128 Tasting Notes
Water: 8oz
Leaves: powdery medium rolled rods
Steep: 2m,3m
Aroma: Roasted
Color: pale almost clear
Taste: I decided to try a reverse brewing method,by doing so this meant to add the hot water first then add the leaves. The tea was very light, lacking in flavor throughout the steep times. Another thing I noticed it is that this tea doesn’t last long 2 steeps maximum. Overall an okay tea.
Preparation
The key to making a good flavored match is to use vanilla milk! At first this tea was rather bland using unsweetened soy milk. With the addition of vanilla soy milk it really had a great flavor not really chocolate it was just good. I had it as a cold drink,i dissolved the powder in hot water first then added the cold milk.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tiny fuzzy rolled rods
Steep: rinse,30s,50s,80s
Aroma: Grassy
Color: pale almost clear
Taste: Due to last nights brewing session I now know that 15 minutes is the perfect cool down for my kettle when steeping green tea. Upon opening this tea it reminded me of a fuzzy Laoshan green. As with the other tea the aroma was grassy & pleasant. A 30s steep left me with a light flavor with the fuzz from the leaves floating in my cup. 50s the color deepened but the flavor remained about the same. Lastly the 80s the grassy aroma it once had faded a bit, as for the taste it was relatively the same. When speaking of the leaf size once they fully unravel they are much bigger than what you start off with, which was pretty cool.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: large rolled rods
Steep: rinse 30s,60s,90s
Aroma: Grassy
Color: pale almost clear
Taste: I decided to use my new electric kettle today which made this experience more exciting. I hope to get the brewing right since i don’t have a thermometer yet. I let my kettle cool about 15 minutes then i gave the tea a quick rinse & steeped for 30s. The aroma was grassy & vegetable like. The large leaved had unraveled quite a bit after rinsing and steeping. As for taste it was slightly grassy but overall very light and refreshing.
Preparation
Water: 16oz
Leaves: Small chopped leaves with bits of orange peel, safflowers & hibiscus
Steep:
Aroma: the usual rooibos
Color: Rich deep copper orange
Taste: Today I decided to test out my new Brita water pitcher for making this tea. I use 16 oz due to the amount of tea that comes in a sample packet. The aroma was that of the typical rooibos (dry leaf). Upon steeping the tea had released more of a citrus note (wet leaf). I noticed the color was much deeper and richer than the rooibos I had previously, this was probably due to the addition of the hibiscus. Overall I found this to be an okay lightly flavored tea.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tiny copped leaves
Steep: 5m
Aroma: not good
Color: Coppery orange
Taste: The first time I brewed this tea i wasn’t fond of the aroma it didn’t smell good like the other teas I had. Surprising upon brewing for a total of 5 minutes the flavor wasn’t as bad as i thought it might have been due to the scent.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: medium length fuzzy leaves
Steep: 30s
Aroma: floral
Color: pale almost clear
Taste: I’ve had to experiment and test this tea out a couple of times first. The first time I use 2T as recommend for a 8oz cup and it came out way to strong & it didn’t taste good. The second time I got it right, it had a very nice floral aroma specifically that of a Honeysuckle. The color was pale almost clear. The taste was pleasant and light, a good finisher for a lemon cupcake i had just demolished instead of paring it with the usual glass of milk. Overall a very nice tea with a lingering aroma.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tiny medium green circles
Steep: 1m
Aroma: grassy
Color: yellowish green
Taste: This tea was the first Oolong I’ve had in a while since I haven’t been making tea as often. What I found surprising upon opening the package was the non floral aroma that most Oolongs carry. This time it was more of a grassy aroma that you find with green tea. I went on to brewing next, I checked the instructions and i noticed that I was supposed to use 1 tablespoon of tea, which is more than what I normally use of 1 tsp per cup. So I gave them a fifteen second rinse then continued brew for 1 minute. The flavor was very light almost bland but as it sat for a few minutes I noticed that the flavors intensified it was a bit bolder now. Overall a very nice Oolong if you looking for something non-floral and on the lighter end.
