15082 Tasting Notes
missB sent this one my way. Note to those that try this, it’s much better hot than when it cools lol i got distracted with work and ended up having to drink a bunch of it on the cooler side. hot, this is delicious chocolate tea…warm this is more of a thin liquidy sort of vaguely reminiscent of chocolate sort of tea. I vastly prefer it hot heh
Terri made a comment last night about LB which reminded me i have a number of samples from YYZ which are potentially similar in profile to LB, that i’ve been hoarding. So i think this weekend is going to be the weekend to bust them out and get cracking on some tasty sampling! This one smells like LB. My first inhale was like ooooh almost LB. However, the initial sips of this are very different. There’s a malty sweetness to this that really IS like honey spread over bread – YYZ’s words not mine but i totally see where that comes from. This is a pretty tasty cup! Different from some of the other teas i’ve tried and really nice this morning with the cooler temps happening outside that i love.
Preparation
Operation sipdown is in full effect so here goes nothing. I’ve got a few hours of work this morning so i’m trying to make it more enjoyable by trying to get through some of my samples. This one is from YYZ and falls in to that category of tea that has a floral, bitter note to it. So not my favourite. It’s not a terrible cup fo tea, but for sure falls on the other side of the spectrum from the teas i most love. That being said, i am always happy to try more teas! 3 more days until my steepsterversary and i’d like to see how close to 2k teas tasted i can get heh thank you again YYZ! :)
soooo good! the day/night was a little cooler today so this was fantastic tonight. thank you so much again and again and again omgsrsly best, “i’m calling it a birthday tea present ’cause i want to” so far LOL :)
Final Count: After my verdant order; omgsrsly’s tea and my teavivre winnings i’m back up to 187. sigh
i love friday nights. They are typically the one night a week guaranteed for E and i to relax and take a deep breath after long weeks and before the craziness of the weekend sets in with work or running around with friends. Played some Terra Mystica while having a few cups of tea tonight and it was fantastic. i love this tea because it’s limey and a little spicy and just downright yummy. now if only after a year and a half bayswater ACTUALLY did something with their website…
yeah and it’s not up to date…and they’ve been saying for like 2 years they’re “almost ready to launch an ecommerce site”
It’s so frustrating. Even living in the same city, just being able to browse before I went in would be amazing.
when you say “limey and a ‘little’ spicey” how limey to spicey are we talking? lots of lime with a bit of a punch, just enough lime to be a lime tea with a real kick of ginger, etc?
it’s just got a bit of a kick…most ppl who can stand spicy things would probably not notice this much
I’ll send my sister to get me some while she’s over there next week :) there’s a few I want to try and I need to top up on grapefruit EG again (already. oops)
cold brewed this to see which i prefer and it’s for sure hot…or maybe hot then cooled. I didn’t mind cold brewing this but on the whole it started to have more of that OOLONG taste that i don’t like, while when this is hot, it’s just delicious melon :)
Now off to play some terra mystica tonight for fun…before i have to work all weekend. BLECH
Preparation
had this one while watching the last episode of Hannibal season 2. One show down that i watch with my other half but we’re still working through Fringe and wanting to start game of thrones…and now longmire and falling skies are back….ugh. Not to mention that i think he’d like orphan black so i’m trying to hold off on that one. this one is getting to the end of the bag so it’s even more full of flavour from things settling to the bottom of the bag heh. sooo good. :)
still haven’t found the sweet spot with this one since i first had it…i’ll get there but for not i keep wanting it to be more sweet and more maple-y.
I’m finding it loses the flavour potency really fast. “Really fast” = sealed and in my cupboard for 3-4 months. I expect more from a black tea…
