1024 Tasting Notes
Bumping up the rating on my goodbye for this. I certainly came around to it a lot more, particularly when I wasn’t drinking it any time near Hello Sweetie (because I’m still obsessed with that madness).
So in short: this has been lovely. I won’t restock while Hello Sweetie exists but that doesn’t mean this blend is even close to mediocre. <3
Finally got this one down from the top shelf and opened it up, ready to roll! I couldn’t remember the flavour of this at ALL apart from knowing it was my favourite of the three cherry tea flavours that T2 released as limited editions early this year.
I went straight to the cold steep for my first hit of this, and boy does it taste like cherry lolly flavour!
I’m on the fence as to whether that’s a good or bad thing for now.
I woke up without an inhuman need for coffee this morning so thought I’d try substituting with some guayusa for my walk to work. Of course, I didn’t end up drinking it for another three hours, but it was in my timolino so it kept nice and warm for me.
I haven’t got a caffeine headache yet so maybe it’s working.
Something about this Monstrositea July box sample made me think it’d go just nicely as a cold brew, after I’d already enjoyed two delicious hot mugs of it.
Turns out I was right! The cold steep has a sweet pink blush and some great flavours to it. Plus it’s fun checking out the swollen cardamom pods after 12hrs of steeping.
This is definitely my favourite from this month’s offerings. I don’t mind straight black teas but more flavours are my jam.
Yeah, this is really great.
This is the kinda tea I want as a chillout evening tea. No stinking hibiscus like so many of the others that currently live at my bedside tea station. I’m pretty over them!
This one worked really nicely to ease an inbound headache at work this evening. It’s only got four ingredients and they work really well together without needing a) hibiscus or even b) chamomile! I like chamomile but it can be overpowering in some blends. Not this one! Get outta town.
You know what just makes some black teas 100% better?
Cream and sugar.
The golden ratio of 3:1 tea:sugar (in teaspoons) and a dollop of cream made for one sweet and delicious smooth brew.
Oh I’m glad you clarified that teaspoon thing, the last time I read it I thought the CUP of tea was that ratio!
I was wondering about this when I saw you post that ratio before! “Surely she doesn’t mean what I think she does…” :P
I used the brewing method that Lion Repshire mentioned in his tasting notes for my last sample of this:
“2.5g per 100ml for 45 seconds at 170F. Add 15 seconds to repeated infusions.”
My “2.5g per 100ml” ended up a little more like “maybe a bit more than a teaspoon or 3g according to my scales that only work in full grams per teacup that is probably around 200ml I guess”, but the brewing was a lot of fun and definitely brought out some much fruitier notes. Fun!
