to it, to imply that the milk touched cereal. I am pretty impressed and pretty happy with it. This tea wins!

I tried this one today and I didn’t really get it. Hopefully it’ll grow on me with a few more tries. :P

VariaTEA

I drank it after it cooled slightly so maybe it helped. I suppose cereal milk is a weird flavor to try and capture though.

I once tried a cereal milk ice cream (pre being vegan) and it was incredible!

VariaTEA

I got it at Momofuku Milk Bar and it’s awesome!

I hope this nite means that the migraine is gone and you are feeling better! Sorry you felt bad yesterday.

VariaTEA

@ashmanra, feeling much better! I think it either was my mouthguard or the weather so it passed by the next day

I conclude that this tea is unremarkable, after having the same lack of thoughts about it after a second cup. It’s good, I wouldn’t pass on drinking it, it’s just nothing hugely special?

I had this tea without milk or sugar and I loved whatever natural cream flavouring Deb used in this! One reason I never liked DT was because their teas often tasted like chemicals to me (not all of them, but more of their fun flavours). So I appreciated Deb could still make teas fun without using additional flavourings.

However, this tea just tastes straight up creamy; even without milk or sugar added to it. I still think this closely resembles DT’s Buttered Rum; however, it is so much better because it does not have that artificial taste.

It tastes like a black tea with strong vanilla and cream notes. I adore this one!
