Dry leaf has a strong floral/vegetal aroma.

Brewed tea has a strong vegetal aroma.

Flavour is mostly vegetal with a clean sugary fruity (cantaloupe) finish). Buttery notes in aftertaste. Thick mouthfeel with a very satisfying savoury note. As the tea cools, I am detecting a mild smoky note in the back of the throat- somewhat like charred asparagus.

Very authentic and juicy melon flavour with roasted tones. Fresh-tasting- like biting into a just-harvested piece of fruit. Sweetness is balanced amazingly-well with the other flavours. I would love to see this flavouring paired with tea- that would probably be the only way to make this blend better!

I was served this tea gong-fu style at Pekoe Tea in Edinburgh.

The first infusion reminded me of houjicha flavour but was also quite complex. I could taste a faint note of cinnamon. There was also a roasted and floral flavour. The wet leaves smelled a lot like pumpkin seed. I noticed a little bit of oolong bitterness- possibly because it was brewed too long, I’m not entirely sure what the standards are for serving this tea in the shop.

The second infusion had a smooth bean note with a wheat flavour.

I didn’t track the tasting notes for the infusions after that- I was having a great conversation with one of my classmates!

The complexity of the flavour is what I like most about this tea. I would definitely try it again if I had the chance- although it is quite expensive.

Dull green tea note with a peachy tone. Sweetness close to the end of the sip. I can taste the lavender note which is a great match for the peach.

Floral cherry sugary sweetness balanced nicely with black tea flavour. Flavour is a bit dilute. I would try this again with a greater ratio of leaf: water.

Note of bitter grassy/leafy taste. Houjicha is an interesting choice for a flavoured tea. I find that it has a quite unique flavour itself and could use a complement flavouring. This tea tastes mainly like Houjicha with a very faint caramel sweetness note. I think a bit of a stronger caramel flavour would do well here. The Houjicha on its own is quite tasty with fresh roasted tones and light chestnut finish.

Oh nuts, I ordered this one and was looking forward to an ultra caramel flavour. Too bad about the bitterness too.

It might be because I didn’t drink this quickly enough or all the delicious flavour bits sank to the bottom. I would definitely be willing to give this one another shot (I still have some sample left too!). The Houjicha in this one was quite nice and carries the tea even with a milder flavour.

Hmm I would have thought those two would work great together!

Brewing tea aroma has a pineapple-tropical fruits aroma
Good pineapple flavour. Interesting mouthfeel that I would describe as “slippery”. Good balance of flavour. Lychee note present. Flavour is a bit dilute.
