1113 Tasting Notes
I’m enjoying this generous sample from Teavivre this morning! This is an extremely floral oolong. Very light too. The smell is strong and wonderfully complex, but I’m finding the flavor a little weak for my personal tastes. Not bad though and I’m really glad I got to try it. Thanks Teavivre!
I finally opened this sencha! I was trying to finish my Sencha Fukamidori from Den’s first, since these types of greens apparently spoil rather quickly.
This is very different from the senchas I’m used to. It is still buttery and spinachy, but there’s a haylike or grassy quality as well. Kind of like sencha with some white tea thrown in? I find it interesting that this is the summer harvest sencha, because the hay notes really make me think of summer time!
There is a little sweetness but not as much as other senchas, so this one seems pretty savory to me. No bitteness at all though (I made sure to steep at a nice low temp) and very little astringency. Nice sencha, very glad I won it from a Yunomi.us giveaway! :)
I got this as a bonus in a swap with CK quite a while ago. I’m already pretty caffeinated, so I wanted something light this afternoon!
I generally like hibiscus…this tea is somewhat bitter though, and I’m not getting any honey flavor. There is a weird artificial element going on here, too. Meh, not very good, sorry! :)
Shh, don’t tell my tea stash. I cheated on it with some coffee at lunch today! I very very rarely drink coffee, but I had to opportunity to have Turkish coffee, which I do enjoy quite a bit. I love cardamom! YUM!
I’m heavily caffeinated now O_o
Sounds like me yesterday. There was pumpkin spice coffee and I didn’t have time for tea that morning.
:D I’d go for a pumpkin spice…and in the winter a peppermint mocha if I need a serious boost when I am out running errands!
yum, but honestly my favourite fancy coffee is just espresso con pane ( especially if the whip cream is either unsweetened or has just a touch of vanilla syrup). ON the other hand the Starbucks closest to me has a very odd definition of a macchiato. I asked for one the other day and they basically gave me a full foam cappuccino. I still love coffee, though I’ve weaned myself mostly off it. Not like my mom though, once she quit, she couldn’t have more than half a cup or she’d have a migraine.
I can’t believe I hadn’t tried this one yet! I was gifted this tea by a local friend, and just sort of forgot about it, I guess!
I really like this actually. Citrus and floral seem perfectly matched here. Unfortunately I let this steep just a little bit too long so it is slightly more astringent than I prefer my greens. Still totally drinkable though.
What I’m drinking is a sample from Mandala Tea. The package said-

I knew as soon as I woke up this morning I wanted to drink a shu today. I’ve been waiting for a shu craving to hit so I could try this sample! It was exactly what I needed. I find it very grounding. There are never any funky or “off” odors or tastes in any of the Mandala puerhs I’ve tried so far! First steep was earthy, and the 2nd steep is similar but a little sweeter. Very nice :)
