1809 Tasting Notes
I was so excited to see this blend in this month’s box. I absolutely love pineapple and ginger, and to see them combined on an oolong base was really exciting. The pineapple scent is bright and lovely. I love having freeze-dried pieces, rather than just flavoring. Steeped, the ginger comes across as quite savory rather than just spicy, but I quite liked it! I think this would do well sweetened and iced.
Hot/no sweetener. I’m pleasantly surprised by how vibrant the raspberry flavor and fragrance are. It actually makes sense, as the oolong leaves are intermingled with tons of freeze-dried raspberry pieces. While it’s nice hot, I imagine it would be incredible as a latte (or even better as an iced latte). Looking forward to trying it as such.
So, it seems Fong Mong has become JLTea Co. I placed an order for a sampler set and received the package from Taiwan in less than a week! 24 samples and I basically just paid shipping, so I’m very excited to start trying everything.
Onto the tea- this is really interesting. Floral and a bit vegetal, but very sweet with a caramelized sugar note. A bit of a dry mouthfeel, which isn’t my favorite.
