1803 Tasting Notes
I must’ve made this tea very wrong (despite steeping within the specifications on the bag), because it was pretty bitter and unpleasant. I’m not rating it because I’m not sure if this was user error or age (it’s about 14 months old), but I’ll have to give it another shot at some point.
Preparation
I received this as a sample in an order I placed from Music City Tea for some teaware. I found this to be just okay. Very, very smokey and lacked much depth. A bit of a minerality and wet rock flavor with subsequent steeps, but the smokiness was a bit too overpowering.
Spring 2019. This is one of my favorites from my Mountain Stream order. It’s very buttery, and has a mild floral finish. A very easy drinker that I gulped down. No bitterness or astringency at all.
I’ve been enjoying trying all of the new DT matchas. I made this one as an iced latte with oat milk (as I’ve been doing with most of the new flavored matchas), and it was really tasty. It reminded me very much of a fruity cereal milk. I enjoyed it, but it’s another one that I don’t absolutely have to have on hand.
I absolutely love kabocha, and I have a newfound love of hojicha. So, I was very excited to see this offering by Yunomi. I bought 2 20gram bags because it was almost sold out, and I thought I would love it. While I do enjoy it, there isn’t much of a pumpkin flavor. It’s a bit savory, but the flavor is very mild. Still quite enjoyable, just not what I was expecting.
