1809 Tasting Notes

I received this as a sample in an order I placed from Music City Tea for some teaware. I found this to be just okay. Very, very smokey and lacked much depth. A bit of a minerality and wet rock flavor with subsequent steeps, but the smokiness was a bit too overpowering.

Spring 2019. This is one of my favorites from my Mountain Stream order. It’s very buttery, and has a mild floral finish. A very easy drinker that I gulped down. No bitterness or astringency at all.

I think I need to tuck into some high quality lovely oolongs in these times.

Very sad to have finished this up. I added a bit of brown sugar to my last couple cups and they were so, so good. I was very much getting ‘fall in a mug’ vibes, which definitely cheered me up. I’ll be re-purchasing this one shortly.

I’ve been enjoying trying all of the new DT matchas. I made this one as an iced latte with oat milk (as I’ve been doing with most of the new flavored matchas), and it was really tasty. It reminded me very much of a fruity cereal milk. I enjoyed it, but it’s another one that I don’t absolutely have to have on hand.

I absolutely love kabocha, and I have a newfound love of hojicha. So, I was very excited to see this offering by Yunomi. I bought 2 20gram bags because it was almost sold out, and I thought I would love it. While I do enjoy it, there isn’t much of a pumpkin flavor. It’s a bit savory, but the flavor is very mild. Still quite enjoyable, just not what I was expecting.

Finished off the sample pouch that I had with a small pot this afternoon. I didn’t add any sweetener this time around, and it’s not nearly as enjoyable. Very medicinal, and the rooibos is very prominent. Not sad to say goodbye to this one.

I’m a sucker for creamsicle flavored things, and this tea did not disappoint. It’s very much a sophisticated version of the familiar flavor combination. The vanilla is aromatic and creamy, and the orange is zesty without being sharp. Not sure what flavor the jatoba wood adds, I tried doing some research and can’t find much about using it as a flavoring. I’d imagine this would be wonderful with some milk added.

0/3 sadly. This tea doesn’t quite taste like juicy fresh pineapple, more of a vague piña colada. The least offensive of the three, but definitely not something I need to drink again.

This tea smells awesome. Like a raspberry/green apple sour candy. It just tastes okay. Despite all of the freeze-dried fruits, it tastes so overwhelmingly synthetic. It doesn’t taste like any type of pastry or pie at all, definitely more candy-like.

Another unfortunate disappointment. I love mango, and had very high hopes for this blend. But, much like the pineapple black blend from the same company, this just doesn’t really taste like mango. The slightly mango flavor smells like it has gone off? There’s just something slightly stale about it.
