1024 Tasting Notes
Had to bump my rating back up because I remain obsessed with this.
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve let myself have a mug of Hello Sweetie because it’s starting to get low and I’m not allowed another Butiki order for a while (my own orders). The anticipation of another mug of this got me way too excited. Obsessed.
Dang, it’s just so good.
I reckon Hello Sweetie’s strongest presence is with 3:1 tea:sugar (makes it quite sweet but with the sweetness comes the full gamut of flavour) topped off with cream.
I’m dying. I’m dying. I’m so happy.
How do I have over seventy teas in my cupboard and yet still hum and hah over which one I feel like drinking? This is exactly the same issue I have with my enormous wardrobe sometimes.
This afternoon I’ve moved onto the tea that prompted my first-ever tea swap after lusting over the Coconut Grove that ashleyelizabeth put up in the international swap thread.
Speaking of which, I’ve just listed a few of my own in there, if anyone’s keen on a swap with this Aussie! Now’s your time to shine.
(Seriously though… do I seriously have over seventy teas? Because I’m lookin’ at them and it doesn’t look like it. But I sure do recognise every tea when I look through my Steepster cupboard. Geez…)
Hey old friend! Brought my canister of this back to work today for a sweet afternoon treat.
It was one of the May feature teas—some stores might still have some stocks remaining but it’s gone from the online store already :( do you have a store nearby?
I live in England sadly, and they only just opened up a store in Shoreditch London. Which is fantastic, but since they’re new they don’t have any of the older specials.
I’m actually coming over to Brisbane in September though and will definitely be heading to the store there. They might even have some left, but I won’t get my hopes up :)
Oh man, the London store! That’s very exciting. And Brisbane’s my old stomping ground :D
I could probably swing a sample of this your way!
The London store is absolutely beautiful! True to T2’s zen like interior and located in such a trendy spot. I chatted to the ladies in there and they were telling me how well it’s took off over here. Fun fact, tea is one of the only things we don’t tax on from abroad, which means they were able to keep the same Australian prices- just converted to English pounds of course!
That’s very generous for you to offer a sample. I wouldn’t want to trouble you though!
Ok, this blend wins a 100% boost from its first rating because I’ve just made a cold steeped blend that I am totally in love with and it was one of the ingredients.
I used:
4tsp this blend
2tsp Monstrositea Mint
2tsp T2 Turkish Apple powder
1tsp Monstrositea Lavender
1tsp (or maybe 2tsp?) T2 Just Ginger
in around 1.8L water (didn’t quite fill the 2L jug)
And it is a world of deliciousness. So refreshing! I’m really happy with this creation, particularly as I don’t play scientist very often. I’m so happy with this that I’m gonna have to get some more lemongrass & ginger to recreate it! But maybe another company’s blend. Sorry Truly. <3
Yeah but T2 are owned by Unilever these days :( trying to support small Aussie businesses going forward.
Jeez, are they really?
If you’re ever in Sydney, I know of a small tea shop (in a very pretty shopping center) run by a little elderly Chinese man. Maybe I’ll go there tomorrow.
Yep, as of about nine months ago. It broke my heart! I was a loyal T2er until then. Even now I find it hard to avoid wandering through their beautiful store but am branching out and trying to find alternatives to their blends where I can. It’s a challenge!
There are a few awesome Sydney tea shops I’ve found in my googling (I’m down in Hobart but sestra is in Sydney). Definitely go visit that adorable-sounding tea man!
I am kinda crazy about the first tea from the Monstrositea July box.
I love a good caffeine-free evening option and I’m also a sucker for a placebo like the “calming effects” touted with this. I’m a skeptic but I want to believe. In any case, it’s a pretty great blend of ingredients done well enough that I don’t even pick up on any obnoxious licorice root flavour—normally it overwhelms my tastebuds. It’s got me saying ooh, girl.
Oh, so the 2L I cold steeped in the fridge was actually the last I had of this, go figure! Still drinking down that 2L but being a bit imaginative with it. Bumping up the rating too because I think I added a little extra to finish my stock but it’s come out quite strong. So!
Tonight I’m drinking it as a tea pop, spliced with soda water. It’s amazing, actually. Best way I’ve drunk it yet! And while I’ve had fun with this, I won’t be restocking it.
