128 Tasting Notes
Water: 8oz
Leaves: long thin rolled leaves
Steep: 1m,2m,3m,4m,5m
Aroma: Spinach
Color: light pale yellow/ Dark yellow
Taste: I’ve played around with this tea for quite sometime first before moving on to this review. The aroma was that of spinach, the leaves were different from other teas as they were thin & long. This made it quite difficult when trying to figure out how much tea should go into the tea ball since i couldn’t use a regular teaspoon measure. I also had to maneuver the leave around so they would fit in the tea ball. I also wanted to note the two colors the first time i brew this tea i apparently put too many leaves and it was medium/dark yellow in appearance in comparison to using the right amount the brew was very pale yellow almost clear. The taste were also different the darker cup had a hint of bitterness to it while the lighter cup didn’t. The aroma of the brew was light and not at all like the spinach i had first experienced with the dry leaf. Overall i find this tea to be okay with nothing too special in terms of the flavor or aroma.
Happy 4th of July!
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: tiny curled leaves
Steep: 1m,2m,3m
Aroma: Spinach, Collard greens
Color: light pale yellow
Taste: The aroma for this was quite different it reminded me of spinach & collard greens. The leaves were tiny curled and a bit fuzzy. I accidentally forgot to time my first steep when i sat down at my computer (I use an online timer). I found this cup to be quite smooth & lightly flavored. I want to try things differently next time i brew this tea, use more tea leaves. I usually go for the 1tsp per 8oz of water but have been wanting to test the waters to see which result I’d get from more leaves. The other brews remain the same keeping with the overall lightness of the tea. Spring 2015 harvest
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: medium flat leaves
Steep: 1m,2m,3m
Aroma: fresh, vegetable, grassy
Color: light green
Taste: Dragon Well tea will probably always be a favorite of mine, it’s one I discovered when I first started my entry to the world of loose tea. It’s truly a great tea drinking any time day or night. This was apart of the Spring 2015 Collection and now i understand when it comes to tea picking time is important. These new tea have had a wonderful fresh aroma & refreshing taste. I have actually finished the 1st sample packed upon writing this review. Dragon well seems to be a fool proof tea even if you add a bit too much/ too little tea it’s still nice to drink. I haven’t had any problems in terms of bitterness. The one mistake I’ve made is not closing the packet good enough which in terms brings down the color of the leaves & the water tone. Overall I can say Dragon Well is a must have in any green tea lovers collection! I’ve thought about starting a YouTube channel with photo/slideshow tea reviews.
Preparation
The Meteorologist finally got the weather right! These last few weeks we’ve been expecting rain but got nothing. It’s nice to hear a rumble or two of thunder every once in a while. Listing to the rain outside while I sip on this cup of tea. the fresh vegetable aroma comes from the dry leaf, it seemed to be fresher than before maybe because this tea was harvested last month on April 10th. I never really gave it much thought to when a tea was picked but I’m starting to think it does make a difference.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: small golden rolled leaves
Steep: 1m,2m,3m
Aroma: regular black tea
Color: Amber
Taste: Finally I reached the last tea to review in my collection! This yea had a similar look to the golden tip black tea. I finally found the perfect tea brewing notes as well when using 8oz of water! Upon first sip i got a little bit of bitterness but it quickly went away as i continued drinking. A slightly dry tea finish with almost no tea particle escaping the tea ball. The clarity was great clean and clear! As for taste it was similar to the Keemun tea i had the other day. The longer steep revealed a darker tone w/ slightly deeper flavor.
Preparation
I didn’t even include this tea in my collection but it is not good at all. I’ve only had one cup & that was enough. I tasted no blueberry or acai they were both non existent.
not apart of my main review group so there is still more left.
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: small rolled leaves
Steep: 1m,2m,3m
Aroma: regular black tea
Color: Amber
Taste: One more tea to go in my collection! This is my second Keemun Fragrant Black Tea but this time with a different company. The first steep was light in flavor & aroma so decided to go for 2 more steeps to see if it would reveal any thing different. 2m slightly more flavor but still light. 3m revealed the same even though i slightly over boiled my water lol. Overall a nice light black tea no bitterness & great clarity!
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: large green/brown leaves
Steep: 6m
Aroma: faint
Color: dark yellow
Taste: This tea was more messy then the rest in terms of measuring i just pinched off a bit & put it into my tea ball. During the steep quite a few of tea particles escaped, for the 6m brew time. Aroma i didn’t pick up on much of anything it was very light and faint. As for taste it was bland.
Preparation
I have been using this matcha for years mainly to make my mom’s favorite green tea ice cream & a delicious green tea pound cake. I have never drank it it straight b/c i don’t currently own a proper matcha brewing kit & I’m not sure how to brew it other wise w/out proper tools. It also makes for great lattes with vanilla soy milk so you don’t have to add any extra sweeter. I decided to leave this with a score of an 80 due to me not having this tea plain.
Happy Earth Day!
Preparation
Water: 8oz
Leaves: dark green with white sections
Steep: 3m,4m
Aroma: vegetable
Color: yellow
Taste: I was shocked when i first opened this pack of tea it wasn’t the typical pu-erh i was used to seeing. What i encountered was green leaves followed by a vegetable aroma, instead of the typical dark leaf/earthy aroma. It produced a yellow toned tea the aroma closer to a white or green tea. As for taste it was very light in flavor that is what set it apart from the previous pu-erh.
